schnarfer Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 The Browns signing of Jamal Lewis gives the a legitamte running game. With Stienbach signing also, they could have a decent running game. We need to stop the run first and foremost, I am still leary on our linebacker situation. I expect a move soon to bring a veteran into our set of young but promising backers. Quote
volcom69 Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 Im not to sure of that according to hobson they have no money and Marvin dosnt think we need one, but i hope they do get someone. Quote

Stripes Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 Odell Thurman is totally coming back. And I'm psyched about it. As for Jamal -- Good for the Browns. He was no good behind Baltimore's line, and he'll be worse behind Cleveland's. I'm more concerned with them taking Brady Quinn rather than Adrian Peterson because of this deal than I am with Jamal's impact on the field. Quote
HairOnFire Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 Nice move. RB is a devalued position these days and the Browns would be better served drafting Joe Thomas or Calvin Johnson than Adrian Peterson. Quote
Section 310 Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 Lewis is washed up. That guy hasn't been the same for the last two seasons. I'm personally glad the Brownies got him. Quote
derekshank Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 Jamal is no longer a huge upgrade over Reuben Droughns. Droughns was a good power back for the Browns, but their had O-Line problems in the running game. Steinbach might help... but I'd rather have Lewis playing for the Browns than the Ravens. (In other words... I'm not all that concerned). Quote
hrod382 Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 What about Jamal Lewis gives the Browns a legit running attack? If anything that hinders their running game. You all need to stop mentioning Odell coming back, it's getting my hopes up haha. Quote
Kazkal Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 hmmmm wonder if this means theyll pass on AP.....if so good =) woulden't wanna see him for next 10 years inless he busted hehPS,Stop with LB posts. Quote
Scottishbengal Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 Well Jamal moving to the Browns certainly hasn't made the AFCN any easier. We (The Bengals) need to have some serious improvement if we are going to take the divisional title this year, especially on the D.Yo Marvin, 4 years done and we're still sh1te against the run, soft in the secondary, still give up big 3rd down plays - etc etc etc! Hey, you all know the story. Quote
Kazkal Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 Actually we did improve agaist run even though we were easier to pass on....but with how banged up our LB's were i was happy see little improvement we did Quote
Dawg BpG Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 OMG, Rueben is better than Jamal Lewis? You guys need to quit smoking that rock...for real...LOLA one year deal, so he can audition for a big (Multi year) contract which he would not have receive anywhere else. Phil is almost doing him a favor in an effort to stay loyal to his guys. Best Case Scenario, we draft Joe Thomas, and POUND the right side of any defensive line (Our left).Steinbach standing next to Thomas....:Drooling:You can get solid running backs in ANY draft. I hate when people compare Peterson to LT....He isn't LT, he can't be, no one has EVER been LT before, and no one ever will. He is an upright runner with injury concern.Joe Thomas is my guy and I am sticking to it. Quote
HairOnFire Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 Best Case Scenario, we draft Joe Thomas, and POUND the right side of any defensive line (Our left). Exactly my point. It's a move in free agency that frees up their draft options. The Browns have been miserable forever due to their habit of ignoring the offensive line in the draft in favor of throwing too much money at older free agent offensive lineman. It's never come close to working for them, and the poor play has hindered the development of their young skill players. But Eric Steinbach is still young and paired with Joe Thomas, or perhaps a lineman drafted at the top of round 2, would be a staggering upgrade for the Browns, and a clear sign that they finally get it. ShulaSteakhouse Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 Hair advocating an older, "big name" in FA to free up draft options? What's this? But yes Joe Thomas would be a good pick for the Browns, and they may even be able to trade down a spot or so to get him. Quote

Dawg BpG Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 But yes Joe Thomas would be a good pick for the Browns, and they may even be able to trade down a spot or so to get himI wish.... that won't happen. Detroit is either going to trade the pick to someone that wants Thomas, or they will take Thomas at two. Mark it down....I really hope I am wrong though. I also have to add I am not a fan of the two top free agents "History" being arrest record. however, when you look at it, Jamal Lewis has never had any problems at the PRO level. He had his cocain incident when he was in College and it came to the surface (not surprisingly) after he had his 2,000 + yard season. Steinbach I have always conteded is not a guy with character isues. Boats, Booze and Breasts, I don't think that is a crime. LOL It is a fantasy Hair advocating an older, "big name" in FA to free up draft options? Phil isn't Butch Davis.....but if they ask for a 4th or 5th rounder...I might think about it, but Phil wont. He covets his draft picks too much to do that, even though in hindsight, Butch Davis had a great draft that year. KW2, and Sean Jones first two rounds. Quote

cincy9275 Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 this is a good signing for me i live near a lot of clown fans . he is now going to get drafted way higher in fantasy than he deserves. which will give me some nice options to defend my championship . but in reality this feels a lot like the Garcia debacle. You attempt to mock what I'm saying in one breath and then agree with me in the next. Frankly, I think all you've done is point out that my opinions aren't those of a dedicated homer since the strategy is just as sound when applied to other teams. Quote
