KMH14
Ok, times are slow here on the board and I am getting tired already of everyone's draft predictions, so here is hypothetical question to kick around. My brother and I seem to say all the time things like: "If the Bengals had Fulcher on this team, our Defense would be so much better."So with that in mind, what former Bengals would you take from our team's history, supplant them, in their prime playing days, onto the 2006 squad to make the team a bigger Super Bowl contender. (note, I already view the 2006 team as a super bowl contender.) I would say you limit it to five choices with the rest of the 2006 squad remaining in tact from this past year's team.I know this is a silly topic but, like I said, it's a slow time of year and I am not looking forward to this year's Super Bowl (unless of course Seattle wins)Anyway, here are my choices:Krumrie at defensive tackle replacing any tackle currently on this teamCoy Bacon as a pass rushing defensive end opposite SmithKen Riley at corner opposite DelthaProbably Fulcher at safety along side Madieuand my personal favorite as a kid, I. Curtis at WR along with Chad and T.J.I feel our O-line is solid, thus I have not included Munoz, Montoya or other great linemen. Obviously, there have been great Bengals in the past that we will not include but this anal hypothetical is meant to plug holes on the current Bengal team. Stripes
I pick Krumrie. He would solve our biggest issues the best on defense I think. If I were to choose and offensive guy as well, I'd go with Rodney Holman.
Riagogogoindanati
DARNAY SCOTT?
KMH14
Rodney Holman, good call TDB. He would surely help, at least in the red zone. By the way I am looking forward to meeting Sheena.
kingwilly
How about Pat McInally coming back to punt...I think this team would do well with Rodney Holman at TE.I also recall well Reggie Williams played OLB for us and was SI's "Sportsman of the Year"...he could supplant Simmons.CB Lemar Parrish was excellent as well. Riley, Parrish, O'Neal...not a bad group of CB's...
KMH14
KW, Parrish could also return punts. I ike it.

The_Next_Big_Thing
I'd go for Bruce Kozerski. Can't go wrong with one guy who can back up the entire offensive line.
DesperateDerelict
Hello? Is there anybody out there? here are some no-brainers -DLMike Reid - Chuck Noll was quoted as saying that he was the most difficult defensive player to scheme around.Coy Bacon (already mentioned) - They're still arguing whether he got 22 or 26 sacks in a single season.Tim Krumrie (already mentioned) - Relentless.LBBill Bergey - A monster in the middle, and pro bowler during the Steelers & Raiders hey-day.DBLamar Parish (already mentioned) - Best hitting corner I've ever seen (in stripes)Tommy Casanova - What can I say? my sisters became Bengals fans because of himDavid Fulcher - my all time favorite!OL - Munoz, Montoya, Bob JohnsonRB - J. Brooks, C. AMC
HA, Turk Schonert as a backup QB next year!
HairOnFire
Give me Bill Bergey, as he was my favorite player back in the day. That said, since this is all hypothetical fluff allow me to immediately trade Bergey for the same package the Bengals got. Something like two 1st rounders and a 2nd round sweetner. Consider the defense fixed.
NJ29
Rattler, Krumrie, Holman and Reggie.
ArmyBengal
Holman, Krumrie, Fulcher, and Riley hands down would make this team unstopable !!! WHODEY !!!
Tasher
Y'all must be WAY TOO YOUNG!Greg Cook as the backup QB (or Boomer Esaison, or Ken Anderson)Paul Robinson - Returns Dan Ross! Still holds SB record I believeRoss Browner - SB records for tackles by DL! I was so UNGLUED when the Bengals drafted him out of ND! The Cotton Bowl between him and Earl Campbell was awesome, then they get to match up as division rivals in the NFL careers, awesome!

BengalszoneBilly
Give me Bill Bergey, as he was my favorite player back in the day.Bergey was indeed the best LB the Bengals have ever had IMO. Throw Fulcher in at strong saftey, Reid and Krumrie on the line and that's the type of players that cure a sick defense in a hurry.
F.Cleveland
I say Boomer for back up next year, Holman for TE, Fulcher for SS. We switch to a 3-4 and pick up James Francis to play strond side middle LB. Maybe even pick up James Brooks as insurance if Kenny Watson can't go. Lastly, we need Downtown Eddie Brown to provide some much needed oldschool class to our touchdown celebrations.
DC_Bengals_Fan
I can't believe so many people left off Munoz, quite possibly the greatest OT of all time.
The_Next_Big_Thing
I can't believe so many people left off Munoz, quite possibly the greatest OT of all time. You see, going with Munoz, Krumrie, or even Montoya seemed, well, too easy. Besides, we are pretty darned strong across the offensive line, so we don't need to bring back a Munoz or Montoya. Maybe a Rimington.... KMH14
As great as Munoz was, I don't think he helps this team as much as Riley, Fulcher, Bergey, Ross/Holman, Bacon, Reid etc... Our O-line is one of the strengths of our current club. Obviously most people think some of these old timers on D would right the ship. I agree. There's tons of players I loved in the past that would not be as beneficial to this team. As a kid, I loved Jim Leclair. A. Ambrose might help. the list could be endless. I love the T. Schonert as back up. I will never forget his comeback victory against Seattle early in the 1981 season after Kenny went down. Tommy Casanova, another great call. I wish he would have longer.
