B24
The best thing would be for people to put "PFT" in the topic title. Such as "PFT: Odell suspended for the year".That way everyone can know it's BS before opening the topic.
BengalByTheBay
Ummmm, sorry to be a fairy libertarian & all, but why do we need to put a moratorium on PFT quotes? The best way to deal with claims that are untrue is to shine the light of day on them. I'm no PFT shill, but you end up making Florio way more interesting than he would otherwise be by trying to ban what he's saying. Sorry if that ends up being a little deep -- but you get my drift, I think. Pretty much everybody starts & ends any discussion of PFT material with the disclaimer that he's often wrong and FOS. Sometimes, he is also correct about things. I think his style is simply to immediately post everything he hears, so sometimes it's right and often it's wrong. As an example, check his ben reports today -- he has admitted that his early information was flat out wrong at least once. And that's just today. I just think you elevate his stuff if you were to try to keep people from quoting it.EDIT: The prior message came in while I was writing. I totally agree that any "rumors" that originate from PFT should carry that label. For that matter, if you're simply passing on a rumor from an internet source, it's always a good idea to label it. Otherwise, when it turns out to be complete BS it looks like it was your idea.

PS: Bengalbythebay, according to Robert's Rules of Order, once a motion has been seconded, and is under vote, you can no longer comment on the issue at hand! TJJackson
I think if people don't title a PFT-based post in the following fashion....PFT - <enter the actual subject here>.....then their login here should be locked out for a monthMy heart about lept out of my chest when I saw this thread's title, and there was no need to put my poor heart through that..... bengalboomer7
Come on guys, it is what is is, a RUMOR SITE. So, it rumor. You guys know how that goes.Personally, even with all the Bengal bashing, I enjoy the site, but you just have to take it for what it si, rumor. And you can't argue it's funny. When I saw a recent pic of Marvin shaking hands with the America's Most Wanted guy, even I laughed my ass off.

derekshank
I don't really know where these rumors come from... but I'm starting to wonder if there might be a little bit of truth to it. Mainly because of the Hobson article. http://www.bengals.com/news/news.asp?story_id=5299SIMMONS RETURNS: Middle linebacker Odell Thurman was the only no-show at the mandatory camp, fueling another round of speculation about his status. Lewis said he was excused for personal reasons. So who should surface in the middle Thursday but Simmons, the eighth-year linebacker who began life as a Bengal inside before Lewis moved him to the Will backer when he arrived in 2003.In his first two seasons, Simmons played inside the 3-4 before moving to the middle when the Bengals switched to a 4-3 late in the 1999 season before a game against, of all teams, Lewis’ Ravens.“Not really,” said Simmons, when asked if it was like riding a bike. “The defense is a little different than what we ran, but at the end of day it’s football. It was different, but I didn’t feel out of place.”Third-year backer Landon Johnson, arguably the best player on the team not starting (Chris Perry when healthy?) lined up in Simmons’ spot at Will, with Pollack at Strong. Simmons said he didn’t think it was a long-term thing.I don't liking reading into these kinds of things... but wouldn't it make more sense to have Landon fill in for Odell? You wouldn't move Simmons as a starting OLB for a short term fill in for Odell. Landon played MLB almost the entire season before Odell was drafted, so he would be the more logical person for that duty. It's possible interpret this as an attempt to look into Simmons as Thurman's replacement this season. On the other hand... you could just as easily read into this story that they think Landon is ready to take over for Simmons, and therefore are giving him the reps there at WSLB.No matter the reason... I'll feel better when I see Odell on the field again.
Spain
What do you have to do to get suspended for a year? I guess he might have exercised free speech in the Bush dictatorship!
ArmyBengal
Derek, I agree, I would be much happier if Odell was present and taking these snaps, but until we get further confirmation of anything negative, I'll just continue to wear the rose colored glasses for a little longer. Although I must say, after Henry and Nicholson, the rose tint just isn't what it use to be !!!WHODEY !!!
HoosierCat
I don't really know where these rumors come from... but I'm starting to wonder if there might be a little bit of truth to it.Same here. I can't figure out how he could possibly get hit with a major year-long ban, but I will no longer be surprised if he suddenly pops up with a Clemons-like 4-game suspension... bengalboomer7
If that's true (he's gettign his degree) than I think it show Odell has "high charatcer" probably means nothing, but with the off season we've had, any chance i get to type "high character" I'm gonna take it. andybren
I'm sure Marvin would encourage all of his players to educate themselves, but only if it doesn't interfere with mandatory practices. There's no reason why Odell couldn't have done classes in the spring, or online, and not had to miss mini-camp.I suspect Odell may be doing some voluntary rehab. Don't know how that would fit in the league's drug system, but I'm sure we're still a few steps away from a year-long suspension. For what it's worth, Goggle tells me that most suspensions are announced in August/September. So even if Odell gets a 4 game rest, we probably won't know for a while. Officially, that is.
