oldschooler Posted January 12, 2006 Author Report Posted January 12, 2006 Yeah it is Boomer`s job to give his opinon. But I have a serious problem with him going on a Pittsburgh radio station and bashingMarvin Lewis and Chad Johnson 3 days afterthe Bengals lost to the Steelers. He made it sound like Marvin has "lost control"of his team. That the "Bengals are in disarray" now."Chad Johnson is "unproffesional" and blah blah blah.NEWS FLASHCHAD IS UNPROESSIONAL!He pouts, taunts and basically cannot control his emotions. The list was unprofessional. The pepto incident was unprofessional. Crying about not getting the ball is unprofessional. His stupid celebrations are unprofessional......Chad would be much better off IF HE WOULD FOCUS ON THE GAME PREP AND NOT ON HIS CELEBRATIONS.Can you please tell me exactly how many times he has "pouted" or "taunted" ?I saw TJ "taunt" more people this year than CJ did.I also only know of one time that he "cried" about not getting the ball. And it was because he felt like they would have won if they did.I mean the Bengals only scored 20 points that game and he was the reason for 7 of them. And if you actually think that Chad spends more time focusing onCelebrations than he does working and focusing on his game...You`re just a "hater".Chad has a lot of talent, but his baggage is beginning to outweigh it. In fact, I'm beginning to lump him with Dillon. I say trade him while the trading is good. If anyone offers two firsts and second for him I'd trade him. I'd even take less.IMHO he is easily replaced by a new coordinator and a really good TE.Wow so what Chad has accomplished in 5 short seasons is affected by somethingso small ? You actually want to put him on the same level as someone that was well documentedas being a "cancer" and called Willie Anderson a "Bum" on National TV ?I guess you are just a "hater".Back on topic: Boomer s just paying his mortgage being a talking head. You have to admit, there isn't much positive that can be said about Sunday's game from the Bengal perspective. There is if you want to look for it.And if the Bengals would have won ...this would have been a non-issue.I guess misery really does love company though...This is a forum for God's sakes - if everyone just posted how great Marvin was and how everything was going to be just dandy and great and there are never any issues or problems or concerns - then this place would be boring as hell and about 3-5 posters would just be left jerking each other off all day...no one wants that...trust me. Well if you re-read through this thread (assuming you read it anyway)You would see that you`re in the majority and I`m in the minority. So I guess it`s just the opposite of what you`re saying... You bunch of circle jerkers... Anyway..again I don`t have a problem with what Boomer saidas much as WHO he said it to...Actually, they just played a little bit of it on WLW. It does appear that he was placating to the Pittsburgh radio guys way too much, especially with the comment of wanting 100 Hines Wards. One thing I have gained through this mess is my new found contempt for Hines Ward and Little Ben.It's fun to hate something. I use to hate Kentucky basketball, but I like Tubby, so I don't hate KY basketball anymore.I use to hate Notre Dame football, but I like Charlie Weiss, so I don't hate them anymore either.I can now focus all of my hatred on all things Pittsburgh! GO COLTS!I hear ya ! I knew that Boomer was playing to his crowd when he was praisingWines Hard so much ! I guess alot of people missed that part though...I have always hated the Steelers more than all the other NFL teams COMBINED !All they`re doing is adding more fuel to my fire of hatred ! Pay back is a mo-fo ! Quote

Eventually you have to say enough is enough and part ways. It's like having a really hot girl friend who constantly pisses you off with little things. Eventually you have to dump her.BTW if I ran the franchise Dillon would never have had the oportunity to do what he did. He would have been traded WAY before then. Quote

While you`re looking at the the MANY small incedents...I`m looking at the big picture. What happened was first reported by an inter-net rumor site. Marvin felt the incident wasn`t so detrimentalto the team that he should sit Chad down the 2nd half. And it`s not like that incedent made a difference in the 2nd halffrom the 1st half.Chad Johnson was thrown to 3 times in the 1st half and had2 catches for 30 yards. He was thrown to 3 times in the 2nd halfand had 2 catches for 29 yards. I`d say the team hearing the update on Palmer`s condition and the botched FG attempt to start the 2nd half knockedmore wind out of their sails than anything. And Chad Johnson loves the Bengals, he loves playing for Marvin,he loves playing with TJ and Palmer and he is one of the best WR`s in the NFL. So I don`t feel the need to see this "incedent" the same way as you do...If Marvin fails to get a handle on Chad and he spirals out of control. Then we will probably agree on this. But right now...we don`t. Quote

I have never said Chad caused the loss. There are a multitude of reasons for the loss. The biggest of which I consider to be the OC's play calling. What makes you think the other players and coaches reciprocate the love to Chad?I am looking at the big picture that includes two or three years from now. I can see Chad really pissing his coaches and teammates off and becoming a locker room Dillon. I'm ready for your hae on this, but I was one of the first to call for getting rid of Dillon Quote

Whur CHad At? Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 I don't see why everyone is doing this. One Minute everyone is saying how great he is, then a minute later they are saying How awful and immature he is. What is wrong with being a serious competitor? Is that a problem?! Quote

What is wrong with being a serious competitor? Is that a problem?! When he catches his first touchdown next season, and dances his next jig... This will all die for good. I think this is all still the aftershock of the game we're seeing... Chad has been too beloved in Cincinnati for this sort of mood swing to be permanent. Quote

He is great...and immature. I've always liked Chad Johnson, but IF these reports are true, then the incident would probably leave a bad taste in the players' mouths for the offseason. I love Chad's passion for the game; I like his skills as a WR. There have been some instances, though, that make some people concerned (Pepto incident, guaranteeing incidents, after Jacksonville game ranting & finally this latest incident). I can put up with his attention seeking because he also wants to win so badly, which is what, IMHO, separates him from TO. When he does things that are detrimental to the team (which this may have been), that's when I get concerned/upset.And by the way, there are plenty of "serious competitors" out there who don't demand that they get their way. Every player feels like they should get the ball more. Making it known to everybody when your team is already hurting does not make someone a serious competitor any more than a guy working harder to get open and be seen by his quarterback. On a side note, I'd officially like to say that I am part of the Skyline fan club after reading this entire thread. Quote

When he does things that are detrimental to the team (which this may have been), that's when I get concerned/upset. I agree on all points. Taking it further, you have to wonder what type of hangover the loss, and the incident, might have on next seasons Bengal team. Let's face facts, it wasn't just an ugly half of football. It was a gameday mini-meltdown in a contest of supreme importance by an already emotionally fragile team. And if that wasn't enough those concerns are compounded by the news of a devastating injury to the most important player on the team...an event that by itself would cast a shadow on the entire offseason. We're no longer the feel good story of the year. Quote
HoosierCat Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 Taking it further, you have to wonder what type of hangover the loss, and the incident, might have on next seasons Bengal team.On that point, I'm fairly optomistic. My read on the situation as it's developed is that there is broad unhappiness in the locker at the way things turned out last Sunday, and particularly about a certain wideout's halftime antics. I derive this from the insistent flow of anonymous "yes he did act like a butthead" confirmations made to multiple media sources, as well as the conspicuous absence of players (not to mention Marvin and Hue) rushing to Chad's defense.Scuttlebutt at the time of the Henry suspension was that Marvin was reluctant to take action until some of the vets got together and insisted he do so. I have no doubt that there will be similar, broad, support for issuing a notice to Chad that the party is over next season. And I expect that to happen. The question in my mind is the impact on Chad. Can he rise above this primma donna phase...or will he turn sulky? Quote
