HoosierCat
This Signing Must Change All Bengals Draft Thinking !!!I'm not sure that taking an offensive player with their first pick can actually be defined, in any year, as a "change" in Bengals thinking. James_Brooks21
With Bengals tight end Tony Stewart now Playing for The RaidersWe Need More Than Ever A Killer TE In The First RoundThis Signing Must Change All Bengals Draft Thinking !!!I'm sorry man I'm not trying to disrespect you or something, but that would be one of the worst moves that we could do. We have too many defensive holes to draft anything on the offensive side of the ball. Fourth round tight end sounds more like it too me, you can forget about us getting a tight end in the first round. Plus none of those tight ends are game changers anyway, the guy from Miami looks good but I had never heard of him to the combine so how good is he. NJ29
I can't agree with you man. Stewart didn't really bring much, save for a breather for Kelly. Ronnie Ghent can handle that. Kelly can handle the load, and he will be the number one tight end, no matter who comes in. This team loves Kelly and all he does as a leader and a blocker. A tight end in the draft, in any round, isn't necessary, especially early on.
Stripes
One of the Guenther, Ghent, or Day trio should be able to take Stewarts place and perform as well as he did.
DC_Bengals_Fan
I'm kinda suspecting that jb is engaging in a bit of sarcasm here... Perhaps the part about Stewart was the clincher there. Probably no team since his peewee league team said "what will we do without Tony Stewart?"
derekshank
Um... Tony's last name is Stewart, not Gonzalez. He's probably replaceable by one of the guys on our roster. If not, then a second day pick will do just fine.To suggest that a 1st round pick needs to be used to replace a back-up who had 14 receptions for 120 yards seems a bit ridiculous. (If Hoosier is right and this thread was meant to be facetious, then no worries).

7/11
there will be way too many defensive difference-makers there in round 1 to draft olsen. olsen is the ONLY te worth looking at in round one, for any team. but need defense in round 1, and round 2, probably round 4....we can easily find someone to replace stewart in the last 3 rounds. jjakq27
I gotta question Stewart's decision to leave here. I know the money is a big deal but the Raiders suck. Just ask Warren Sapp.
HairOnFire
Well, so much for my so-called pick of a TE sleeper. Ben Patrick has climbed so high that he's now Mike Mayoch's 2nd ranked TE prospect and the featured player in the most recent Countown to the Draft. Instead of a possible 4th or 5th rounder Patrick is now said to be a potential 2nd round pick. But on the plus side Patrick was seen on that broadcast showing off a tat of a tiger head that covered his entire back from the tops of his shoulders to his waist. Perhaps it's a sign? derekshank
Perhaps it's a sign? Not if it's going to take a 2nd round pick it's not.To tell you the truth, I was all about the 2nd day TE pick Brent Celek out of UC... but we have so many holes on the D right now, I'd be happy as can be if we drafted nothing but defense (with the possible exception of an O-Line sleeper). TJJackson
just no - not this year, at least
schweinhart
I'd like to see the Bengals get Wes Murphy as an undrafted rook. He's easily the best run-blocking TE I saw this year and would be great to have as a ready backup for Kelly on the practice squad. But either Ronnie Ghent or Tim Day should be more than enough to replace Tony Stewart.I can't see how anyone would pick a TE -- Greg Olsen or not -- in the 1st round for the Bengals because if they're not blocking, TE's just obstruct Carson Palmer's view downfield. derekshank
Brent Celek baby. I'm hoping he goes undrafted. He's a UC boy, and the Bengals are short on TE's, so he might feel like he's got a shot here. That sounds like a reason he's prefer to come to the Bengals over any other offers he gets. bengal4life
Does anyone know if Jeremy Wiggins has signed with anyone yet? I have yet to hear his name brought up in free agency. Last year I thought he had some flashes of being a decent TE. Especially if we could sign him cheap enough to be our second stringer.
