BengalChamps
When Mikey says stuff like the CBA is bad for the Bengals, it puts out negative news about the Bengals. FA's and their agents think twice about coming here. Why would a FA come here if the chance of winning the Super Bowl is not good. And if the owner thinks the CBA puts the Bengals at a competitive disadvantage, why would he willingly put himself in a bad situation.I'm sure I'm making to much out of this, and that Marvin will still be able to attract FA. It just irritates me. There is enough negative press about the Bengals. It doesnt help that the OWNER OF THE TEAM CREATES MORE OF IT. He registered his complaint with his "nay" vote. Let it drop and move on or sell the team.Go Bengals!
The_Next_Big_Thing
You are reading way too much into this. Get over it. I'm beginning to think some of you who hate Mike Brown are just gay and angry because you were turned down when you asked him if you could kiss his ass. I was interested in Mikey's reasons for voting no, and he stated his case well...but at the same time nothing was going to erase all those "30-2 and one of them was Mike Brown" stories. In the end, I think he needed to do what he did, and I suspect he will now resume his "place in the shadows." Meanwhile, on to FA!

In the end, I think he needed to do what he did, and I suspect he will now resume his "place in the shadows." Meanwhile, on to FA! Were there stories about "30-2 and one of them was Mike Brown"? Really? Most of what I saw were articles that mentioned the vote, identified the disenters, and then perhaps poked a little fun at Ralph Wilson's expense. As for Mike, I didn't stumble across any negative articles concerning the Bengals, but I wasn't really looking for them. And like you said, when it came to to speak he stated his case well. He even went so far as to state that the Bengals are well positioned for years to come, and would continue to spend up to the cap limit every year. Last, I agree that he'll happily retreat to the shadows once again now that the vote has been taken and his reasons given. But there was no way he was going to stand that far apart from the crowd without being asked why.
ArmyBengal
To tell you the truth, after seeing what the players got out of that deal, I give it two seasons (if that) and the other small market owners will see Mikey had it right. The large market team owners are going to make out like fat rats. Whats that saying ?? Oh yeah... The rich get richer !!!Dare I say I have respect for Mike Brown standing on his principles and going against the grain ?? Well I do !!! Good job Mike !!!WHODEY !!! Whur CHad At?
I have respect for anyone who stands up for what they believe in. Initally, after hearing Mikey vetoed it I got mad, but when I read more about it I came to terms that maybe he could be right. I just hope we can put a team together and win a Super Bowl while those large market teams continue to miss the playoffs.

The large market team owners are going to make out like fat rats. That's certainly true...but then again, they are the ones raking in the revenue, too. If you're making more money, shouldn't you benefit more? And let's not forget that every small market team is still benefitting from the decision lo those many moons ago (props to Well Mara) to equally share the TV bucks. Ask the Reds if they'd like to tap into the Yankees' TV revenue. Starting next year the various TV deals will pour something like $4 billion a year into the NFL's coffers. That's on the order of $125 million a team. The small market teams may not be profiting as much as the larger-market teams, but no one's in danger of having to move into a cardboard box beneath the highway underpass. Dan2330
For once someone looked worse than Mike Brown and that would be Ralph Wilson- he sounded like a complete idiot in the interview he did just after they had the final CBA vote. Anyone else catch him saying he really did not understand the deal or what he was voting for? The old man needs someone young to help him out, ohh wait, he did that by hiring in a much younger Marv Levy!

BengalszoneBilly
Mike Brown's a buffoon. Sorry haven't changed my mind.I have slightly, although I still fear he's more a businessman than a footballman. We all saw where businessman Carl took the Cincinnati Reds. NOWHERE! derekshank
Mike Brown is not a bafoon, and he's not a businessman. He's a guy whose father taught him how to run a football team. He so wants the NFL to be back in the good ol' days, back when Paul Brown could build a winner based on heart... and these money problems never came up.Unfortunately the NFL has changed... and Mikey hasn't changed with it. I don't think he's stupid, and I don't think he's a businessman.... I just think he wishes things were different.Well Mikey... things are the way things are... and Paul would have wanted you to do what it takes to win... not sit there wishing for the good ol' days to return to you. I understand you're situation... because I doubt that Paul would have wanted the NFL to be this way... and since he was you're dad, you feel the need to honor his principles... But he wouldn't want you to be stubborn, and run the team he created into the ground either. Play the stupid little games all the owners play... at least a little bit. Otherwise, no one will care that you named the stadium after you're pop. If you really want to honor you father.... build a dynasty. Marvin was the first step in the right direction. Now you have to play the money game a little.

TJJackson
Mike Brown's a buffoon. Sorry haven't changed my mind.ExactlyHe has made exactly two good moves in the last 2 years1) hired Marvin2) given him enough control to do his job well. The only good move remaining for him is to minimalize his presence with respect to the team, and I would add that it'd be so much the better if he'd turn over ownership to Pumpkin, who probably can't do an worse, so that he won't even participate in owner meetings
