ShulaSteakhouse
Peter Kerasotis, Florida TodayWhy is Michael Irvin still employed? And why am I typing that sentence?Opining on Romo's athleticism and how, the day before, Romo outplayed Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, Irvin said this:"He doesn't look like he's that type of an athlete, but he is. He is, man."And here's why."Somewhere there are some brothers in that line," Irvin added. "I don't know who saw what, where. His great, great, great, great grandma ran over in the 'hood, or something went down."So I guess it's okay for someone in Irvin's high profile network position to be making comments like this? So every great white athlete is supposed to be part African American/black? Whatever Irvin.Would it be ok if a commentator on TV mentioned that every smart black guy has some "white in him?"Uh, no. Because it's not true. Black people can be smart and white people can be great athletes. It happens all the time. Stop with the stereotyping nonsense. Irvin should probably be fired.Plus I'm sick of hearing his extreme bias on the Cowboys every time he's on each week, gets old.

agreen_112
Screw him he's a crackhead anyways. "Stu (Stuart Scott), It wasn't mine. It [The Crackpipe] was a friends."I still like him on ESPN though, he's pretty entertaining to watch and listen to his stupid comments. He probably won't be fired because he's Black. And when he isn't fired let that be a lesson to all of you that Minorities have the upperhand in every gotdamn situation possible...

Besides, regardless of his somewhat racist and definitely inappropriate remarks(which I didn't hear, so I don't know if he said this in a joking way)he should be fired since he is an AWFUL sports commentator. He and Shannon Sharp need to be tossed on their asses. ESPN can get Tiki Barber at the end of the season to replace him...he's black, so that issue is moot, and he's actually a smart and eloquent guy. And CBS should take Solomon Wilcots away from NFL network skince he's also able to give intelligent and well-spoken opinions.
SteelerFan87
Oh, but Irvin meant it as a "compliment"!I mean, when someone implies that a guy's race is athleticly inferior and that his great great grandmother was a whore, that's a compliment, right? Dan2330
Anyone remember Rush Limbaugh and his comments about McNabb on ESPN, let's see exactly what happened to Rush? I never liked Rush anyways so I say see you later but if I recall ESPN was very slow in reacting to his comments until it got enough national attention. I still recall watching a week later as Irvin and Tom Jackson made excuses for not calling Rush out on live tv when they had a chance- I have always hated Irvin, any guy that buys a first class seat for his suit from Dallas to Bristol is an assclown in my book
BengalChamps
There is such a double standard when it comes to some of these athletes. Any white commentator would have been fired.

One of my favorite Sunday NFL Countdown moments:Tom Jackson to Michael Irvin (regarding a topic I can't recall):"Are you retarded?" I never heard anything about this until now. It blows my mind that someone from "The U" would go and say something like this. TDB...did that really happen? I would have loved to see both of their faces. Stripes
TDB...did that really happen? I would have loved to see both of their faces.Yes indeed. Irvin said something outlandish, and that was Jackson's reply.
