AMC
Heard in the press box (in Tampa)Pittsburgh officials weren't commenting Sunday about reports that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger's injured right thumb is actually broken and that one of the options was to put it in a cast and have him miss the balance of the season. But some officials, coaches and even players pointed out that Roethlisberger is the same guy who last year, after a loss in the AFC Championship Game, claimed he suffered a broken foot in that contest. While it was notable that Steelers team physician Dr. James Bradley closely evaluated every pass that Roethlisberger threw in his early warm-ups Sunday morning, there is a feeling in some quarters of the organization that the Pittsburgh starter might embellish things a bit when it comes to injuries. Of course, in the increasingly cryptic world of the NFL these days, the Steelers might not be totally forthcoming, either. ... http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/stor...&page=morning13Things that make you go Hmmmm....... JPW
I happen to like Ben and I think that he is a darn good QB but he is full of s**t and everybody knows it.There is no way of telling what is real and what isn't with him. HoosierCat
I look at it this way. Either:1. Ben is brittle, and will have a Pennington-like career marked by endless bouts with injuries, or;2. Ben feels the need to make excuses for his poor play.Neither thing is something you want in your starting QB.
ShulaSteakhouse
His pre-game comments to the cameras on CBS made me wonder how serious he was - "it's REAL sore" and then smiled as he walked away basically. It seemed very sarcastic.Who knows. I thought the Steelers under Cowher were known for playing injury games.

It seemed very sarcastic.Who knows. I thought the Steelers under Cowher were known for playing injury games. The sideline reporter (Arman K?) said after halftime that Cowher said that Ben is doing pretty good with that bad thumb and smiled. After the first few passes, I think the Bengals had that one figured out.
blurple thunder
I never heard anyone ever saying that Ben's thumb is broken. What I think happened is that he stoved his thumb. That happens a lot in football especially to someone who's been hit as much as he has. It's really painful for a week or so and the swelling makes it hard to throw. Nothing serious, just something that could mess up a QB. Ben stated that his thumb was hurting him days before the game, so it's not like he was trying to make up excuses for his interceptions. Terry Bradshaw was a great actor. He admitted that he would fake injuries for the attention. Unfortunatly for him, the coaches didn't believe him any more when he said he was hurt. jjakq27
Make it stop...."REPLAY: Bengals linebacker Odell Thurman was penalized with a personal-foul call for hitting Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in the knees Sunday. On Wednesday, Roethlisberger said he thought the hit was dirty."I'm looking down the field; I threw it to Hines (Ward) early, and I saw him coming so I tried to let my body go limp so I could go down and not hurt my knee," Roethlisberger said during a news conference. "From what I heard, he said he got pushed or tripped or something, but any time you go low on a quarterback, you know it's a little dirty." duus
Even though his team-mate saw it differently, Rottenburger is trying hard to throw blame:"I tried to let my body go limp (when Thurman broke through), so I could go down and not hurt my knee," Roethlisberger said. "The more I heard, he said he got pushed or tripped or something. But any time you go low on a quarterback, you know it's a little dirty."Said Hartings, "I think (Thurman) did trip over me, because the first linebacker that came into me, we kind of hit, and I kind of spread out. I think he caught a little bit of my foot going down." Benji Speaks

He's not letting it go, it happened on Sunday, and now it is Thursday. He has to focus on the Bears............ His own lineman said that he tripped Odell, Benji is just being Ignorant and thick headed, What an a**h***!

Defender
That's it!!! He is officially dis-owned from the state of Ohio!! He goes in the trunk of people who I am ashamed to say came from this state. Bo Schembechler, Desmond Howard, Maurice Clarrett, and now Ben Worthlesberger... HairOnFire
Wow, that's lame. Not only is he ignoring the comments of the player who blocked Thurman, but it's not hard to find video evidence clearly showing the trip. But he still feels compelled to call Thurman a dirty player? It's funny in a way. Not only did the Bengals beat Pittsburgh in their own backyard, but they dictated how the game would be played. And for once it wasn't the Bengals who blinked, it was the Steelers who lost their poise and made a series of critical errors. Best of all, now it seems like we can throw out all of that crap about how the Steelers will "test your manhood" when you play them. Suddenly, it's the bully who is whining and making excuses. detriotboundbengals
Sportscenter reports that Big Ben calls Odell Thurmann's late hit on him dirty. Sportscenter clearly shows that Odell was tripped, and that Odell's forward motion carried him into Rothleiswhiner. What a chump. Hes still mad that we are the new AFC North Champs. He can't take it.Go Bengals GoWho-Dey
pedroza29
Big Ben must really be trying to give himself the name of "bitch." He's bitched about everything you can, his toe last year, both his knees, the "artificial noise" in Indy, his thumb, and now this. Please forgive me if I left anything out, they are hard to keep up with. The man has played football all his life, and can't take a little shot to the legs? If you didn't notice, Big Ben is pretty big and breaks a lot of tackles, he has to get hit in the legs to go down. Might as well get use to it. WhoDey42
Did you hear what the woman on SportsCenter said as she was showing the clip? It didn't make much sense. She said that Ben said he thought it was dirty, but the film shows he was tripped. Then she says "but, either way, a dirty hit"If he was tripped how is it a dirty hit? Or did I hear her wrong?
