Wraith
No way they are the best team in the NFL, hell they were not even the best team last season they just strung together 6 good games at the end when it counts the most.It helped that they knocked Palmer out of the game after the second play. I have friends who are steeler fans and they honestly believe the game would not have turned out any different if Palmer had not gotten injured...all I can say is 1/1 66 yards First and ten on the fifteen yardline. My wife and I both believe that Kimo Von Killkneeoffen intentionally hurt Carson. And we also believe that Cincy would have won had Kimo not wrench Carson's knee. That pass sent a message to the Steelers that they were going deep early and often. Knowing Kitna does not have the arm that Carson has, they found a way to get Carson out of the game. Thus the outcome would have been much different because the Steelers would have been on their heals all game long and they would not have known how to deal with it. Tasher
Fact of the matter is that someone has to win the AFC North! Everyone in the division plays the same 14 games vs AFC West and NFC South which are very strong divisions (based on last years win pct). People are going to get beat up next year (probably including us). 10-6 or 9-7 could wind up winning the division and more than likely only the division winner will make the playoffs. Having said that, I still like our chances to win the division because we are a younger team than the squealers and we are on the way up more so that they are. Besides, with Carson leading our offense we were so clearly better that they were and our defense will be vastly improved, mark my words! BengalszoneBilly
Remember this comment when you are considering everything next December ...Final Standings of AFC North 2006Cincinnati 11-5 (4-2 in division)Baltimore 9-7 (4-2 in division)Pittsburgh 9-7 (3-3 in division) Cleveland 8-8 (1-5 in division)IMHO, there is no possible way on EARTH that the Boller led Ravens finish tied for 2nd at 9-7. I'm having trouble even grasping 7-9 for Baltimore, as 6-10 (2-4 in the division) seems the best possible scenario for that over rated dog and pony show! ArmyBengal
If Kerry Collins were to end up in Baltimore AND get substantial snaps, then 9-7 would be possible in my mind... Boller on the other hand, still suck BALLS !!! 6-10 Boller led Ravens !!!WHODEY !!!

Without Palmer playing most of it! Thats enough to win a game. If you have a D. Our D was not a playoff D. If the D will turn it around we will be fine without CP at the beginning of the year. These idiot 'experts' dont remember how well our O played in that game without CP.

Last year the Steelers had one of the easier schedules in the entire NFL, and barely made the playoffs. Now they have one of the toughest schedules in the NFL (an argument can be made that it is THE toughest) and you expect them to go 11-5 again, without Bettis for leadership, without Randle El for trick plays, and a defense that lost Kimo, Hope, and have no cap room to re-sign Ike Taylor? The Bengals on the other hand... despite the fact that they might be without Palmer... have addressed their two biggest problems on defense in FA, and having Pollack playing at a high level from day 1, and Madieu back should make us at least as good as last year, if not better. I think 10-6 will be very difficult to pull off, but whichever team does it, probably wins the division.
BigBenBlows
The Squeelers have an overrated QB, a depleted WR corp, a depleted RB stable and an aging Defense. No way they are the best team in the NFL, hell they were not even the best team last season they just strung together 6 good games at the end when it counts the most.Although I hate s**tsburgh with a passion, good teams find ways to win. If Kitna hadn't been our QB on Black Sunday we would have won. 6 wins when it counted tells me they were pretty good. Just my two cents. Don't forget though that they lost to an inferior Jaguars and Ravens team because of Maddox. If Ben starts games they probably finish 13-3. We saw it happen to us in the playoff game. I think they are still plenty good enough to win 11 games against their schedule.

These idiot 'experts' dont remember how well our O played in that game without CP. Hate to say it but the Bengals scored only 17 points in the game. You don't win many games scoring only 17 points unless you have a good defense able to stop the run. We all know the defense was suspect last season and the offense was what carried the team. Since the trigger man for the deep threat went down, the offense was unable to sustain the necessary production needed to cover up the glaring problems with the Bengals defense. Plus, the Steelers moved up the Safeties since they knew that Jon Kitna had a weaker arm which allowed them to add more pressure onto Kitna. If Carson was able to continue to play, the Steeler safeties would have had to play deeper then they wanted to and the offense would have been at full throttle and able to outrun the Steelers. Whur CHad At?
I think the Steelers will still be very much in the thick of things in 2006. They are the favorites to win the AFC North because of what they did in the postseason and (much more importantly) the uncertain status of Carson Palmer. As we've been saying all along, everything hinges on him. If he comes back at 100% for week one, then I think we'll run away with the division. If not, enjoy your playoff berth, Pittsburgh. I do think we're deserving of a power ranking spot higher than 15th though.DeletedYou do bring up a good point. But get the hell out of here if you are going to post crap, unless you post in the smack forum you terd burgular

You got lucky in the playoffs, it won't happy again. You guys will choke with a cake scheduleOK...so we won't make the playoffs? We have the BEST defense in the NFL. We have the winningest QB(27-4) in the NFL over the last 2 years who, btw, set a record by being the youngest QB to ever win a Superbowl. He also has the highest winning % in HISTORY for his 1st 2 years. We have a talented secondary..ask Chad how good Ike Taylor and Deshea Townsend are on the corners.. Ask Carson how good Troy P is. Ask Peyton Manning about Joey Porter. Ask Rudi Johnson about Casey Hampton. Your offense is good..but it comes down to this... Our defense will stop YOUR offense more times than you will stop us..and that is the bottom line. That is why, when all the money is on the line.. When it is win or go home...you will NEVER beat us.
