CarsonPalmer9 Posted December 2, 2006 Report Posted December 2, 2006 There is a that Peyton Manning might not play in the colts game in two weeks. So we all better hope for a charger loss and a colts win. Maybe this is wishful thinking but it is a possiblity and could really help us out at the end.Ps- whos to say we cant go to the SB Quote

bengalboomer7 Posted December 2, 2006 Report Posted December 2, 2006 Unfortunately, it's probably too early for that. Quote
membengal Posted December 2, 2006 Report Posted December 2, 2006 Look, after the way the Colts effed up the end of last year and then were not ready for the playoffs because their guys were uber-rusty, just count on seeing a fully ready and starter-laden Colts team when we play them.We will have to beat them straight up, and, we can. It was a close game last year, and maybe we can go to school on it. At the least, no longer having Ohalete at S may help.Get past the Raiders, and it gets very interesting for that Monday night game...Thrilled that the Bengals have added fun to the end of the season again. kurgan74 Posted December 2, 2006 Report Posted December 2, 2006 Keep dreaming...with the COlts locked in a dogfight with the Chargers forhomefield throughout the playoffs, Manning will be behind center for the game, unless he gets injured. Besides I would rather see the Bengalsbeat the Colts with Manning that way there would be no excuses. Quote
Kirkendall Posted December 2, 2006 Report Posted December 2, 2006 Looks at it on a personal level. Manning isn't going to want to stop his consecutive games played streak. Quote
TJJackson Posted December 2, 2006 Report Posted December 2, 2006 How about the possibility he plays only a quarter or two? That'd still benefit us, and he'd retain his streak of games started, and would keep the rust off. Quote
Dan2330 Posted December 2, 2006 Report Posted December 2, 2006 Hope not since I have tickets and want to see a classic dog fight between the Bengals and Colts. Besides after sitting about five rows behind the Colts bench in the Steeler playoff game last year you could see the disfunction not only on the field but off it too- the Colts players had the deer in headlights look going during the entire game. derekshank Posted December 2, 2006 Report Posted December 2, 2006 It's way too early to sit Manning. If they sat him, and got a first round bye, that would be 4 weeks without playing competitive football for him. He will play against us. Quote
sexywendy Posted December 2, 2006 Report Posted December 2, 2006 Dont be an idiot it would be too early to sit Peyton.Hell if they sit him the last 3 weeks he would be rusty as hell for the playoffs. Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted December 2, 2006 Report Posted December 2, 2006 I assure you Peyton Manning will play the entire game for two reasons. The first has already been mentioned in a few of the above posts. They don't want him having too long of a layoff before the post season and losing any sharpness. The second is they're playing a Prime Time game on a Monday Night, at home, against another high powered offense with home field advantage in the playoffs probably at stake.Simply, I'll bet every "Zone Dollar" I have it won't happen. Stripes Posted December 2, 2006 Report Posted December 2, 2006 Yeah, he'll play. Unfortunately for the Colts, so will Carson. :player: Quote

Absolutely 100% correct.the 3 things i've said to anybody who's made a mention of sitting Manning, or other starters in that game have been1) Not after how rusty they were in the playoffs last year...they play all 16 games, only 1st qtr of the last game, because they already know they'll have a bye.2) It's Monday Night Football, the biggest national regular season stage in football. ......and you left out #33) The Bengals are still in the Playoff run, which means, if they make it, its possible that these 2 teams may play again, so you would obviously want to gauge your team against a "possible" playoff opponent, so you will be better prepared and make any necessary corrections come playoff time. It would actually be a benefit for the Colts to bring a very vanilla game-plan. THey would not expose anything to the Bengals that they might want to use in the playoffs - and meanwhile, the Bengals would have to pull out all the stops to try to squeak into the playoffs. The other arguments are convincing enough. Manning will play. But we can hope for the losses to the Chargers anyway giving the Colts some breathing room... because as mentioned above - they won't need the win as much as we do, they aren't chasing history (they already have a loss), and they will want to give the rest of the league as little of their playbook as possible in the last few weeks if they don't need to. But given that it is Monday night, and the whole country will be watching... I'm guessing the Colts will want this win. Quote
