Two bad teams performing a clown show.
-
Clowns lose. Commanders suck.
-
Bengals are bad but browns are gawd awful. Fukkin Commanders get your act together.
-
However, it would explain Lou touting the “3 Gs of success” this week: Geritol, Grape-Nuts and Gumption.
-
Nabers out, per Shefty.

Hilton and Rankins back at practice today. Could use them both Sunday. https://www.cincyjungle.com/2024/10/9/24266249/sheldon-rankins-injury-mike-hilton-bengals-practice-ny-giants

That never happened. There was no top 10 offense in Cincy in August. Believe what you want, I’m going to stick with what I see with my eyes.
-
Nothing odd at all. The offense just sucked and the defenses’s supposed awesomeness was just a mirage because of that. Yes, it’s stupid for me to believe what I see with my own eyes. It’s not that the DL can’t get off blocks, it’s the scheme! It’s not that Bell is slower than Rich Eisen, it’s the scheme! It’s not that the secondary misses tackles and takes bad angles, it’s the scheme! It’s not that the only first rounder on D got stoned for a whole game by a rookie tackle making his fifth start, it’s the scheme!

Ivey cleared to practice.
-
No it’s because THE OFFENSE SUCKED IN AUGUST. Did you miss the opener against the Pats? The one where they could only manage 10 points and looked like they didn’t know how to play the game? That’s the offense they were “dominating” in camp, the one that need a couple weeks of the real thing to figure out how to play football again. What the D did in August practices means nothing, because the offense was still a joke at that point.

Geno Stone has a 38 pff grade right now. It turns out he sucks. He’s never around the plays and when he is he can’t tackle. Bell is washed. He looks like he’s running in molasses. There’s a reason Carolina cut him.

So I stumbled on this video I think perfectly encapsulates watching the Bengals this year.
-
We don’t have any bona fide nfl safeties.
-
Can he play safety?

Head coach carousel starting to spin up early this season. Saleh out in NY. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/41679781/jets-fire-coach-robert-saleh-2-3-start-sources-say

Credit to Lou, he tried everything Sunday and nothing worked because he just doesn’t have the playmakers. Until someone(s) step up it’s not going to get better. That said, every team doesn’t have Lamar and if the Bengals can pressure Jones next Sunday night like they did Jackson I think good things will happen on D. Zac was also talking today about Rankins practicing this week and his return would help, too. I’m not expecting it until Cleveland at the soonest, but one can hope. Not really seeing any trades happening unless the Bengals are willing to part with high future draft picks. I’m not doing that at 1-4 and no one is trading for Tee for half a season. If I’m Lou, my message to all the young guys/backups/teamers is, prove to me you’re a starter. I’ll put you out there, you make a play, you can earn the job. Exhibit A, Tycen Anderson. Haven’t seen him outside teams since preseason two years ago when he robbed Green Bay twice. Get him on the field! DJ Turner, guess what, you’re up now. Etc, etc.
-
So Dax is gone for the year and they signed a…guard? Yep. Off the Atlanta PS, some ex-Michigan guy, Andrew Steuber. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Stueber Whatever. ETA I see he played RT in college so that makes a bit more sense.
-
Dax torn acl. Done for the year.

We’ll be waiting all day for Sunday night again. I’m growing to hate late games but at least I have Monday off. Reportedly NBC wanted to flex this game out for Ravens/Commanders (no surprise there) but CBS protected the game, so here we are, two teams with a combined record of 3-7 in prime time. I’m actually expecting the Bengals to handle business against the Giants and get that second win.
-
I hear ya Army. And I do like your captains idea. yup. But this is what you get with our FO. They’re sitting on $10 million in cap space but couldn’t afford Reader. They got $20+ million for one year for Tee but couldn’t pay Bates. Other teams find ways around this, they extend guys and lower cap numbers and convert salaries to bonuses etc., etc. The Bengals cry poverty, let talent walk and wonder why rookies and street FAs don’t play as well. None of this is to absolve poor play or coaching on the field. But if you want to know why we never seem to be able to have a good O and D at the same time, or why coaching isn’t held accountable for performance, that’s on The Family.
-
There’s no question the defense is atrocious, but Burrow publicly ripping them isn’t going to do any good. Frankly, at this point the D is beyond help. The time to fix it was last winter and spring. We’re five weeks into the season, they have the players they have, and there are no miracles coming. All there is to do is ride out the season and use it to evaluate what, if anything, is worth keeping. Sadly, on defense I think the answer is going to be, “not much.” But that’s getting ahead of ourselves.
-
One note on the last three plays: Zac did call one pass. Joe audibled out of it. Good postgame from Jake and Joe:
-
Yup, d is a mess. Bell is toast, Dax is smelling of bust and is hurt now, CTB has regressed and you had a PS corner, Jalen Davis, taking snaps on d today. I thought the line played better but the back half is just so much lawn cuttings for a QB like Jackson to mulch up.
-
I’m not even upset. I didn’t expect a win today, so they lived up to my expectations. I’m only surprised it was close.
