Does Pep's trade to Miami mean that we're gonna get Adams? It was supposedly between us and Miami, and I would have to think that Pep brings with him a hefty contract. I can't imagine that they will have too much money left to spend... and I don't think DT is their biggest worry at this point.

Another Sam Adams thread?

Hey, y'know, I have an idea, why don't we here at bengalszone bid on Sam? Obviously he doesn't have jack going on. Take up a collection and pay Adams to be the 'zone's house "big fatty." I'm thinking an initial offer of 52 steak dinners (1 a week), a daily McDonald's per diem, and a lifetime supply of XXXL "Bengalszone.com Rocks" t-shirts.

The best part about the Adams threads is that they don't even have to start out as Adams threads. All other threads will somehow eventually spiral down into Adams threads. (and then will be quickly killed due to a TNBT vs. HoF computer nerd insult-off).

I would prove my point by posting a thread discussing whether Carson Palmer wears boxers or briefs... but this is risky phase at Bengalszone to attempt such a thing, because discussing underwear will inevitably end up revolving around a 33 year old 330 lb fat-ass... and those are images I can do without.

Big Sam's agent indicated that it is just a matter of time before he signs here. He hasn't even scheduled any visits elsewhere. I think that is a great sign.

Big Sam's AGENT said this and while he may actually be signing here, until I hear something from anyone other than his agent (see the Bengals organization) I'm not concerned...

I'm still hoping that for a change, the Bengals are dangling Adams fat butt out there as a signing to get Pickett to decide to sign for a little less and come on board, as opposed to free agents dangling a Cincinnati offer out to get a higher pay from someone else!

Pickett would certainly be the better long term option... but with all these other lesser DT's out there getting 5 mill a year or more, I don't think any tactics by the Bengals will get him to agree to less. I guess I'd be okay with signing him to a fat contract like that... but it would be very different from what we've done in the past... so I just don't expect it.

They probably believe that Adams can rotate in and out with S. Smith, keeping them both rested, and for cheaper. That seems to be more the style of the Bengals... besides, most analysts are not praising these big fat contracts, and the Bengals front office probably feels the same way.

Unless the price comes down on these guys (and there is no indication that it will) they will probably not be in stripes. Like it or don't, we'll keep building through the draft, rather than put a ton of cash into one FA signing.
