Dadraftnick
There is an article on Palmer in USA Today: link....http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nf...arrington_x.htm
HairOnFire
Not that it matters much, if at all, but everytime Norm Chow has been asked if Matt Leinart is a better QB than Palmer he's gone against local public opinion by backing Palmer. Frankly, I think Chow gained tremendous respect for the way Palmer handled heavy criticism and was able to turn around his career, and a program, despite playing on a USC team that simply doesn't measure up to the ones that have won national championships. For all of the highs Palmer has experienced I think he's grown the most from the lows he experienced at USC.
ShulaSteakhouse
I'm not sure why people think Leinart will be a better pro than Palmer, but I remember either Mortensen or Kiper saying that they thought Leinart probably would be a better NFL QB.Of course a lot of that depends on what sort of situation they fall into, but, I still think Palmer's more talented than Leinart will ever be. HoosierCat
Actually, current draft buzz has Leinart dropping. There's even talk that Texas' Vince Young could go ahead of him if he comes out...
smith288
Leinart is too hollywood to be successful. Carson's personality was more introverted which fostered a better chance at success. i think Leinart is going to struggle due to his own ego. bengalindian
I haven't seen much of Leinart in college, though I've seen more of him than I saw of Palmer. From what I've seen, I don't see as much talent as Carson, but I think Leinart could be something special if he gets put into a Bengals-type position. I mean, what good QB wouldn't flourish in what Carson has been put into?
Stripes
I think Leinart will be a very good quarterback. It is impossible to compare him with Palmer yet. Still, it seems a player coming out with Palmer's ability is pretty rare. He'll certainly be better than Alex Smith has been. I don't care how bad the 49ers are, he has been putrid. HairOnFire
I wasn't trying to ding Leinart. He's done what was expected in the sense that he's surrounded by far better talent and thus accomplished more than Palmer did at USC. But when it finally all clicked for Palmer it was breathtaking to see. Best, you could tell from the way he handled himself that he had learned how to handle himself under less than ideal circumstances. Leinart has never been tested in that way, and even when winning awards and championships never flashed the pure upside that Palmer did. The best thing Leinart has going for him as a pro is the fact that he only took one class this year, ballroom dancing, and was able to spend all of his time breaking down film of NFL games. That should jump start his NFL career.
LB51
Leinert and Palmer are both great talents. Palmer is showing his capabilities this year, and leinert will too when his time comes. Leinert better hope that he gets drafted into a situation like Palmer did though. Having an entire season to soak up knowledge from Jon Kitna before you have any pressure to take a snap? That's priceless experience. Leinert and Palmer would look as bad as David Carr behind a bad o-line and no running game. Carson is a great QB, but he will be the first to tell you that he fell into the right situation when he was drafted.
