Sadly, he never found the real killer... https://abcnews.go.com/US/oj-simpson-former-football-star-acquitted-murder-dies/story?id=16354000

So week 1 in Brazil will be Packers/Eagles. https://www.nfl.com/news/packers-to-face-eagles-in-week-1-s-sao-paulo-game

Everyone makes mistakes and thankfully this one doesn't appear to have hurt anyone but him. If I had a nickle for every time I was the dumb drunk or high kid behind the wheel, well, I'd have a lot of coins, let's just say that. So I will cast no stones. That said, his timing does suck, His value was already falling (in that "take every trade" mock I did he was the first pick I made...at 111) and this will certainly not help.

Some interesting stuff from the WaPo today on the looming stadium building boom (gift link): https://wapo.st/4aIOLnw

Oh, right, baseball started…checks standings…oh we suck again…early tho.

Yeah, I like Guyton as well. Definitely into a trade down scenario like this.

Okay, now for the most ridiculous mock ever. For this one, the rule was that any time a trade was proposed I had to take it (or pick one in the case of multiple offers). So I only picked when forced to, which meant I didn't select a player until the fourth round (and still got Sweat, lol). So here's Mike Brown's dream draft, 100% cheap rookies: 111. T'Vondre Sweat DT Texas 112. Jaden Hicks S Washington State 123. Cade Stover TE Ohio State 124. Maason Smith DT LSU 129. Jaylen Wright RB Tennessee 131. Cam Hart CB Notre Dame 132. Beaux Limmer OC Arkansas 135. Layden Robinson OG Texas A&M 150. Javon Baker WR UCF 157. Jonah Elliss EDGE Utah 167. Garret Greenfield OT South Dakota State 170. Tommy Eichenberg LB Ohio State 175. Gabe Hall DT Baylor 176. Isaac Guerendo RB Louisville 179. Caedan Wallace OT Penn State 182. Austin Reed QB Western Kentucky 199. Tory Taylor P Iowa 214. AJ Barner TE Michigan 215. Ainias Smith WR Texas A&M 224. DeCamerion Richardson CB Mississippi State 2025 SEA 1st 2025 DEN 2nd 2025 NYJ 2nd 2025 SEA 2nd 2025 BUF 3rd 2025 DEN 3rd 2025 HOU 3rd 2025 MIN 3rd 2025 NYJ 3rd 2025 HOU 4th 2025 MIN 4th

Yup great deal for Houston. Buffalo, well, I guess. Just more that goes to show why the Bengals are hanging on to Tee.

Sorry to hear that. Here in the great (/sarcasm) state of Indiana, property taxes rates are capped by a constitutional amendment passed a decade or two back. Homeowners can’t be charged more than 1%. Awesome, right? Well, funny that, it turns out that somehow your assessment just keeps going in one direction every year, no matter what. Bought my place nearly 20 years ago for $160k. Haven’t done a thing except for absolutely necessary stuff, and not even all of that, but somehow the bill I just got the other day tells me the place is worth double what I paid for it now! I’d happily cash out now if I could afford a new place anywhere north of (checks notes) Mexico.

Slow day again. Ended up at the PFN simulator. Silly as usual, but I'm sure TJ will approve: 18. JC Latham OT Alabama 49. Cooper Beebe OG Kansas State 80. Sedrick Van Pran-Granger OC Georgia 97. DeWayne Carter DT Duke 115. Maason Smith DT LSU 149. Jordan Jefferson DT LSU 194. Erick All TE Iowa 214. Edefuan Ulofoshio LB Washington 224. DeCamerion Richardson CB Mississippi State 237. Tory Taylor P Iowa

I would take this draft in a heartbeat. Sadly I doubt half those guys are there when reality comes around. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/bengals-seven-round-2024-nfl-mock-draft-sees-jerry-rices-son-land-in-cincinnati-along-with-big-defensive-help/

Interesting news out of KC today. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/39863822/missouri-voters-reject-stadium-tax-kansas-city-royals-chiefs Probably not a good omen for any hopes of the Bengals squeezing more public funds out of Hamilton County taxpayers.

Volson gets fourth-highest performance-based pay check in the league this year… https://bengalswire.usatoday.com/2024/04/01/bengals-cordell-volson-performance-based-pay-raise/

Yes, they were the last using the slit stuff, which has been linked to injuries. The new stuff is FieldTurf. I’m so old I remember grass at PBS. There’s a reason they moved to turf.
-
Yeah the Steelers signed Patterson because of that.
-
Yeah, they stopped giving a shit about the players. Oh wait, my bad, they never gave a shit about the players. Oh well, no one says you *have* to play the game, right?

So Cleveland might be opening the season in Brazil. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/the-nfl-is-deciding-between-these-two-opponents-for-eagles-2024-brazil-game-says-team-executive/

Dumbass new kicking system approved. https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-owners-pass-new-kickoff-rule-at-annual-league-meeting
-
It's originating from exactly there, specifically from Jeremy Fowler, who claimed yesterday on Sportscenter to have talked to teams that are interested in Higgins who "believe" (not admitting having talked to Cincy or anything like that, but, y'know, apparently have a feeling or something) that the Bengals are "at least willing to listen" in comparison to last year. So by all appearances it remains just vibes, and mostly/totally vibes produced by the media. Tee's agent may have a hand in it but if so I think it's a light touch. More than anything else this reminds me of the whole "Burrow should hold out" media campaign back in 2020. I said at the time that was fueled 100% by the media which did not want a hot ticket like Burrow stuck in one of the league's smallest media markets. Same for Tee. Him in a bigger market means more eyeballs and $$$ for them.

Well, the hip drop ban passed. I love the weird framing it's getting, like this example from espn: So it's a 15-yard penalty -- which can be drive, if not game, changing -- but it will only be called sometimes, which is a...good thing? Just what the game needs, more unevenly enforced penalties! No vote today on the kickoff thing.

TBF Dehner did say he was looking more at position vs player, so this reflects how he thinks they will prioritize things.
