Sportsdoc
Great. We have a Kim Herring clone. Yeah, that will take us to the Superbowl. Maybe we can get the chronically unmotivated Sam Adams. Hey, if these guys were winners, why don't the clubs that have 'em, keep 'em. Remember, the powerhouse Arizona Cardinals released Dexter. The Bucs did not want to keep him as he is no better than Will Allen............................
Spain
Dude have you been beaten or something, you have one fudged up psyche. This guy played for some of the bestDs Ive seen. He isnt Herring! The paradigm has changed. This guy is much younger. Guys want to sing with us. Wow sorry for theupdate !
kingwilly
To me, this move is possibly the best FA pick-up the Bengals have ever made. They made a move for a proven guy that addresses a glaring weakness. They spent good money, but did not overpay. They got a guy who is at the same career crossroads that Tory (never had the full-time starter title) and Deltha (maligned in Denver, labeled "attitude problem) were facing but for Dex, he had some injury questions...and now has a chance to prove he is the top quality player he had been.I think ML likes to choose guys he can challenge and are in a spot where they need to respond. The guys he usually targets are hungry, like Tory and Deltha. I rate this as a important a move as the one they will need to make for a QB. KimoTherapy
Congrats on your newest pickup!Pretty respectable player at a decent price. I say you did well on this one. The guy is versatile. The only knock I see with him is staying healthy.peace

His replacement?O1.
BengalsDieHard1
Is it just me, or do both Jackson and ML look like in the pic on the Bengals site......."yeah, what the hell, we gotta deal, give me a drink"......................... Kazkal
i like this signing. Dexter is good in run support and in Zone coverage.his man to man coverage isn't that good though. i really wanted Milloy but Dexter is better in coverage and will be able to give us more years.and i'm pretty sure the Cardinals Cut Dexter because he was injuriedMadieu can line up for man to man and dexter can play zone when they call play that needs one of them to play man2man
BengalszoneBilly
Well, this will make some people happy. Doesn't do much for me. Ohalete II, IMHO...hopefully I'm wrong.Me either. He couldn't make the cut in Arizona for crissakes! Zero impact.
kingwilly
Toss back as necessary. I stand by my belief in the assertion. Just be ready to proclaim my judgement as correct should he excel. If the dude was hurt...oh well. Let's not forget how so many of us felt about the "old, hurt" TJ...and he turned out pretty well. cincy9275
his is a improvement over what we have had to play safety. people here kill me if this was later in the year and he was the only safety left in f/a that was worth signing . everyone that is saying this is a bad signing would be the same people that would call the bengals cheap asses and losers because they did not bring him in . you know that the bengals could get ed reed and most of the same people that are crying about this signing would have something to dog ed about . just can't make everyone happy . marvin said this guy can play so i will wait untill i see different . and army bengal you said marvin said he was going to build a d here and he hasn't . well let me throw a few names that marvin has put on this d. odell, pollack ,landon , madieu , deltha , marvin knows what his is doing way more than any one on this forum . and if you doubt him just remember what it was like before he came here . WHO f**king DEY
HoosierCat
OKay he got cut from Arizona because he had a back injury not because his playYeah. I don't believe the injury was football-related; disc issue in the back. He sat out all camp and preseason and since the Cards had just given his a boatload of $$$ (outbidding the Steelers in the process) the year before the put him on IR when they made final cuts. They released him in October (without an injury settlement) and he resigned with the Bucs. He played sparingly, with just one start, I believe. He got the starting gig back last year, but ended up limited by a hammy injury.(DieHard: yeah, I kinda thought the same thing.)(willie: hope you're right and I'm wrong!) Tasher
Its all about depth! Remember last year? Herring gets hurt in preseason and we go after waiver wire guys? Then Madieu goes down 4 games in? We were screwed! Now Madieu is healthy, Herring is quite possibly healthy or at least better off the bench than O-I-can't-hit-a-lady, and the ROOK and Jackson go at it for the starter and #2 guy slot!I'm friggin lovin it! Are you kidding me? Major upgrade and overhaul! ROOK is starting by midseason with Jackson and Herring as the backups.Just think what that does for our corners!Who Dey! BengalChamps
If ML thinks he can play, then I'm buying it. Ohalete was picked up in desperation. This pick up does not have that kind of pressure. My only concern is... does he have anything left in the tank?
BTG
The Bengals will draft Daniel Bullocks in the third round.I wish that would happen. Bullocks is a really good safety. He's fourth on my list (behind Huff, Whitner, & Simpson).
DC_Bengals_Fan
In 2003 Jackson's Last full healthy season he had 75 tackles 6 ints and 1 forced fumble. He just needs to stay healthy.I think the first part of that sentence says enough.

It happens.
HairOnFire
But as long as we're talking dollars, Hobson's story on Jackson says the Bengals could have had McCree if they'd bumped from $3 million to $3.2 million. Why bump your offer by 200k when you can save a couple hundred thousand more on a player you've ranked nearly equal? Seriously, a couple hundred thousand here and a couple more there and pretty soon you're talking about real money. From the dot.com... "It’s believed the Bengals had Jackson rated right with the market’s top safeties: Corey Chavous, Adam Archuleta and Marlon McCree." I liked McCree plenty, but Jackson has actually done it at a higher level for longer. If you think he can regain his health it's not a questionable move. Certainly not one that rates five angry smilies. C'mon, it's almost like you guys want to see the Bengals waste money to prove they're serious about winning.
