WhoDey93285
Still a long road ahead for David, but this is definately good news.Take your time, pal. Make sure you're 100%, no need to hurry and risk further injury. Good luck and I hope the best for you which is all anyone can really do right now. Kazkal
I only want to see hime comeback if it's at same risk of him hurting his neck before the injury....Would love to see pollack back in 2008 though....
turningpoint
Funny, Palmer was pretty much rushed to the field for his leg.People really don't care when he gets back we just want him back.
Stripes
Funny, Palmer was pretty much rushed to the field for his leg.The difference lies in the nature of the two injuries. Pollack broke his neck, and that's far more severe than a few torn knee ligaments ever could be (obviously).
Kazkal
could swore 95% of people cared about carsons health first...that if chance of increased injury coming back that they rather risk wright starting the season 2-2.

Pollack broke his neck, and that's far more severe than a few torn knee ligaments ever could be (obviously). That and the difference is that if Pollack reinjures his neck because he rushes it, his career's not just over. He's dead. This ain't just football.

Section 310
Assume everything heals perfectly and there is no concern with the doctors about reinjury. The guy has been unable to use the muscles in his shoulders and neck for 6 months. They have probably atrophed to the point where it will take him another year to get back into football shape. I wouldn't count on anything but IR in 2007.
walzav29
He should hang 'em up. I like him, but I'm not counting on seeing him again. Good luck to you Pollack. Take Henry, Frostee, O'Neal, C. Perry, Tory, J. Smith, and Odell with you.
GregCook
I've seen other posts trashing Rucker but all he's done since draft day is stay out of the news. A.J. had that roommate thing right after the draft, but silence ever since. What is the beef against these guys? Back on topic, Pollack would be nuts to resume his nfl career. I hope he never suits up.He should hang 'em up. I like him, but I'm not counting on seeing him again. Good luck to you Pollack. Take Henry, Frostee, O'Neal, C. Perry, Tory, J. Smith, and Odell with you.

SteelerFan87
This is good news. After all the terrible tragedies lately, like Darrent Williams and that kicker from USC, seeing that a guy with a major injury is predicted to make a full recovery is a nice thing to see. oldschooler
Agent: Pollack's goal is to return to NFL actionBy CARROLL ROGERSThe Atlanta Journal-Constitution Published on: 01/09/07 Given the success of his recent neck surgery and if his rehabilitation goes well, former Georgia All-American defensive end David Pollack can give thought to returning to football, as early as next season, according to Pollack's agent R.J. Gonser. Pollack suffered a fracture of his C-6 vertebra making a tackle in a game for the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 17. In the months that followed, when the second-year NFL linebacker was mobilized in a halo, he had to contemplate the real possibility of life without football. But Pollack has been told recently he might not have to shut those doors."David is a spiritual guy," Gonser said Monday afternoon. "If a doctor said there was a 10 percent chance of re-injuring his neck, he probably would not play. We don't think that's going to be the case. (We think) he should be cleared this offseason." When asked if Pollack has hopes of playing next season, Gonser said: "That's his goal."Pollack had surgery last Wednesday to stabilize his neck. He was out of the hospital and back at his suburban Cincinnati home the following day, Gonser said."The biggest thing initially was, 'Was it going to be life-altering,'" Gonser said. "He was lucky enough to be in a position where he could have a normal life and then it was a football question. Now the football question is looking good."Pollack did not return messages Monday.http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/u...UZTZUUUWUcU_UZU]UbUcTYWVVZV&urcm=y

walzav29
I think Smith is ok, but he is not worth big money. Like it or not the Bengals need a DE who can generate a pass rush on the QB. There is never any pressure on the quarterbacks.
ShulaSteakhouse
Need to remember Pollack's played football his whole life and never had any problems like this before - truly a rare, freak accident. My concern would be if he'll ever be the same psychologically after this, and how long it'll take him to get his upper body strength back after so much time spent basically immobolized. If you've seen him lately, he doesn't look like the same athlete he was before the injury. Even if he's cleared and decides to return, I don't think you can count on him to fill a spot like before - his comeback should be considered a bonus and next season might be slow going for him regardless. Pollack's agent has claimed the surgery was less complicated than anyone could have predicted just a few weeks ago, and further claimed that Pollack would probably be cleared to begin light weight lifting in a month. HoosierCat
While cruising other boards looking at reaction to the Geathers signing, I ran across an interesting (to me at least) post on the bengals.com board saying that Dave Lapham has said that if Pollack returns in '07, they will nix the OLB experiment and have him bulk back up and move back to DE, initially in a 3rd-down-pass-rush role.I have no idea if Lap is right, but I like the idea. At the very least, it would likely get him back quicker in a more effective role.
