HoosierCat
A bit of variation so far...Prisco hasn't updated the intro copy but has done the rankings. Tasher
I don't know about all this.We beat the Saints IN THEIR PLACE just a couple of weeks ago. And we are arguably playing better NOW. So how are we behind them? Just based on record? What about the Ravens? Same could be said here.So I don't get it.Well, we will find out about this club in the coming weeks. Are they the best week in and week out? Do they have the consistency to play well every week? We'll find out.Who Dey!
HoosierCat
And, of course, the 'Zone's (if ESPN is right Eric's not as much of a homer as he thinks!):http://www.bengalszone.com/power_rankings.php

And we are arguably playing better NOW. So how are we behind them? Just based on record? Tasher: I put the Saints above us, because I don't have confidence that we'd force the same amount of crucial turnovers as we did last time. They pretty well ran over us offensively, but we managed to force a couple of mistakes. If that doesn't happen, the game easily goes the other direction.Maye we'll get chance to meet them in the Super Bowl where I'd be more than happy for the Bengals to prove me wrong And, of course, the 'Zone's (if ESPN is right Eric's not as much of a homer as he thinks!):http://www.bengalszone.com/power_rankings.php Wow, I'm shocked. Pleasantly, of course...
derekshank
The Saints are ranked ahead of us because we beat them 4 weeks ago. New Orleans just absolutely spanked what was believed to be the class of the NFC on prime time on the road. You don't get a whole lot more impressive than that victory. But just think... if we can jump 3 spots and get in the top 5 winning a home game against the 2-10 Raiders... imagine what a prime time victory @Indianapolis might do. #2 next week? Maybe not... but we'll be threatening. We'll get our glory if we take care of business this week.
bengalboomer7
Power rankings this late in the year surely account body of work(entire season) In that case, Baltimore and New Orleans should be ahead of us.
DC_Bengals_Fan
Power rankings this late in the year surely account body of work(entire season) In that case, Baltimore and New Orleans should be ahead of us.Baltimore deserves it - their record is better, and we split the season series. But the Saints, it's ridiculous. The rankings do not account for the fact that the NFC is absolutely putrid. Sure, NO has more wins, but it's against mainly crappy competition, and as mentioned, we took care of them in NO. There shouldn't be a single NFC team in the top 8 power ranks. As mentioned, people put the Saints high because of an impressive win over Dallas. OK. But to me, that says how much Dallas was overranked (like usual), more than it says anything about the Saints. Good team, sure, but not a playoff team if they played in the AFC. agreen_112
If we beat Indy then Denver we're most definitely #1. Beating Indy should put us at #2. San Diego's playing at the top of their game and are pretty much unstopable at this point. I still think we're a better team than Baltimore and Indy, I can't wait to spank Indy Monday Night. This is actaully the best Monday Night Matchup of the season, IMO. Monday night football has been pretty crappy this whole year. ESPN really dropped the ball on the game selections.
stilldiesel
The Bengals and Jaguars have a little of that '05 Steelers look to them. There will be no easy games for anyone in the AFC playoffs.

Monday night football has been pretty crappy this whole year. ESPN really dropped the ball on the game selections. If SD doesn't lose, they stay #1 for the duration. If NE wins out, they'll probably stay ahead of us too - they have an annual bad game against MIA.I agree with you about MNF, the games have sucked. I think more than anything, NBC outfoxed ESPN with flex scheduling. They also realized that most of the country would rather watch good teams instead of seeing WAS, NYG, DAL, and GB 3 times each per year. derekshank
The Bengals and Jaguars have a little of that '05 Steelers look to them. There will be no easy games for anyone in the AFC playoffs. The Jags are clearly not a bad team... but I'm tired of hearing talking heads say they are the team to watch out for. Why? Because they beat the Colts? Well, who isn't able to run the ball on the Colts? The Jags have won a whole 2 games in a row. They beat Miami last week (big deal) and lost to Buffalo the previous week. And let's not forget that they were swept by Houston this year. Do you know what it is? Everyone still has that Monday nighter in their heads where the Jags beat Pittsburgh 9-0. Well, that game proved to be a lot less impressive than we all thought at the time. They will not win out... they will not get the #5 seed... they will not win a playoff game (If they even make it). That's my prediction about Jacksonville.
Stripes
I don't mind seeing the Saints ahead of the Bengals. They are built just like us, and they've been dominant of late as well. The Cowboys have been overrated, but the Saints absolutely smeared them on the road. That was impressive.Considering our record, #5 is great in my book. TJJackson
Who cares where we are ranked :-) Give me the playoffs and playoff wins and rank every team in the NFL above us, for all I care.Honestly, tho, I'd place the Bengals in the top 6 or so given how they are playing right now. Here's to hoping we stay hot
ShulaSteakhouse
6th-9th is a bit low any way you slice it for a team's who's beaten 2 division champs and won 4 in a row in the last month, and are 8-5.The rankings are meaningless so who cares ultimately - and I'm sure you will see them in the top 3-4, at least, if they win Monday Night. We are better than the Saints, and Patriots (and I'd argue the Ravens, Bears and Colts too). I just don't have a problem when the rest of the world doesn't see it like that. MacD BengalFan
Who cares where we are ranked :-) Give me the playoffs and playoff wins and rank every team in the NFL above us, for all I care.My exact sentiments. Why even bother with these power rankings when they are so subjective to biases of the individual. The truth will be settled on the field come playoff time.
