TJJackson Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 With the Saints (Brees) and the Dolphins (Culpepper) now set at starting QB, does this mean the Bengals now have a slightly better shot at securing McCown? As far as I know, the only two teams hotly pursuing QBs, including McCown, were the two I just mentioned. Does anyone know of any other team that is talking with McCown? Quote
Whur CHad At? Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 Didn't think it could happen..but Maybe the Bengals are holding out now with Martin when they saw McCown was available.Love to see this happen Quote
Spain Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 Options are always good. I like Mcown but they might go with the experience. Mcown would do really well here on a one year deal. Martin is more of a long term. However guys like Martin are always there. Tough call. Quote
Pandre Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 I would have to agree I would really like to see McCown as our back up.What kind of money does he demand. Quote
GROIIIDayton Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 With this offense you might be able to get McCown to sign a one year deal at a low amount if you could guarentee him to start for the first three to four games. He would tear it up and then sit there the rest of the season and go into free agency on a high note. Quote

bengalindian Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 I'd be happy with either Martin or McCown, just as long as Carson gets healthy. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 So when does Carson come back ???WHODEY !!! Quote
TJJackson Posted March 14, 2006 Author Report Posted March 14, 2006 I'm betting we don't see Carson until week 8 at best, ergo my feeling is we need to pick up a quality veteran who will get at least 8 startsI too would prefer Carson back and ready to go so we never start a #2 QB, but my philosophy is to plan for the worst. Which means we need a QB with the experience to come in and give us quality starts right away Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 I'd far rather see McCown than Krenzel! McCown was part of the #1 passing offense in the league in 2005!......(photos from Cardinals training camp in Prescott last year.) Quote
BengalChamps Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 This topic is boosting my spirits! I want McCown for our backup. Even if it is for one year. He would love to be in our offense, boost his stats, and then move on if he wants. Quote
Stripes Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 McCown would be friggin great. I might get shat on for this comment, but I think with time to learn the system, he could have similar success with our talent to Palmer himself. Maybe 80%-85% of it, statistically. Quote
Whur CHad At? Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 Yes we should Pursue Josh "Ivan Drago" McCown! Quote
HoTbOy Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 Cabe would be good, i would see no need for QB derby...Cut Kenzel i don't know if they save anything...give McCown all the reps he need.. Quote
BigBenBlows Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 I think we should sign Sam Adams for our #2 QB! He may not be fast or mobile but I bet he would be hard to sack!! Quote
Whur CHad At? The team remains in contact with free agent QB Josh McCown (Cardinals). Quote

His chances of making his mark on this league would be much greater if he were a Bengal. Quote
HairOnFire Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 I'd say it would be an even money bet that McCown would beat out Kitna for the Lions starting job. Quote
Stripes Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 I'd say it would be an even money bet that McCown would beat out Kitna for the Lions starting job. You're probably right, but there's no guarantee there. I'm not certain that McCown is as well versed in the tendencies of Jon Kitna as are his (former) fans. I doubt he ends up in Detroit or Cincinnati... But I guess with New Orleans and Miami off the board he is running out of options. Quote
Spain Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 I would die for this to happen, this guy would have so much to prove. Ihope he decides to test drive this O for a season. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 From a money standpoint, I'm still penciling in Martin or Redman.God I almost puked saying that... ]WHODEY !!! Quote
derekshank Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 I'm hoping to see that Martin signed with the Bengals in the next few hours. Then we can get on with it. It looks like he's the guy we are targeting... and with the good news we've heard about Palmer in the last few days, it's looking like we won't need him to play for more than a few weeks... something Martin is more than capable to do.Let's get on with it... and then, um... sign Adams? I guess... whatever. Quote
bengalindian Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 I don't see any logic in McCown going to Detroit. Three lazy, underachieving WRs, a mediocre defense, and no RB. The Bengals had one of the best offenses in the league and went to the playoffs. Make a smart decision, Josh.P.S. Why the hell are the Bengals not going after Pickett? He's only like 26 or 28! Quote
TJJackson Posted March 15, 2006 Author Report Posted March 15, 2006 I too would like to hear why the Bengals are not at least bringing in DLs to talk with them, to open a dialogue. Quote
