HairOnFire
From Lance's Insider....Carson Palmer is now 8-9 weeks ahead of schedule. It now appears he will start the season as he is progressing rapidly. Team doctors are very encouraged that he has strengthened the leg to a point they feel is adequate. He now moves into a stretching and aerobic phase, where he will stretch the muscles more and build the endurance in the leg. The team originally felt that Carson wouldn't begin this phase until just prior to camp in July.On Chris Henry:Chris Henry's latest incident just validated the fact he will not be a Bengal for very long. In fact Chris started to drift away from the advice Marvin had given him less than three weeks ago and is back doing the things he shouldn't be doing. The continuance of his case in Florida is no big deal as it appears he will walk away from that incident with little if any punishment from the court. The recent DUI most likely will be reduced to a Reckless Operation per what I'm told by a team official. Even though he will skirt major legal trouble he will not be Bengal long as the decision has been made.AJ Nicholson:Once the truth comes out AJ will be released of all charges. The team will not take action against AJ and will welcome his return, but his contract will be designed with clauses to protect the team and ensure he chooses better people to associate with if he plans on being paid.OL:Now that Levi Jones' agent and the Bengal's have exchanged no less than five proposals I see hope that a deal will be done by camp. From what I have seen, the differences are not that far off that it will keep the deal from getting done. Eric Steinbach isn't any closer to signing and appears to be headed towards free agency in 2007. As for Willie Anderson the team will address Willie once they complete a deal for Levi. Willie Anderson deal wouldn't come until August or September at the earliest.Players that have impressed:One player who has stepped up to the challenge is wide receiver Antonio Chatman. His repoire with teammates and workmanship has impressed. Antonio will be a nice fit in this offense in 2006.Tory James looks good. He's much more fit than he was in 2005 and his acceleration in the drop is very quick. Tory has taken the offseason to rededicate himself and has looked very impressive so far. Stripes
It's Lance, so I can't help but take it all with a grain of salt. I think he's a bit too bold with his Henry claims, but we'll see. Most of that is certainly great news if true.

HairOnFire
If Lance is correct, it will be his first time... I can't argue that point. That said, it is Lance's opinions that are most often proven untrue so everyone would be well served to make very little of the remarks made about Chris Henry, AJ Nicholson, Eric Steinbach, Willie Anderson, Antonio Chatman, and Tory James. Those are obvious examples of Lance being Lance, and can be taken for whatever they might be worth. (The only thing I agreed with was his remarks about Willie Anderson.) However, I did think the two items I placed in BOLD were interesting enough to post. Those were the non-opinion bits about Palmer moving into the aerobic phase of his rehab, and the mention that the Bengals and Levi Jones had exchanged at least 5 contract proposals.I told you all it was too soon to count Tory out! Biggie, it's early June. Let's talk about how much Tory James might have left in November....because that's the point his wheels have started to come off in each of the last two seasons. derekshank
I think all the points he made about Henry seem to indicate that he will still be with the team this year. It's all a shame because the more I think about it, the more I believe this kid needs some jail time to straighten out... but he's got money, so he'd have to kill someone first.Anyway... if he can manage to stay out of any further trouble (which has proven quite difficult thus far) I imagine he'll will continue to be a productive member of the Bengals. On the other hand... Lance's quote about Nicholson choosing better people to associate with sounds pretty difficult with guys like Henry on the roster.
HoTbOy
I just hope the CPalmer part is correct , the rest would be sugar in da kool-aid...say bye-bye to CHenry15 now...we just win the AFCN, CHenry as been arrested for gun possession, smoking and drinking while driving...now what if we win the SB a we go see the President and CHenry smokes and drinks on the way there, while packing his gun....you think the guy at PFT is on us now just wait...seriously let him go... ShulaSteakhouse
I do believe Henry is a goner. That isn't a stretch. Again, the Bengals went to the league about their options with him for a reason. You guys act as if he's just making this stuff up or proclaiming things - he's just relaying what he's told by a good source. Nothing wrong with that, just because it isn't always something you want to hear, doesn't mean it doesn't hold some truth. It's more informative than what Hobson writes at least. HairOnFire
Since this thread has largely degenerated into a discussion of the credibility of Lance McAllister I might as well throw this very featherweighted Lance-style rumor into the mix. This morning I was mostly ignoring the blathering that is ESPN's Cold Pizza when a sportswriter identified as James Trotter spoke about contract negotiations now taking place between the Redskins and Junior Seau. At issue is if Seau would agree to play for the Redskins if offered the NFL veteran minimum. Trotter spoke at some length about the Redskins interest in Seau before closing with a remark about how Seau is currently weighing retirement, the Redskins offer, and interest from the Cincinnati Bengals. Ahhhh, the offseason.
princeton
guards are too easy to find. I've always thought that Steinbach would walk. I don't anticipate a Montoya effect when it happens

schweinhart
Hopefully the NFL network will be showing a lot of Palmer at the upcoming mini camp. He should be the top story for the next week. I'd like to round the bend into preseason believing Palmer can pull off the near impossible and start the season. So far, his progress points that way.Whitworth at left guard after 2006 makes a lot of sense and would seem the tack the Bengals will take if they can get Levi inked and pass on a Hutchison type contract for Steinbach. As for Seau in stripes, it's about as surprising as seeing Gil Brandt list Stacy Andrews for consideration among his top players under 25. walshfan
While Whitworth would seem to be an imposing road grader at the guard position, Im wondering if the team would still have a lineman that could pull effectively...Aside from Steinbach, Ive never read or heard anything about any other lineman being good at it... ArmyBengal
I would still love to see Henry play assuming he can ever pull his head out of his asspiece, but it's looking doubtful and there's no reason to think it will happen. A shame looking at all that talent getting flushed...Carson being ahead of schedule is great news, but once again, I'll believe it when he starts the season opener and would still have no issues with him resting as opposed to rushing back.Steinbach needs to stay PERIOD. You don't just let the top pick of the second round walk away. The tag seems to be applicable for Steiny if Levi gets the deal. I'll be more than willing to eat crow later, but will say now, there is no way we let the most versatile player on our o-line just walk away.WHODEY !!! schweinhart
No doubt the left guard has to pull well since the Bengals run off that so often. Whitworth should be fine with the kind of agility required by having played left tackle as well as he did. He proly won't do it quite as well as Steinbach nor does he seem as able a backup at LT or an emergency center at all, but no question Whitworth is stronger and when he's got to go straight up in pass protection against the likes of DTs like Albert Haynesworth or a 3-4 DE like Kimo, I suspect he'll fare better than Steinbach from a strength perspective at least. But the bottom line would be I'd rather see Whitworth as the left guard than the left tackle. Steinbach would definitely be an impact loss but the time to extend him may have come and went. But if the Bengals can't work it out with Levi, Steinbach might still prove to be a bargain if they think he can chore at left tackle all year. He probably can.
