HoosierCat
Obviously it's way early, but just glancing over the roster a few names popped out. I skipped the Anthony Mitchell-types, and all the QBs, but just looking at the more familiar names and more recent picks, I could see some churn:Starters:C Rich Braham - Unlikely I think with the questions at QB but conceivable if Guy-chek or Wilkerson really impresses.CB Tory James - Also unlikely but possible if someone (Ratliff, Joseph) impresses.DT John Thornton - Probably not but there's a d-line pileup and his paycheck may make him an attractive cut, esp. if they are looking for space to extend the o-line.Backups:CB Greg Brooks - Can't stay healthy (has played in 11 games in 2 years)OT Adam Keift - Faced with uphill battle to come back from a nasty injury.OT Stacy Andrews - Whitworth's selection and talk of moving the Dancing Bear to guard indicate the project may be nearing an unhappy end.WR Kelly Washington - We now have about 40 WRs on the roster.S Kevin Kaeshviharn - Marvin favorite but was never starter-quality and will turn 30 this year.LB Caleb Miller - See Greg Brooks. Has missed 13 games in 2 years as a Bengal.C/G Larry Moore - 31, coming off injury, expendable if Guy-chek and/or Wilkerson is ready for the backup role.CB Keiwan Ratliff - Unlikely but Joseph's arrival puts pressure on him to raise his game or he may be out in 2007. AGrizzlyBaer
the one i really disagree with is kk he is a solid Back up not starter he can come in and play any of the db positions. he will stay
TJJackson
Bauman also has the "can't stay healthy" issue, despite limited play time
Stripes
Of the names you listed, I think the most likely departures are Brooks, Andrews, Washington, Miller, and Moore. I also think Robinson has a good chance to be seeing the door.
TJJackson
We dont have enough safety depth (well discussed issue after this draft as well as previous draft) to release KKHe's safe this year.
The_Next_Big_Thing
You must be smoking drugs with Spain if you think either Tory or KK have any chance in the world of being on the bubble.
BTG
Since we're talking on the bubble, how many of you would like to see the Bengals try to package Jonathan Joseph and Kelly Dub to San Francisco for Manny Lawson? I'm just curious...not saying it's going to happen, but I think the 49ers would go for it. That would facilitate a switch to a 34, plus we'd get rid of someone the franchise seems to think it doesn't need.
HoosierCat
TDB, I also think they ought to look at Robinson closely...I just doubt they would pull the trigger on him so quickly. I agree with your "most likely" list.As for K2, I agree he has been a valuable backup. All I'm saying is that he's reaching an age when DBs tend to start going downhill, and his hill was never very high to begin with. If someone like Tony Bua or "Indiana" Jones beats him out for a roster spot, don't be surprised. His ability to back up at corner does give him an edge, esp. if they decide it's Tory's time to go or that ratliff isn't the player they thought. But don't forget they have a bunch of corners on special teams that will hopefully develop.
membengal
I would rather send KW and whatever else to NE for Daniel Graham...

HoosierCat
You must be smoking drugs with Spain if you think either Tory or KK have any chance in the world of being on the bubble.Nope, just facing reality. James is still a decent corner, but is clearly slowing down, and has a fat $3.8 million cap figure to boot. And Joseph wasn't drafted to replace Deltha O'Neal. Like I said, I think that in the end it's unlikely. But not impossible. We dont have enough safety depth (well discussed issue after this draft as well as previous draft) to release KKHe's safe this year.Yeah, we would have to add another safety to cut him, right?Tab Perry ( @ membengal )

cincinnatikid85
i think kk is a bum. he shouldnt be a back up at safety. the bengals should play him on special team only. he takes to many chances and gets burned every time! he may have to go to me. walshfan
I thnk they stay with KK one more year ..KDub will see the door imo.James may play the nickle early into the season if Joseph looks good.Id dump Thornton's contract right now. cincinnatikid85
joseph will start sometime during the year. james is will probaly play nickle the whole year while joseph starts week 2or3 of this season.james have nothing left he will will make some plays but will not be an impact player
HoosierCat
canNOT express enough how happy I was to see someone dredge up that old thread yonder. Awesome.I hear ya. But, hey, clearly we didn't go S in the draft b/c we have Tab in house...I remain surprised that they didn't pick a safety somewhere, tho I think one of the 7th round wideouts is being projected to DB. Still, considering how they got burned by lack of depth at the position last year, you'd think they'd have shored it up. Ratliff didn't wow me in his time at the [position, but maybe they're comfortable keeping him there? Or maybe they are thinking about moving Tory jJmes to safety? That's been suggested here and there in the past, but (lack of) speed is a concern.
membengal
joisey, I am as puzzled by their lack of attention to S as the rest of the board (even TJ...), you got me. Either they like one of the youngsters there for depth, or Tory is indeed their thought, but I HATE the idea of him at S for what you cited, lack of speed. Also, I harbor a romantic throwback notion that your Safety's should occasionally be able to deliver a nasty hit. That ain't Tory.
Kazkal
KK will stay because hes the only real backup we have if dexter or madieu go wrong we can't let him go till we find 2 safetys that are worthy to back up not 1 sense we still need 1.....Keiwan I doubt will go anywhere and will probbley be our dime cornerback this year then knickle when we lose tory.....Caleb was injured mainly last year I think they'll keep him on 1 more year but if he gets injured again and miss a large period of time then he;ll get the axe I think everyone else on list doesn't matter much if we axe besides james I would also addBauman, RashadMitchell, Anthony (which is older then KK and only a special teamer)
