bengalboomer7
I assume Boomer loves Marvin, because he's been singing his praises for the past 3 years! Where have you been? Have you not listened to any of that? You'd rather just take this one criticism and make it a blanket generalization of Boomer's thoughts about Marvin Lewis? Come on now.And no...Marvin shouldn't be talking about other players in the media like that. How would a parent feel if someone else went out in public and started criticizing their kids. Whether or not the criticism is true, it's not something that should be done. Let me go on the news and call my neighbors' children cry babies and see how they react. I'm sure they'd respond by saying, "He had every right to talk badly about my children in public! I have no ill-feelings whatsoever!" And all Marvin did was point out what a cry baby that Roethlisberger is.I guess it`s ok for Marvin to aknowledge the obvious and get bashed. But when Boomer aknowledges the obvious, he deserves a free pass andc can bash Marvin for doing it ?! It's Boomer's JOB to give his opinion! That's what he's paid to do! I doubt he'd keep his job very long if he went on shows and said, "I don't feel it's right to offer up any criticism of players or coaches". It's not Marvin's job to worry about players on other teams. Just like it's not the job of an adult to become a parent to other people's children. If he wants to go into the locker room and tell his players Ben is a crybaby, then whatever. Being a coach myself, it's not something I'd ever do, but to each his own. I even agree with Marvin....Ben WAS whining. To say it in the media, though, is crossing a line. I usually enjoy your posts, but you seem to have abandoned all sense of logic in this thread due to those orange-colored glasses that are apparently preventing you from seeing the obvious.Just beat me to it, SKy. It's the mans; job to report on this stuff. It's funny how most people will praise a guy for saying good things about the Bengals, then we'll chastize the same guy when he says something wrong. That doesn't include Peter King, though. It's a whole new level when you do that in the SAME article.
oldschooler
Ill let you get back to playing with your Chad dolls now schooler...Great comeback. Glad to see you resort to that when youdon`t have a good comeback that actually backs upthe BS you were spouting before. And I`ll go back to playing with my Chad dolls, while you continue to gulp down that Hater-ade... jamesbrooks21
I don't have a problem with what Marvin said. Rothlisberger basically said Odell was dirty. I am surprised nobody said anything about it before Marvin did. Ask Rothlisberger the same question about if it is dirty to go low on a QB. Do you think you will get the same answer now that his teammate did that s**t? Hell no. I like Boomer but he can suck a dick on this one. walshfan
What you fail to realize ( for reasons unknown to me ) is the Bengals are and will allways be Boomer's team as well as any fan's.. He played most of his career here..raised his family here.. took them to the super bowl... He's also a National figure now.. He has to be objective and I think he is..You seem to think that everything is ok here and nothing the "stars" of this team do is considered inappropriate or wrong.. Your entitled to your opinion.. I dont agreee with it but so what....We all want to see this team succeed.. Hopefully it will without all the drama next year...

And Marvin has done more for this city and team than Boomer has ever done.Boomer helped lead the Strike in 1982. Was that for the City or the Bengals ?When the Bengals hit the skids...where was Boomer ?And I`m sure that Marvin gutting the entire Defense and only having2 starters and 3 players TOTAL left from the 2002 Defense, has nothing to do with the Defensive struggles ? How about working with his 2nd D coach in past 3 year ...that couldn`t have an affect could it ?Your post looked more like an "asshat bitching on the inter-net"more than any post in this thread.Congratulations ! HairOnFire
Random thoughts... I'm no fan of Boomer, but I think too many of us want to kill the messenger due to our anger over the message. Boomer is commenting on an incident that many of us feel was plausible and I doubt he'd do it without calling upon his own local sources, of which he has many. What angers us most isn't the idea that an ex-Bengal player would break ranks. It's the idea that one of the Bengals best current players might be emotionally melting down at halftime in a game they were winning. And yeah, that is an example of Lewis losing control of a major weapon on his team. The question that needs to be asked is how accurate the rumor is, what Lewis's options were at the time, which party is truly to blame, and what needs to be done now. Marvin isn't perfect. His criticism of Ben was poorly worded and probably shouldn't have been attempted under any circumstances. That said, lets not lose sight of what his remarks were intended to do. They weren't offered out of thin air in an ongoing campaign to belittle Biggest Ben, a player he doesn't even mention by name. Instead, they were a bitter and mocking response to the charge that Kimo deliberately injured Palmer. Lewis is dismissing that huge and immediate concern by mocking the immaturity shown previously by Ben. Last, I mentioned this in the rumor thread, but I feel it's a potentially huge mistake for the Bengals to continue ignoring the rumor. This thing isn't going away for plenty of reasons, not the least being the magnitude of the game that was eventually lost. While I understand the desire to handle this matter behind closed doors, and the need for sensitive handling of Chad Johnson, the lack of an official response dictates that the unofficial version goes relatively unchallenged. HoosierCat
I agree completely.
ShulaSteakhouse
Yeah I am onboard with what Hair man said above also, well put.Aside from my previous sarcastic, all caps post, I actually appreciate what Boomer said, I think it needed to be said, because the local media here are too soft spined to even so much as question anything Marvin says or does, or Chad...that has rubbed off on the fans apparently as well.I love Marvin, I love Chad, I love the Bengals - but I have no problem calling a spade a spade when I see it - and respect those who do as well, much more so than those who never question anything or can't form their own individual opinion on something objectively. There's no agenda here - just reacting to what I see and hear, and a fan's desire to see this team win a championship and not settle for the same old mediocrity out of some sort of inferiority complex as Marvin put it.This is a forum for God's sakes - if everyone just posted how great Marvin was and how everything was going to be just dandy and great and there are never any issues or problems or concerns - then this place would be boring as hell and about 3-5 posters would just be left jerking each other off all day...no one wants that...trust me. richmond_mat
Yeah it is Boomer`s job to give his opinon. But I have a serious problem with him going on a Pittsburgh radio station and bashingMarvin Lewis and Chad Johnson 3 days afterthe Bengals lost to the Steelers. He made it sound like Marvin has "lost control"of his team. That the "Bengals are in disarray" now."Chad Johnson is "unproffesional" and blah blah blah.NEWS FLASHCHAD IS UNPROESSIONAL!He pouts, taunts and basically cannot control his emotions. The list was unprofessional. The pepto incident was unprofessional. Crying about not getting the ball is unprofessional. His stupid celebrations are unprofessional......Chad would be much better off IF HE WOULD FOCUS ON THE GAME PREP AND NOT ON HIS CELEBRATIONS.Chad has a lot of talent, but his baggage is beginning to outweigh it. In fact, I'm beginning to lump him with Dillon. I say trade him while the trading is good. If anyone offers two firsts and second for him I'd trade him. I'd even take less.IMHO he is easily replaced by a new coordinator and a really good TE.Back on topic: Boomer s just paying his mortgage being a talking head. You have to admit, there isn't much positive that can be said about Sunday's game from the Bengal perspective.

Well if you re-read through this thread (assuming you read it anyway)You would see that you`re in the majority and I`m in the minority. So I guess it`s just the opposite of what you`re saying... You bunch of circle jerkers... Anyway..again I don`t have a problem with what Boomer saidas much as WHO he said it to...

It does appear that he was placating to the Pittsburgh radio guys way too much, especially with the comment of wanting 100 Hines Wards. One thing I have gained through this mess is my new found contempt for Hines Ward and Little Ben.It's fun to hate something. I use to hate Kentucky basketball, but I like Tubby, so I don't hate KY basketball anymore.I use to hate Notre Dame football, but I like Charlie Weiss, so I don't hate them anymore either.I can now focus all of my hatred on all things Pittsburgh! GO COLTS!
