  1. I really hadn’t given much thought to Zac’s play calling outside of the conversation here. That being said, it really has been beyond abysmal. Just stupid plays that don’t take advantage of the talent on this offense. Oh and Burrow looks disinterested.
  2. These past couple series have been nothing but lackluster. Whatever they did on that first drive needs to be repeated. Stop trying to outwit them and play ball.
  3. Ok I had to come log in. Zac… that’s the best fucking play you could draw up on a 4th down play ??
  4. They had Veteran volunteers placing the white Pom Poms on each seat today. Afterward they got a light dinner and a free ticket to the game for volunteering. For those that may be Veterans or know someone who is, this is a local group that gets tickets for Veterans to the Bengals, Reds, FC Cincinnati and other events in the city for free. https://www.afta-cincinnati.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=cms.home
  5. Gramma is a Zombie. How appropriate... That crushes, early 90 thrash metal style. Not something I will add to the playlist however. For an amazing early 90's thrash band not well known: I recommend Forced Entry, "Never a Know, but the No".
  6. It sucks losing Reader for a while, but I think they have done a good job avoiding injuries to this point. Some of the other teams in the division have taken some big hits. If they can stay healthy, that will be huge for them as the season moves forward. For tonight's game, I want to see the o-line take the next step and get this running game going. Of course there are other things, but they need to establish that and control this game.
  7. This is the only note I saw and a comment about Zach Carter as well:
  8. True forgot about Carter being more the 3T guy. Whoever they bring up, my guess is they won't all that many snaps as Tupou will suck up the majority of them. Still will need someone to rotate in periodically, because as you say, Reader was playing a ton. Not sure one player will be able to replicate his snap percentage.
  9. Has Zach Carter gotten many snaps to this point ?? I don't think so, but that should change. Tupou will get the bulk of the snaps in place of Reader I think however. Bringing someone up ?? Shelvin has had his chances. Give me Davis and see what he can bring to it.
  10. As much as it pains me to say it because it means we lost the Super Bowl, I'm really happy for Whit. He's legitimately a great dude and was absolutely deserving of more. Yes, shame on the Bengals for both not showing him some love and not even being aware that was something they should consider. Whit got his ring and I am happy for him. Him doing that by beating the team that basically shunned him, has to be the topping on an amazing career. Best of luck to him moving forward.
  11. FC Cincinnati played to a draw against Seattle last night and is sitting in 5th place with 2 games remaining. After finishing their first 3 seasons in MLS in last place, they are that close to making the playoffs !! Really excited for the team and for the city !!!
  12. Probably the pain meds talking after shoulder surgery, but I'm feeling strangely confident about this game. WE'RE GONNA WIN !!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IgAsNtmlQJU
  13. I heard her ability to dismiss pain is legendary. Like a zombie or something. Laser focused and coming to inflict maximum carnage. I also heard TJ's Dead Gramma will be wearing the #00 jersey, which hasn't been allowed in the NFL for some time. SPECIAL !!
  14. Here's to seeing him win more of those in the season !!! Great job to Trey !!!
  15. They need to sell the rights to the bubble and add some naming title and decoration to it. If not, get some helmet stripes across that thing pronto. That would look sweet too.
  16. I've been called many things in life Wraith. I would have to go pretty far back to find someone willing to call me rational. That being said, I will take it !!!
  17. You know... Sometimes, you go in search of information and think you are on the right track, only to find you have been off the whole damn time. I have no idea what the hell is going on with my computer which led me to my thoughts on the defense, but it's definitely USER ERROR. My bad guys. Commence eating a little crow...
  18. This defense is the very definition of middle of the pack. It has been far from what most fans expect from this unit. While FULLY understanding the offense has to start faster and improve if they are going to get back to the playoffs, it's shortsighted to suggest this defense has been playing top 10, let alone top 5 level defense to this point. Heading into the Jets game, they had 2 sacks, little pressure and no interceptions. AGAIN, I think the Jets game saw better execution and more of what we expect. To gloss over the defense because of the struggles of the offense is off a bit. If Thursday doesn't show more improvement in building off of the Jets game, the Dolphins will blow them the fuck out. While I think the game being played at home, it being in primetime, and getting some confidence back could lead to a win for our Bengals, the Dolphins have beaten the Patriots, the Ravens and the Bills. Hardly 3 weeks of playing the Texans...
  19. We have spent a ton of time discussing the concerns about the o-line and have all but totally dismissed the other side of the ball. I don't know why either. They carried a large amount of SUCK last year !! Damn near every overall defensive statistical category was near the bottom of the entire league, with the exception of opponents TD's in the redzone. In the off season, they were strangely very active with their additions: DJ Reader, DT- Signed to a 4 year deal Trae Waynes, CB- Signed to a 3 year deal MacKensie Alexander, CB- Signed to a 1 year deal Vonn Bell, SS- Signed to a 3 year contract Josh Bynes, LB- Signed to a 1 year contract There were also some players that left the team such as (Kirkpatrick, Dennard, Fejedelem, Billings and Vigil) which required the back fill that we saw. If we are going to scrutinize the offense, specifically the line, we should be just as focused on the defense. Here's where I am at this point in time, especially how I view the given moves: Waynes and Alexander in place of Kirkpatrick and Dennard in not far off an equal trade. I'm hoping the change in scenery helps the two incoming players. Reader coming in to replace Billings is a big upgrade in my opinion, as is switching Fejedelem for Bell. I really liked those two specific moves. Bringing in Bynes and seeing Vigil leave is a win in my opinion as well. You can argue that Vigil made a lot of tackles, but where did he make those ?? So is it enough ?? If the thought is that defense will win you a championship, have they done enough to move closer to that realization ?? The one thing that really strikes me is that there are, what I view as, upgrades at all 3 levels (Reader, Bynes, and Bell).
  20. No, this isn't my mock draft for next year, well.... not yet. Rather, they announced the NFL draft will be in Cleveland next year. I tried to make reservations, but the rates for the rooms aren't loaded up yet. ArmyBengal Jr. and myself are definitely going for at least the first round festivities !!!
  21. So while there might be a handful of players you like in the later rounds, who's THAT player for you. That "Must Have" the Bengals should target that is likely to make an impact early on in their career ?? I'm thinking 5th-7th rounds... Devin Duvernay, WR, Texas- Obviously we've been talking about him here for a while, but I love what he brings. Hope he's there later. Colby Parkinson, TE, Stanford- A big red-zone target for Burrow to develop with. I really am not sold on any of our TE's. Trey Adams, OT, Washington- Oft-injured, but once thought to be a top end OT prospect. Worth the risk in the later rounds for sure. The player I want more than most though is: Justin Strnad, LB, Wake Forest While Wake Forest isn't a football powerhouse, Strnad is 6'3, 235 and is considered to be prototypical in coverage. He was the captain of the Wake Forest defense (see leader) but coming off a torn biceps in October of last season. We lost some special teams players and he has also led his team in ST tackles as well. I really like his game and think he could be a starter in the near future. Here's a write up: "He's built like a tall, puffed-up safety, but he also runs like one with the range to find play after play when he's kept clean. Strnad could have issues against downhill running attacks due to a lack of size and hand usage. He's an explosive athlete and aggressive striker, but big backs could wear him down on the pro level. He has the twitch and burst to roam from sideline to sideline and should play faster and more efficiently as his recognition improves. He's an ascending playmaker whose athleticism, third-down talent and special-teams ability could make him a middle-round selection as a 4-3 WILL or 3-4 ILB if his medicals check out."
  22. 4 year deal !!! Good job Bengals... https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/07/23/bengals-extend-tyler-boyd/
  23. Once upon a time, the Reds were decent enough that I made threads for each of their series. Well, that hasn't happened in a while. With that, I give you the 2019 Cincinnati Reds thread !!! Today is opening day and our beloved Redlegs kick off the season with the Pirates in town. I don't know how the season is going to end, but the Reds appear to be an improved team from last year. I'm interested to see if the pitching upgrades will be enough and I can't wait to see Puig crushing the ball in GABP !!! Hoping for a fun season and getting down to the ballpark again soon !!!
  24. There hasn’t been a topic in this forum in over a year, but I have to say that I am very excited to see the Cincinnati club playing pro soccer. They start the season tomorrow night against Seattle. While expect many growing pains with the team, I’m still pumped for pro soccer. I have played since I was 4 and even played on some Army teams along my time in service. Soccer bores some, but it is a passion of mine. FC CINCINNATI !!!!
  25. I will move this out after today, but I wanted to wish all my fellow Veterans here on the board a very Happy Veteran’s Day !!! Maybe our beloved Bengals will find some extra motivation and bring home the win today. However, take just a simple moment while we are watching the game or going through your day to remember there are still troops deployed and fighting. Wishing them all a safe return !!! A big Hooah from this retired Army Veteran !!!
