membengal
Oh yeah, the panties have been seriously wadded for several of the faithful. Gotta be painful for them to walk around with that wad of cotton arranged just so.Welcome back, HoF.
BengalszoneBilly
Yeesh, now billy snaps. I'm glad I'm going on vacation before the "WERE DOOOMD 0-16 HERE WE CMOE!!!" threads start (I give it until Sunday afternoon). Without pointing fingers I say we blame the panic on the heat, and speak no more of it.I'll remember these comments HOF, Hoosier, Membengal, etc... and I'll be sure to bring it back up the first time the Bengals pass defense gets chewed against another "monster" 500 yard passing offense of the NFL. It was a problem last year, and all indications appear it hasn't been fixed in any way, shape, or form. BTW, the poll speaks otherwise.I would like to add I'm happy with the run "D" in the Lions game. 59 yards I can definitely live with! Kudos to the "D" there, but only there. HairOnFire
Billy, it is what it is. The very questions asked in the poll speak pretty well to how few glaring weaknesses the Bengals really have. For example, only a slack-jawed mouth breathing moron would claim that the current status of Bengals running game represents it's greatest weakness. (One vote) And absolutely nobody seems to think that the depth at the 3rd WR spot is a fatal flaw. At best it's a concern. So that leaves the other side of the ball where the pass defense, despite boasting some quality talent, was horribly rated last season.....and received the most votes in the poll, including my own. If the pass defense was actually upgraded, something that is yet to be determined, the help comes in the form or three rookies and whatever improvement can be gained by a 2nd year CB. So you tell me when it's REASONABLE to expect the Kiddie Korp to provide improvement? Don't you think it might take longer than 4 quarters of football....or might be better judged after the starters play extended minutes? That said, feel free to remind me of this post the next time the Bengals pass defense surrenders more than 500 yards in an actual game. But in my most humble of opinions (ahem).....any stat pulled from the Lion game is just a curiosity.

Spor_tees
As far as the pass defense goes, it doesn't really matter who you bring into play, if they are going to play zone all the time and not blitz. Chuckie B. schemes his defense in a way that it lives or dies on turnovers, and to bend and not break. It worked 2 years ago because they got a lot of turnovers, but last year they didn't and they sucked. As long as they play this scheme of defense, with Chuckie B. as the DC, they are going to be schizophrenic like this. I'd it equate it to the person that spends all their extra cash on scratch off tickets, and they only tell you about the times when they won, but overall they are always broke. (One vote)Present and accounted for. I do sometimes have breathing issues at night, but didn't know that you knew about that....more evidence perhaps that HairOnFire and my wife are one in the same.Oh, and there's two votes now. How was your vacation?Nothing like a few days in Florida in August. Fortunately most of the best attractions at the House of Mouse these days have air conditioned waits. Everyone had a great time. By definition a wife is YOUR bitch, but anyone should be able to tell by now that you're MY bitch. Now shut your trap and go make me a sandwich. TJJackson
Oh, I dunno sweetie, but let's say it is 32nd, since that's dead last, 'kay? :-)Tell me there's a LOT of difference between 28 and 32. G'head :-)Enough that choosing one over the other qualifies one as a mouth breathing slack jawed moron - MBSJM - :-)That said, a quick check of the nfl.com website says the Bengls are rated 28th against the pass.So....I picked run offense, and it is ranked 28th, and I am a MBSJM....got it.....and you picked pass defense....also ranked 28th....and you are not a MBSJM.....errr, come again?I ain't saying the pass defense hasn't been a disaster - it has - the difference is *I* didn't rip *you* for this easily-made choice. Luv ya. :-)

Oh my, did I hurt the feelings of a slack jawed mouth breathing moron so badly that he hasn't gotten over something that was said in preseason? Sorry sweetie, please forgive. After all, who could have guessed you were THIS insecure? As for who was right and who was wrong, the rush offense is 28th ranked, the run defense was 28th ranked prior to the Raven game, and the pass defense is 28th ranked after that game. HairOnFire
Speaking of weak links, just saw a blurb on PFT...guess what former Bengals player is currently leading Pro Bowl voting at guard...? I saw it too and instantly thought of Takeo Spikes finally making the Pro Bowl the moment he left Cincinnati. Neither player improved a bit, but the accolades finally came when playing for different teams.
