BigBenBlows
Just read on Bengals.com that we will probably be signing Anthony Wright from the Ravens on Thursday. Are you freaking kidding me??? I guess it is better than signing Kyle Boller but serioulsy I dont see how this will be a good move if it does happen. Maybe Marvin sees something in him that I don't but that is why he gets paid the big bucks.

Stripes
He'll do. Honestly I'd take him over Martin. We better draft a long term replacement.
walshfan
He has mental lapses.. They dont call him "Radio" for nothing..Hopefully Palmer is back before Wright gets to play too much.

futurebengal08
I really like it...The guy has decent stats, and can move around in the pocket...now I'm fine with Carson sitting out til' the bye, just to make sure he's healthy enough to come back. Wright can win us a few games.

DC_Bengals_Fan
Best case scenario. He has experience in a regular NFL offense (unlike Martin), has a lot of experience (unlike Krenzel), doesn't completely suck (like Doug Johnson), and knows his role as a backup (unlike Harrington). Oh, and he'll be a whole lot more ready to start than a draft pick. And he's cheap. We could do worse. Is he perfect? Of course not, or he wouldn't be a backup! But I think he's better than at least a handful of NFL starters - including Boller. I like the move.
Stripes
Wright had success as a Raven when he had a solid defense behind him. I sure hope our boys can step it up like they did early last season if Wright has to play.

Ox
At first I thought this was a late April fools joke. Signing the ravens QB who I have been making fun of forever, geez. For f*cks sake I hope Marvin knows what he's doing.
Whur CHad At?
If we give him more than a million, I might walk my ass into oncoming traffic
GO85CHAD
i think it was a good signing. we have a solid offense that gives plenty of guys a chance to be good, and they should be. i have no idea who will be our starter day one, but u gotta figure iwth the talent around our qb they should perform better then they did with their former teams. now hopefully we can resign one more o linemen before the draft. it was a good signing
HoosierCat
And so the Great QB Hunt of 2006, A-No. 1 Absolute First Week Priority of the Cincinnati Bengals Braintrust comes to its end...not with a bang, but a whimper. Not with the signing of some unexpectedly free quality QB, not even with the signing of a QB they targeted...but with us sweeping up a castoff not good enough to back up -- ick -- Kyle Boller.Whoop-de-friggin-do. Yo, Marvin, Mikey, can we sign LaVar now? Or Steinbach? Or Levi? Or Justin? Big QB Search is over, no more reason to putter about...

marylandbengal
Greetings! This is my first post from my year-long place of exile, the pagan state of ratbird-loving maryland. God how I miss Cincinnati. If I knock on my neighbors door, I'm sure he'll be drooling with happiness at the news that we might be signing Wright. Ravens fans can't stand him; they have accurately noted how Wright has done practically nothing for this team. he's spry, but he makes extremely poor decisions (think Akili Smith with better legs and slightly better supporting cast). Sorry, I was hoping my first post would be more positive.

Something about your first post makes me want to see more.
WhoDey42
I'm ok with this singing. Its not like any of our other options were that great either. I don't think Jamie Martin would've been a good choice. I don't think that Wright is that horrible. He'll fill the bill for what we need right now. Stripes
Here's the ESPN article for those interested...http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2414522I like the part about the "very strong arm" but not the part about it "being erratic." I don't like interceptions.
Bengals44
It's an intelligent signing... You don't want to break the bank for someone who may not play at all, yet he has very good skills for what we need and what we do in a short-term scenario... He has a strong arm and is very mobile - we love to stretch the field by going deep and he can obviously run if nothing is there... We simply tone down the intermediate passing game to a limited number of similar-type routes so that he doesn't have to think too much, allow him to throw deep just a little more than we normally would and run when nothing is there... If the coaches can emphasize that he only takes what's available and does not try and force any action, he should be fine in the short-term... He will be only about $1M, allowing us to continue talks w/ both Levi and Eric... Marvin and his crew know what they are doing - this has been a very productive off-season up to this point. So people worry too much about signing "names". We have added a solid S, a run-stuffing DT, an adequate (in my opinion) back-up QB, while yet signing both Bobbie Williams and JJ to long-term deals... Keeping your own quality players is more important the signing FA's... If we get at least one of Levi or Eric signed before camp, I really can't see how any knowledgeable football person can complain... This signing makes perfect sense to me, but that's just my opinion...
Kazkal
I rather have wright then martin who was thought he was hot stuff and command more then a league min which is what he deserves...wright will also be given chance to see what he can do with weapons which he really diden't have where martin was on one of the most loaded offensesman i'm really glad we diden't sign martin give me maddox before his ass.guys 5-6 years older then wright and have sim stats where martin was also on one of best offenses in the league last year
HoosierCat
Sorry, folks, but I thought Wright sucked when he was a Raven and I'm not going to go into homer mode and declare him a great pickup now. He sucks. Waste of any money at all. Worthless piece of crap who is on team 4 in 7 years and is the latest in a long line of QB bums signed by this organization (c.f. Neil O'Donnel, Gus Frerotte, Scott "water buffalo" Mitchell, etc, etc., etc.). The only positive thing I can get out of this is that if the bengals are willing to settle for junk like this, then Carson's rehab must really be going well. BengalChamps
Wright never looked like much of a leader to me. He had some good moments but was not able to capitalize on them. Looks like Krenzel has a pretty good shot at starting the opener.
