aaronburr Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 Did anybody really expect that we'd beat both KC and the Steelers on the road? Yes, there's a lot of football to play, but I think the 3-0 start bodes very well for the rest of the season. Many "experts" saw our tough schedule, questioned Carson's health, and wondered if we'd be able to do better than 8-8.Now, when I look at our remaining 13 games, I see...games against the Bucs, Panthers and Denver that look much more win-able than before...4 remaining division games, of which we should win at least 2...potential challenges against New England, Atlanta, San Diego and Indianapolis that won't shake this team's confidence like they may have before...and games against the Saints and Raiders.I would no longer be surprised to see a 11-5 or 12-4 record. If you would have told me in even June or July we would be 3-0 today I would have said you were nuts.Now...if we can avoid a letdown vs. NE next week...a very winnable game in which the Bengals ought to be more than just homefield advantage-level favorites...then we roll into the bye at 4-0. A record that all things considered is bloody freakin' astonishing. Quote
Wisk Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 And how huge would it be to go into the bye week 4-0 after New England? We can only hope!Good post Aaron Burr!(not bad for a dueling Vice-President for you history buffs!) Quote
jjakq27 Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 They kept their composure and it showed. They could have folded several different times but didn't. This team is far from perfect but they went into two of the toughest places to play and came out with two wins. I will take that any day.We made them look like us from the pre-Marvin era.Oh yeah one more thing. Somebody needs to tell Joey Porter that the game started. And TJ knows who his daddy is and it's not Porter. Quote
membengal Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 I sure as hell didn't see it coming. I figured them for 2-2 after the first four games, and had them down for 10-6.Thrilled that I am wrong so far. Quote
bengalboomer7 Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 3-0 is great, but we have some tough games ahead. Schedule is brutal as 5 of our next 7 or so games are against teams that are currently undefeated, and the two that aren't were in the playoffs last year. Winning these early games really bodes well.I kept saying out loud what happened to joey Porter. I don't remember them calling his name once. Taz didn't do much eitherGreat Game Quote
buck3y3d Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 Personally, and Im not being a homer here, I really dont see the Bengals losing more than 2 games. I think our D will carry us. With the exception of James, our secondary is dominant. If the line and LBs continue to progress (rough day today), then we are in great shape. Quote

Odell might not have a huge impact but he adds depth and I'm sure will end up with a situational role. Instintively I always think 11 or 12 wins is optimistic, but when you really think about it the Bengals really do overmatch every opponent. Teams need to be on top of almost every aspect of their games to hold us under 20 points. You slack in any one area and this team makes you pay for it. I say at most we lose one game to the Steelers or Ravens, and then one possibly to the Colts. 14-2 wouldn't surprise me. Quote
Kazkal Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 At this point only game I think will be least winnable is falcons.their rushing attack scares me. Quote
PMThor Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 I hope there is no letdown. The Pats are right there in front of us.... Quote
AGrizzlyBaer Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 im excited about getting the pats into cincy bring on corey and lets see a smack down by some of our guys Quote
HoosierCat Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 Pats not impressing tonight... Quote
ArmyBengal Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 Yep, down 10-0 at home... Next week is VERY winable playing in the jungle !!!WHODEY !!! Quote
HoosierCat Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 For those who are still following the strength of schedule, Bengals opponents are a collective 19-17, or .528, through this week. (Or will be, they are 17-15 now but the two games remaining, Pats/Broncos and Saints/Falcons, are both teams we play so they will be 2-2 in all likelihood.) That's down from .560 last week. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 Make that 17-0 Broncos !!!Waiting for the thread that asks if New England losing is a good thing or a bad thing...WHODEY !!! Quote
HoosierCat Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 Update: Pats blow.(In other news, sky is blue, water is wet, etc.) Quote
duus Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 I recall a few months ago when questions still surrounded Palmer many folks (including myself) were simply hoping for a 2-2 start and getting Palmer back after the bye week. How nice is this? We have Palmer playing at the start (so no rust to get rid off in weeks 5+), and we have a legitimate opportunity to go 4-0.Not going to be easy as I bet you the Pats will come to play ... especially knowing they are getting it handed to them tonight. I was sort of hoping for a pair of 3-0 teams next week. Quote
Pinkygen Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 Make that 17-0 Broncos !!!Waiting for the thread that asks if New England losing is a good thing or a bad thing...WHODEY !!!Bad thing. I wanted them fat and happy, leading their division. Now, like the Steelers, they'll be much hungrier for a win. Losing won't panic them, Bellicheck is too good for that. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 They are looking like sh*t tonight !!! The Pats that is...WHODEY !!! Quote
derekshank Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 Quick note: Every single team that went 3-0 last year made the playoffs. We're also already exceeding what Peter King thought was our "Best Case Scenario." http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writ...ns/bengals.htmlHe had us losing @ Pittsburgh, and then losing again @ Tampa. Anyone think Tampa Bay is going to beat us now? If you updated his chart today, we should go 14-2... I'll take it. Quote
Stripes Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 My initial thoughts when I knew Palmer would play were 12-4 or 13-3. Stickin' to it. Quote
EyeoftheTiger Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 I can see us going 13-3,the team is looking good Quote
