TJJackson
It will likely be missed by some in light of the fact that the headlining item in this article is the announcement of Odell's 1 year suspension, but not by me.Even worse than a crappy but healthy player is a crappy injured player - you can't just release him, you have to pay him for the remainder of the year or pay an injury settlement. I pray they do just that. One of the worst 3rd round draft picks by the Bengals ever.http://www.bengals.com/news/news.asp?story_id=5535

Its humorous listening to the negativity about players not even on the field. Hopefully all can get healthy in all aspects and contribute in the future. Right now, we are leading the pack You're right, the injury doesn't prove he's bad. I think it's frustration that, in addition to bad, he's injured, thus making a bad 3rd round pick even worse.Honestly, the way to maintain a dynasty is to make good mid round picks. Peko? Looks good. Frostee? Looked dumb at the time and continues to look dumber. Especially with "how the hell did he fall so far?" guys like Ko Simpson on the board, who projected better than Frostee, was at a position of need, and didn't have charges pending. In summary, getting hurt doesn't make this pick stupid. It didn't have to.

membengal
Where are we at from the "worst draft ever" © tj, kingwilly and others?1. Jonathan Joseph---pushing for starting job, already impacting games as the third corner2. Andrew Whitworth---already filling in for injured starters on the line, primary back-up at several positions3. Frostee Rucker---hurt and done for the year4. Demato Peko---stalwart in DT rotation, impacting games5. AJ Nicholson---back-up somewhere on LB, hasn't played yet6. Reggie McNeal---On team, kick return specialist at moment7. Ethan Kilmer---On team, already a stalwart on special teams.Gotta say, on balance, that draft, for all of the bitching about it, has been immediately helpful and has contributed greatly to a 3-0 start. Even with the unknown of what Rucker someday will or will not be...

I'm happy with that.
HoosierCat
DC Bengals Fan is gonna have to change his avatar. Hair will be bummed.Oh well, hope to see the Non-Dairy Dessert back again next year.Interesting pickup to fill the hole in Andre Frazier. PMThor
The only good thing about this is Andre Frazier gets on the team. I work with his father, great captain, great guy, quiet and reliable. If his son is anything like his Pop, he will surprise people with his play. Even with the unknown of what Rucker someday will or will not be...I think the bitching was because the 7 players included 2 felons, 2 WRs (position of ridiculous depth), 1 OL (implied they were giving up on one of our starters), and one (Rucker) who was both crappy and a felon. Oh, and we didn't get a TE, which many think/thought we desperately needed. And don't forget about Brooks, for whom we burned a 3rd from NEXT year.At this point, I'd say I'm pleasantly surprised by Joseph's ability already. Thought he'd be more of a project than he seems to be. Have to be happy with Peko even if you're a total cynic. After that.... Whitworth looks kind of like an insurance pick at this point, but I sure hope he can learn G, and fast. Rucker sucks BAD. Haven't seen anything from Brooks that suggests he would be worth taking in the 3rd even assuming he wasn't a serious character risk. Haven't heard a peep from Jack Nicholson. 6-7th is a crapshoot, so can't complain there, really. So all in all, it's a mediocre to somewhat poor draft, but not terrible even by Bengals standards. If the Lions came out with this draft they'd be elated. Much of the vitriol centers around the fact that Rucker projected as about a 6th round pick...BEFORE all the crap came out about him that the Bengals evidently didn't want to know (but that was common knowledge in the week before the draft). How the hell he goes in the 3rd, I don't have any idea. He has all of Brooks' problems (and more) and none of his upside. As has been mentioned many times, I'd wager anything Marvin had nothing to do with that pick.Hey Hoosier...I think you're right - no fun when your avatar's on IR. I need one with an idiot from the active roster.
TJJackson
I'm going to admit my suprise here and now that they chose not to elevate a certain practice squad DE I hold in high regard to the active roster, and instead went outside the organization to pull a guy in, but I am guessing this has a lot to do with Fanene returning soon.....and frazier will be almost certainly gone when Fanene comes off PUP, barring another injury at DE or LB

TJJackson
I was kinda hoping they'd elevate the above-mentioned DE to the roster then also pull LB Terna Nande onto the practice squadhttp://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/art...0387/1067/SPT02

I still think we never should have picked up chatman.TJ,I know who he is hehe I corrected my post alrdy I was thinking I thought they ment brooks and just messd up on his first name... but he'll be a non factor like you said hes most likely gonna be cut or ps'd week 6If we get 3 starters out of the draft nect year i'd say it was a success. HoosierCat
frazier will be almost certainly gone when Fanene comes off PUPDon't count on it. Marvin, via Curnutte's blog (emphasis added):On the acquisition of linebacker Andre Frazier: "He really excelled on special teams in Pittsburgh last year. He did a good job in coverage. Unfortunately, he got hurt in the AFC Championship Game. They released him. We were looking for a guy to come in and contribute on special teams and back up our linebackers. He fits the bill. We tried hard to sign him as a free agent after UC and weren’t able to do it, and now we’ve got him."
BengalChamps
Obviously Frucker was a bad pick and i bet the Bengals would admit that privately. I'm sure though that they will keep him around just for training camp depth for next year.

Not saying this guy was that great, but he was good in his role. The Steelers have really hurt their special teams through losses/changes, and this was just one part of that. Let's call it the "Draft formerly known as the worst draft ever"1. JJ - looking far better than what I thought. Earned his $ at Pitt.2. Whit...still a reach but better than expected.3. crap4. Domato..tough. maybe best pick of 06.5 AJ...I said he was good value but a risk. it has paid off so far.6. RMc...not expecting alot. value at 6 but needed DE's 7. EK...ST killer, hard to go wonrg at 7. only upside. Would be nice if he'd learn to cover a WR. plenty of time.
