HoosierCat
The Bengals have Deltha O'Neil -many time Pro Bowl CB- and Johnathan Joseph 1st round pick last year who played well last year. This sooo where is he going to play ?#3 CBActually, yeah, nickel corner is where he fits in right now, same way Joseph got worked in last season. If Deltha comes back, great; if he keeps sucking, buh-bye.
Dadraftnick
Yes, I know that the Bengals were rated at the bottom in pass deffense. But,O'Neil and James were hurt most of the year and Joseph was a rookie. The reason that the Bengals gave up so much passing yardage was deffensive schemes(stop the run first mentality),lack of pressure from the D-line,injuries,and opponents.Yes,opponents the Bengals had one of the hardest schedules in the NFL last year and among them were the teams that had the best offenses, which makes it look worse than it was.If you look at the positions that the starters played worst and you were drafting to replace the worst starters you would have to look at replacing:DE Bryan Robinson- did not even have a tackle in a few games after starting and playing the first two downs the whole game.C Eric Ghiciacuc- nearly got Carson killed quite a few games, cant pick up a blitz,he just does not look like good enough to play in the NFL,at least not at C position.Any pick on the D-line or LB would have been a much better pick than a CB.Sam Adams is making over $3,000,000 and had 14 tackles-that works out to about $200,000 a tackle. After the release of Brian Simmons the and with Pollack's broken neck and with Thurman's status in the air ,a 1st rnd pick at any of these spots would have made much more sense than taking a CB in the 1st round. With a Pro-Bowl CB(Oneil) and a 1st round CB (Joseph)from last year already on the roster, have you just wasted a 1st round pick on a nickel back? If you have'nt then you did last year or you are turning a pro bowl CB into a nickel back.

If you have'nt then you did last year or you are turning a pro bowl CB into a nickel back.O'Neal is old, sucks, and has character issues. Meanwhile, Tory James, the fluke of the '05 season aside, is/was old and busted. Its time we build our secondary for years. We resign Madieu after this season or the next and our 3/4 of our starting secondary is set for the next 4-5 years with young talented players. All we need now is a young SS and a couple upgrades on the D-Line and we have a team primed to compete for the next 3-5 seasons for a Superbowl. Scottishbengal
Bengals draft grade so far...an "A" maybe? WELL DONE MIKE BROWN (well, we'd blame him for a bad pick too right?)
Kazkal
Yes... his name is Antonio Chatman.you mean the midget who get's cut this year? That is not what a 1st round pick is for.Oneal is in a hot seat,Hall very well could start this year.I'm glad Hall is starting out playing nickel because you dont rush a rookie CB in to the lineup you bring them along.I would have loved branch but man if he still isen't taken i'm glad we dident....Reggie Nelson would have been nice but even Mayock had him what his 4th safety? I'm more happy with Hall pick he was best defensive player available.
derekshank
Look... I'm not a huge Hall fan either, but he's in the top 10 in some very respected "top 100" lists. It's a defense pick, it's not a QB, so it means he'll be utilized. I'm not sure you can pass on a top 10 talent at #18, even if you don't think that CB is the most desperate need. Decent pick...but I think the Bengals have the second-best 1st round behind the Browns, and they had to cough up a 1 and 2 to do it.

I dont remember...WHODEY !!!I don't know for sure, but I believe they drop it to 10 minutes. The first round usually averages about 12 minutes per team, and the second is usualy faster ... like about 7 minutes per pick. At least that is what it seems to me watching this each year. Wow Hoosier... you're starting to sound like a blind homer. As far as great 1st rounds, I personally think the Jags made out the best of any team in the draft so far. They got their guy, and were able to pick up another 1st and 2nd day pick to do it. But that just goes to show you how much I was hoping to grab a couple extra picks in this draft. But I have no problem agreeing that the Bengals got a bargain.

TJJackson
Great pickI wanted one of (in the order stated) Timmons, Nelson, Revis, Hall. Sure, I was pissed when Pitsburgh took Timmons, and was wishing we had been able to pull a Jacksonville deal and trade down, but hey, it's a good pick. a Damn good pick. Now for a S, LB, or DL in r2......
