Profootballtalk's articles are usually pretty accurate....

If this did occur Marvin wont want chad back as a Bengal next year.

He got rid of Reggie myles for his altercation and if Chad grabbed one of Marvin's coaches or took a swing he wont tolerate that behavior at all.

the whole thing is disturbing to say the least.

if this is true, chad won't be back next season. And with Palmer down, with what i think will be until midway through next season, this franchise could be taking a u-turn.

Sorry, But I think if it were True. Marvin would already taken care of it.

With the Miles incedent it was betwen teammates.. This was between a player and a coach. If he did "swing" at either or... He would be gone. And Marvin would of already sent him packing.

Did anyone notice how many friggin ads are on that website. He gets money for each click on those ads and planting stories like this is a sure fire way to generate hits.

Not sure if its true or not but the website itself screams of sleeze. Not sure of its history though.

Say it ain't so, Chad! Say it ain't so!

Wow! I sincerely hope there is no merit to this story whatsoever. I haven't even had enuff time to digest the whole Carson tragedy.

:shocking:

I agree that it seems Marvin wouldnt have him even suit up for the second half if the incident occured as they reported it...

Im under the impression that Marvin has to use the fatherly approach with Chad most of the time.. For all his ability and his enthusiastic antics on the field the guy seems like he's very insecure in himself and hasnt really matured emotionally....

Rumors are that James, Ohalete, KK and Mitchel might have seen their last days as Bengals....

Marvin was throughly pissed at the playcalling of Brat and wants him gone being replaced by Zampese .

The front office is no longer enamored with Kitna as a backup either.

John Thornton doesnt think he'll be back.. he said it then recanted after talking with Marvin about him going public with it..

Lots of changes on this team on on the horizon....

That is pure fiction. Nowhere else in the media world does anything even close to this kind of incident appear...I call complete and total BS.

No way.

Now, some of the other posts, such as Tory, KK, Mitchell and Ifeani getting pink slips...that I can believe.

If it happened we'll know soon... Personally I think something happened at halftime... they played dead the second half...

I remember thinking that Marvin even looked like he wasnt into the game like he usually was....

Yeah, it's funny how Pro Football Talk is the only place to know anything about this. ESPN, Fox Sports, CNN doesn't have as good of sources as PFT.

Until it's reported on a reputable news site, I'd say it didn't happen.

Marvin didn't look the same the minute Palmer went down and he continued looking like that the rest of the game.

Come'on.

You really think this team would look the same once they saw the franchise QB laying on the training table with his knee in a brace and wrapped up?

I bet most of them thought Palmer would be ready for the start of the 3rd QT. When they go running into the locker room to see him out of his pads, he knee all bandaged up.. it took the life out of the team. Period.

They saw grown men don't cry -- I bet a few of those boys broke down in that locker room yesterday.... But... We'll come back...

That is BS guys, If that were true CJ would have not come out of that locker room in a Bengals uniform. Ohalete, after one of the trick plays seem to go after someone on the side line. But who cares about him he will soon be history. Hey, I don't think CJ could take Jackson anyway B)B)B)

Profootballtalk is usually on the money with their stories, they were the first ones to report that Perry needed a 2nd surgery for his hernia when no one else reported that and it was true. I truly hope that that was not the case but more inclined to believe it. I also hope that Ohalete is gone to many missed tackles, KK is always being used as toast hope he is gone, James was a good pickup but is time to go let Ratliff get the reps, Mitchell Cya...

I have sniffed the article and in my most humble opinion (ahem)....it's more than plausible. In fact, I bet there's something to it. Consider...

Chad is the most emotional player on the team.

Chad has previously complained about not getting enough passes thrown his way...even when stats show he has gotten more chances than any other wideout over the last two seasons.

Chad and Palmer are like peas and carrots, Forrest and Jenny, Republicans and corruption, but Chad's history with Kitna is far rockier, and has never been built on tanything close to the level of respect that Johnson shows Palmer.

Chad is the most emotional player on the team.

Only at halftime were players confronted with the true impact of Palmer's injury. Prior to that they had too much to do and too little information to absorb. Most would have known in an instant that even if they could beat the Steelers their Super Bowl dreams were dashed.

Chad is the most emotional player on the team.

After the game Marvin repeatedly mentioned that it was the play of VETERAN players, not rookies, that let the team down.

Chad considers himself uncoverable, or hadn't you noticed? Despite the Steelers habit of dropping as many as 9 players into coverage I doubt very much that he felt he wasn't open all game long. Oh, and I doubt very much that he could stomach the idea of Kevin Walter getting the same number of balls thrown his way.

Chad is the most emotional player on the team.

Chad hasn't celebrated in a very long time.

Even when Kitna was having success early in the game he was taking waaaayyyyy too long to throw the ball, and even when he did it seemed he was throwing to spots. That sort of passing game doesn't suit the talents of Chad Johnson very much....and Chad's emotional.

Last, I can envision plenty of reasons why Marvin Lewis would permit Chad to play in the 2nd half IF he had gotten into a fight with Jackson. Marvin knows more than anyone how emotional Chad is. He knows how close Chad and Palmer are. He had to know how emotional his entire team likely was upon being confronted with the news of the severity of Palmer's injury. He would have been reluctant to determine Chad's fate in the spot and in the heat of the moment, and that's exactly what he would have risked if he had sat Chad down in a playoff game. He would have wanted to deal with the issue behind closed doors, if possible. And last, in a game that the Bengals were leading he wouldn't have wanted to cripple the chances of success for every other Bengal player if it could be avoided.

Frankly, I bet the story is true.

Ohalete went after Bresnahan. I didn't see how or when it started, but our soon to be ex-safety started yelling at him before he even got to the sideline. Then continued on him at the sideline. He took a detour around the field goal net and then started on him again. Chuck was calm the whole time. I have no idea what it was about.

This guy will print ANYTHING.

Even if I sent him some gossip...he would post it.

Yeah sometimes he posts stuff that is actually kind of

accurate. But he doesn`t call it the "RUMOR Mill" for nothing.

I call BS on this one. Funny how " a League source says multiple

members of the Bengals saw blah blah".

He is basically saying...someone said that other people saw

something. The person he got his info from didn`t see anything.

And there was more press at that game than there has been

at any Bengals game in the past 15 years. I believe SOMEONE

would have reported ANY altercation besides this guy.

I was baffled why Chad was wearing what looked like a Washington Nationals cap in his post-game interview. Maybe he's done it before and I just didn't notice or maybe it just doesn't matter. But there's no way the Bengals part ways with him -- even he suckered punched somebody. You're talking about the best WR in the AFC who hasn't damned himself yet the way TO has. He'll be given the latitude that Myles wasn't because Myles was entirely expendable.

I did notice the Ohalete charge, finger pointing, and yelling on the sideline after the trick play TD but couldn't tell who he was going after. If it were a coach that said something to him about that play, they need to apologize to him because what happened on that play was not his fault. When they watch again, they'll see that Ohalete was where he should've been and there was no way he could have covered both Wilson and Hines Ward, who was also wide open on the same side below Wilson. James should have known better than to come up for the run and stayed in man with Wilson. Somebody other than Ohalete should've had Ward but nobody did. Bauman blitzed on the play and if he wasn't 5 foot 4 he might have knocked the ball when Randel El threw it back across the field to Big Ben.

I thought K2 had a solid season, but unfortunately he was "The One" who got burned twice for big plays vs. Steelers -- the 50 yd Wilson pass that set up a TD and the long interefernce call that set up another TD. I can't imagine he'll be sent packing because he did improve a lot this year and is a reliable backup at both safety spots and emergency zone corner. Ohalete played a great game vs. Steelers but it comes no where close to making up for the missed tackles and bad coverage he had all year. I'd say he's already gone if it weren't for one thing -- Marvin might like him. If you don't think that matters, take a gander at Carl Plowed and Anthony Mitchell. James could be gone but I doubt it. He's still respectable against the league's average WR. And Keiwan will never be able to start at CB in the NFL IMO -- he's flat out just too slow.

The most disappointing thing to me about the playoff loss was not the loss of Carson -- that's still too unbelievable to me to be categorized as just a disappointment. The biggest disappointment was the loss itself. Kitna came right in and had great success in the first half and even the first drive of the 3rd Q. After that Kit turned to sh*t, couldn't hit the broad side of a barn on some of his throws and looked lost and confused. After the disastrous 2nd series in the 3rd Q -- which started with a long sack on a 1st down pass and ended with a 2-man rush and Kitna unable to keep the ball in hands -- the game had foregone conclusion look all over it. But should Kitna be back, given Carson's status? I think he should. They're just going to find somebody able to come in like he did to keep that kind of game going for as long as he did nor are they likely to find a backup that capable who could give the Bengals a legit chance to go to playoffs if he had to play a lot of games next year. The only real question is at what price.

As for Brat, I think the biggest problem turned out to be the loss of Henry because it forced Housh out of the middle routes and put Walter in. Walter did a nice job as a possession receiver but Housh is more of a breakway threat, even if it means just adding another 10 yds to the end of the catch. Had K-Dub been in instead of Walter, they could've maintained Housh in the middle given K-Dub's deep ball threat. Chris Perry saw most of his action later in the game with the Bengals behind by 2 scores, which is when he should be in. Perry had a nice 1st down early in the game on a shovel pass but was otherwise completely ineffective as a receiver, which was also disppointing. Had Perry had some success, it could have forced LeBeau to change his downfield coverage some to get more man matchups with Housh and Chad. But it was all catch up at that point anyway.

All in all, the 2005 season was a classic example of why they should always play to WIN NOW. It already looks like it's gonna be a major chore just to get back to the playoffs and if there's any truth to this major dissension with Chad, it could be even harder.
