I would probably pick Reggie instead of Wright or Johnson. Unless Reggie play's WR or just special teams.

I voted for Reggie! but it probably isnt realistic. He looks like an electrifying player but could he really get through all the progressions and reads that quickly? If he was to start the season that would make him the long-term backup. Do we really want a guy with his talent sitting behind CP for ever? I'd love to see what he could do a QB but I dont want him on the bench. I want a Randel-el.

Wright in a heartbeat! I remember him just tearing us up in a game in Baltimore a couple years ago.

Uh...of course tearing up that defense wasn't anything special, a few high school teams could have managed that, but he did look good doing it!

i voted wright . the guy will be surrounded by a very talent offense he has had success he lead the ravens to the playoffs he had a good completion percentage last season . and he has been in the game for what 8 seasons now you don't stay in the game that long if you don't have some value at your position. i do expect the defense to be a lot better but i don't know if they will be dominant but at least be ranked in the top 15. which we all know that will give wright some time to adjust and get comfortable running the ship.

This shouldn't even be a question, our backup is Anthony Wright. I think with him at QB we could be about .500 before Carson gets back. The real question should be who is the #3 QB? Im a big fan of Eric Meyer but i dont think he has a real chance at being the #3 because for a few weeks at least the #3 qb might be the backup. IMO that gives the edge to, as much as I hate to say it, Krenzel.

I voted for Meyer but Krenzel could probably play well enough to our advantage as well.

Yea I see what you mean ...

Just like it was to the Steelers advantage to have Kimo take a dive into Palmer's knee to kick off their post season run.

Krenzel.

Of all the games I've seen him play, he just finds a way to get it done.

He's got in intangibles I think.

I'd give him a shot.

I think you guys underestimate Doug Johnson. There's a reason he was signed before Wright....

Could be. I just know I saw him suck with the Falcons the year Vick was out for a long time. Maybe he'd be better in stripes, I dunno. Based on what I've seen, I'd take Wright or Krenzel over Johnson.

I don't think I could handle anymore old Johnson jokes from the announcing crews on CBS, by the way.

Try having your father's name be Don Johnson. I swear, I couldn't order a pizza all through the 80's <_<

Gotta be Wright... Can get the ball to our WR's downfield and has the ability to run out of the pocket. With our offense, he would look far better than he ever appeared in the Ratbird's offense.

Johnson does absolutely NOTHING for me as a QB and would be more than happy to see him cut as of today. Meyer and McNeal should be fun to watch, but think McNeal's money will be at WR, so is a non-factor in this debate.

Which brings me to Krentzel... The guy was able to get it done (albeit sloppily) in Chicago and had a great defense to bail him out. He has been on the sideline for a year with the clipboard in hand and has seen the offense in action behind Palmer. If we are saying any QB will be able to produce with our offense, why can't we say the same thing of Craig ?? The guy is smart and is a leader on the field. He may not have the arm strength, but at a minimum all you Kitna lovers should be enamored with Krentzel. I think he ends up the number three this year behind Wright.

WHODEY !!!

It's clearly a competition between Wright and Johnson at the moment. Wright is probably more talented; Johnson's had months more to study up. Krenzel I've already dismissed. The way the Bengals have collected QBs tells me they can't be very confident in his capabilities. His roster spot is very much in doubt, I think. As to Meyer or McNeal, no, the Bengals won't go the rookie route.

If Carson can't go, I'll take whichever of Wright or Johnson is more ready to go.

While I'm still expecting Carson to miss the first 4 games, every bit of news I hear on him is encouraging... so there's hope that he may only miss a game or two.

That said... Wright is the option. He's got experience, and he's not as bad as he appeared on a do nothing Ravens offense. I happen to have the game he started against us last year, and he was not bad. They couldn't find a way to get into the endzone... but our O-Line and weapons should help him a bit.

In that game, the Bengals absolutely dominated the TOP... which means that Wright wasn't on the field very much to compile stats... and he was still effective when he was in there. He completed 63% of his passes (certainly adequate for a back-up... and should improve with better weapons around him), and he also had 3 rushes for 36 yards. An aspect that Palmer doesn't really bring to the Bengals offense.

This offense certainly won't win a shoot-out with Wright in there the way it could with Palmer in there... but if our defense is improved even a little, he should give us plenty to be competitive. Brat is focusing on making Rudi more effective this season, so I think we'll be fine with Wright... as long as it is only 4 games or fewer.

I think I'll wait to se how any of the QB's do in preseason before I decide who I like as #2 emergency starter.

On a side note:

Spain said that Arrington and McNair were both going to come to the

Bengals after changing thier names and joining the witness protection program. :lmao:

None of the above. The blind homer in me says the Golden Boy will be taking the snap game 1.............

Wright. I'm betting Doug Johnson is here only for a cup of coffee.

Absolutely. And I'd charge Johnson full Starbucks price for that cup of "Joe!" Why they even asked him here is beyond me. I'm sure it makes ol' Krezel feel real special!
