Kazkal
I'm not sure how I feel about chuck,I do question him though after the raiders made a superbowl run they let him go...if he was that good of a defensive coordinator why would they let him go? If you voted No who are some candidates for his replacement?
Defender
I remember a few Raider fans posted here right after he was hired and pretty much dumped on him and gave a bunch of reasons why they were glad he was gone. Don't remember what they were, maybe someone can bump the topic?I don't know, I'm 50/50. On one hand I'm sure he was planning on Pollack playing up to his potential this season, Sam Adams clogging the middle, and the secondary forcing 1-2 INTs per game. But you play the hand you're dealt and I'm not sure he's doing the best with what he's got. I can't think of anyone who Marvin would replace him with who'd be better (besides Marvin ofcourse). JaxonFord87
I say that he should remain the D coordinator until at least after next season.

There has been major upheaval in the Bengals defensive roster this season, no doubt. The best I can say is the same as above...he is doing the best with what he's got. All I can pray for is we go first and foremost for defensive help in the next draft, otherwise, IMHO, expect these sort of losses for years to come. CBin2k7
I don't think you would go after Ron Rivera from the Bears if your the Bengals and here's why. First of all, the Bears run a Cover 2 scheme...the Tampa 2 sorta revised, I don't think that is a defense you want to see here, it will probably generate similar results for us to what the Colts put out there, or even what we have now. It works well for the Bears because they have a great MLB, and a front 4 that puts pressure on the QB without having to blitz. The Bengals can't pressure the QB with just their front 4, at least not right now. The Bengals corners, assuming it will be Deltha and JJ next year, are better in man coverage. To have them playing zone consistently would be putting them in a position to waste their talents. I think if Marvin is unhappy with Chuck, he may look in house... someone like Kevin Coyle could be a possibility, it's hard to tell exactly who he may pursue, and would you really want to set your defense back a year learning a new scheme.Best bet would be to replace the d-line/LB coaches, but I doubt that happens. SkinneymulleT
continuity has something to do with success. Playing musical chair with d q cant be good and would surely mean a step back for another year untill the player by in. In addition, how good would our d be with odell, pollack situational pass rusher and ahmed at strong side. Alot of our big plays have been missed tackle, poor coverage by lb's. HoosierCat
I think he could find himself out much like Frazier:not really his fault, but a scapegoat. D hasnt played well this year, but like Frazier the tools he has to work with are suspect.
bengalboomer7
You can't make chicken salad out of chicken s**t. Our front seven needs to seriously be addressed. i really don't have too many problems with our secondary, and they'd look even better if the opposing QB didn't have 10 minutes to find a reciever I'm ready for a personnel overhaulJ Thornton=goneJ Smith=goneB Simmons=gone As far as chuck goes, I dont'care much. He's impessed me some and baffled me some(kinda like Brat) If we do hire somebody, I don't want it in house, and i want someone with some pedigree
Stripes
I think we already have the talent all over the defense to have success. I think we could do better than Bresh, but he's not the only guy that needs blamed. The players on defense struggle with a lot of the fundamentals that can only be coached... The linebackers specifically.

membengal
yeah, get rid of that albatross justin smith and his 12 tackles and 1/2 a sack last game. f**king poser. And f**k Justin Smith for his 6.5 sacks this year. Tool. Clearly Bruce Smith's equivalent is available for that spot in free agency, right? Or, in the draft, right? The problem with this team is totally Justin Smith. So glad we got to the bottom of this...
BULLDOGG
The problem is DEFINATELY the front seven. The secondary (minus James, who needs to be replaced immediately) has played decently. Madeiu Williams and Jonathan Joseph are having GREAT seasons and O'Neal has played OK (not as well as last year in coverage or creating turnovers, though). Dex Jackson is still injured and although he stuggled some against Crumpler, has been an upgrade. Kaesviharn has made some huge plays, too. James is definately the weakest link and has become a weekly target for QB's. I believe he has given up a touchdown pass in nearly every game or at least a long completion/PI call. The front seven has grossly underperformed. Really, the more that I think about it, it's really 3 positions that are killing the defense. We are solid at DE, as Justin and Jumpy have had Pro-Bowl calibar seasons so far. Sam Adams has done his job. Brooks has been hot and cold, but overall, has played at least as well through 3 games as Odell did last year, minus the turnovers that Odell created. Brooks has proven to be the defense's second best tackler on the D this year. That leaves us coming up short at the other DT (Thornton is always out of the play) and OLB's who have missed a ton of tackles. Your outside linebackers are very key to the defense, especially the weakside. They simply have to make plays. I think that Caleb Miller has played OK, but he is more suited, as is Johnson for backup/special teams dutites. We need to upgrade these positions in the offseason. KK should have had it.Then there was O'Neal on the dump off TD to the FB/RB that should have been pick six...Ya da, ya da, ya da
