  1. Well, that’s terrible. I remember wanting Mallet back in 2011. Of course they took Andy in the second and Mallet went to NE in the third. RIP. Condolences to his family and friends. Way too soon, obviously.
  2. Like I said a while back boring offseasons are the best offseasons. I’ve had enough drama with this team for several lifetimes. Plus I’m sure the hamsters powering the server appreciate the break.
  3. Well for one night at least they’re in first!
  4. I suppose anything is possible, but yes it would be beyond unprecedented. Katie would need to be a native of Cargg to pull it off.
  5. Dont look now but they’re half a game out of first place…
  6. So I see Mixon pay cut stories are circulating again, apparently based on some speculation by Dehner that they are going to cut him if he doesn’t take a haircut. Considering that it’s June 19 and camp starts in just over a month, I am skeptical to say the least. If they were going to press this issue I think they would have done it months ago, not in the run up to preseason. Whether they should have is ground that’s been throughly plowed. At this point I don’t see any reason to think Joe won’t be in stripes, at his current (ludicrous) salary come September.
  7. Yeah Tom does a lot of good stuff. Fantastic job by Bengals PR, too. Was a time when they never would have answered the phone for something like this. The football was the perfect touch.
  8. Chido being good to go opening day would be tremendous, even if he isn’t at 100%, so good to see him moving well.
  9. So the investor funding finally ran dry? Surprised it took that long. In any event, that sucks, hope Jay lands on his feet. ETA ah, I see, the founders cashed out last years and left the NYT on the hook. Lol. Couldn’t have happened to a a better (worse) paper! https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2023/06/12/athletic-layoffs-new-york-times/
  10. I have it on good authority that Parker guy is a total jerk. Doesn’t pick up after his dog, doesn’t signal left turns at lights until the light turns green and always puts his dirty dishes in the sink and never the dishwasher. :P
  11. Imma say…Steelers. https://www.nfl.com/news/vikings-officially-release-four-time-pro-bowl-rb-dalvin-cook
  12. This whole discussion is Horst erasure.
  13. It’s the Burrow Effect again. As long as Burrow is playing well and the Bengals are contending for a title (and there’s no reason to think they won’t be again this fall), then Cincy players will be desirable in FA. We saw it this year with Bell and Hurst. As long as he’s healthy someone will offer Boyd a good deal next March. Probably not us, but he’ll get paid.
  14. Sounds like a good life. I’m happy for him.
  15. RIP Jim Brown. https://www.bengals.com/news/mike-brown-remembers-jim-brown-the-best-runner-i-ever-saw
  16. All love to Marvin. I will be forever grateful for how he pulled the franchise out of the Lost Decade. That he never won a championship is a crying shame. But he had flaws as a head coach, the organization was still mired in the past, and plain old dumb luck — all of it bad — all factored into that. Still, if I’m ever in a restaurant someplace and I see him at another table, he’s not paying for dinner that night.
  17. Burrow came to Cincy to chew bubblegum and kick ass. And he’s all out of bubblegum.
  18. Preseason sked out. Just the one home game vs GB August 11. https://www.bengals.com/news/bengals-2023-preseason-schedule-dates-times
  19. It really, really, really helps that the organization has become much more willing to sign quality outside FAs to address needs. Case in point is the oline, where they’ve doled out nine figures worth of deals in the last 14 or so months. That gives them so much more opportunity to prioritize athleticism and talent in the draft, as opposed to having to draft a bunch of positions to fill holes. Ultimately, this is what “building through the draft” looks like, not the old strategy of tossing a bunch of rookies in to start year after year.
  20. One wild card playoff game will be exclusive to streaming (Peacock) this season. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/37657287/peacock-exclusively-carry-nfl-playoff-game
  21. Apparently the idea of the Bengals hosting the annual Black Friday game is still on the table, though apparently now the Jets want it, too. Since sponsor/broadcast partner Amazon like big markets, I’d say they have the inside track if the league chooses to go with that strategy. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/37660954/jets-several-teams-interested-hosting-black-friday-game-annually
  22. He’s looking good. Amazing what an offseason without rehab or emergency surgeries can do.
  23. Hobs has capsules on all of them here: https://www.bengals.com/news/2023-bengals-cfa-breakdown
  24. All the noobs are signed. https://www.bengals.com/news/2023-bengals-draft-class-signings
