  1. New car, caviar, four star daydream think I’ll buy me a football team… Bengals are the 13th most profitable NFL franchise and the most profitable in the division. https://www.sportico.com/leagues/football/2023/nfl-epl-profits-comparison-1234737931/ oh, and… Hey, where’s my universal basic income, too?
  2. Yeah I’m still logged in on mobile but can’t log in on desktop either. It gives me a “this form is not secure” warning when I try to log in so it may be a site certificate issue. I sent a message to the big guy via the contact form, hopefully he has a minute to look into it for the, like, six of us who still come by…
  3. I’m always a fan of “if you aren’t going to re-sign them, get value for them” school. Schultz would be an interesting get, for sure. Higgins being hurt right now would be an impediment, I think, though probably not a deal breaker. Do the Texans have any young TEs who could step in?
  4. Chase gets the AFC offensive player of the week nod. https://www.cincinnati.com/story/sports/nfl/bengals/2023/10/11/bengals-wr-jamarr-chase-wins-afc-offensive-player-of-the-week/71140722007/
  5. So after watching last Sundays game, you want to take the ball out of Burrow’s hands and give it to Charlie Jones? I get it, they might be more effective of an offense overall if they got the run game and additional sets of legs more involved. But I also think you can look at the above sentence and see exactly why that’s a tough sell. If I had more confidence in our head coach and OC as playcallers I might go for it. As is, I’m reluctant.
  6. Yeah, they’re 31st in rushing yards, which sucks. But they were 29th in rushing yards last season and went 12-4 so… In Zac’s case I think it’s just a play calling/philosophy thing. He’s an ex-QB who has completely bought into the whole “it’s a passing league” mantra. And it’s the passing that’s failed this year because of the calf.
  7. Yeah that’s why I don’t see Hurst happening. Oh, and meanwhile Sam LaPorta is having himself a nice little rookie season so far in Detroit. Maybe Murphy can get another sack this week against Seattle so I feel better about them passing on him…
  8. Nice column from Canfora today on Joe’s performance against the Cards. https://wapo.st/3toyELo Interesting proposal at the end: Just looking at their contracts I don’t see either Hurst or Henry as a real possibility, but Smith has been a complete flop so far. Maybe Ertz or Waller if the Cards/Giants continue fading?
  9. FWIW the Bengals are currently tied for 12th in the league in fewest sacks allowed per game. So not stellar, but they are above average, and that’s something given that Joe has had the mobility of a rock the first few weeks. https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/qb-sacked-per-game
  10. I think some of that is on Lou. They need to play more aggressively whether they have the lead or not. And yeah, tackling needs to be an emphasis this week.
  11. Bengals open as 4.5-point favorites. Looks like they got out of Arizona without any serious injuries. 3-3 and an extra week of rest for the calf would be ideal. We’ll see if they can get it done.
  12. Like I’ve been saying it’s 100% the calf. Joe was finally comfortable moving around today and you can see the difference. He’s clearly still not full go, hence the dink and dunk game plan early on, but he’s getting there. Hopefully he didn’t stress it too much today. Fortunately the division blows so a win next week against the hags sends them into the bye in decent shape.
  13. Ok I think we’re good
  14. They can never make anything easy
  15. Not that it really matters but better to not pick that
  16. Go up by 2 TDs with 6 minutes left, I’m ok with it
  17. Remember who we are fans of…
  18. First penalty on offense
