Random Post Game Observations

- Chad stepped up Huge, he is probably the best route runner in the NFL, Love the Proposal celebration, Like how he kept telling the Defense "I got you don't worry" ...... great confidence in his abilities. Kelly Washington is now officially cutable for all intensive purposes but I guess we will just not resign him. Chris Henry is playing outstanding for being so young.

- Carson has ice water in his veins, and never panicked when almost every other QB would have folded, knowing that he was going to have to outscore the Colts.

- This was the best Offensive Line play I have ever seen by the Bengals. Freeney was non existent and Levi did a helluva job. All of the OL should get game balls in an albeit losing effort.... this loss does not rest on their shoulders that is for sure....

- Justin Smith played great today... he was the only DL that looked like he was truly giving 100 %, and he got some great pressures. Now if we could only replace the other 3 DL who might as well have been cardboard cut outs.... I swear JT and Robinson are the worst DT Duo in the NFL and maybe in Bengals history.... Hell I would Love to have Big Daddy back or even Oliver Gibson. Also why isn't Shaun Smith starting or even dressing?

- I think this off-season it might be time to make the switch to a 3-4. The team will be stacked at LB with 5 potential starters and great talent at that time.... couple that with the fact that the DL will still be below par without any run stuffers and it only makes sense. This will be helped by drafting a Stuffer like 350 lb Gabe Watson from Michigan and then play him as a NT. Also since the team has to blitz anyway to get a rush, they might as well do it from a 3-4.

- The weakest position right now on the team is Safety. Ohalete and Keanu could not start for USC or Miami. Or hell for most of the BCS eligible teams. These are not NFL quality safety’s.... One should still be a substitute teacher, and the other one should be a 2nd stringer in Arizona. Greg Blue SS from Georgia please be there when we pick.... Until then Madieu please make a miraculous recovery... or hell play Reggie Myles back there.

- Jeremi Johnson had a few devastating blocks out there, and the Duo of Rudi and Perry is really shaping out nicely. They provide a great change of pace to each other.

- Odell played good today and would be my Def MVP from a Unit that stunk as a whole. He showed some great quickness and intensity when the others looked like their cat had just been stuck in a blender. As for Pollack - I hope you liked that extra bonus money, because ever since you held out and then lost your virginity you have been worthless. As for Simmons who shined 2 weeks ago.... welcome to oblivion.

- I think Bresnahan might need to coordinate from up in the box like Bratkowski. That way maybe he can see the whole field and realize... wow their lumbering TE runs right down the middle open every time. I swear TE our this teams kryptonite. If Madieu is in there I believe this game is a win.

- The Phantom Pass Interferences are really getting annoying. It is too hard to beat Indy without them getting help, but when the Refs spot them 7 points it is really tough.

- Deltha Oneal is the teams best CB, and Keiwan might be better than Tory. Especially when it comes to covering a faster WR. Tory relies on his long arms so much that he forgets he has slow feet to go with them. Wayne burned him so much today I thought Tory was wearing #27 and went to UC.

- Tab Perry is a top 5 KR in the Game. Great Returns. We should let him do Punts as well.

- I liked how Marvin kept everyone from panicking. In years past this team would have folded at 14-3 and def at 35-17. They never quit and fought till the last onside kick.

- This loss although painful, is not that bad in the long term. Because Pitt Lost and will lose next week to Indy and we will win against Balt.... we should go into the Pitt game 1 game up with the possibility of stretching it to 2 Games. Balt did us a huge favor today. Also the Bengal’s will learn from this loss and I think gain confidence.... knowing that the 2 Best Offenses in the NFL played today. Also after today you better believe no team will want to see Cincy in the playoffs.

- I can even see a situation where the Bengals still get the #2 Seed in the AFC. Indy has the #1 wrapped up so it is time to focus on Denver and winning the AFC north. If the Bengals can get the #2 seed, that most likely would give New England the #4 for winning the East. Then that means that in Week 2 of the playoffs NE would most likely go to Indy (4 plays 1).... then how great would that be if they upset Indy and then the Bengals win which would mean the AFC championship would be in Cincy against Dillon and we wouldn't have to beat the Colts.

Can't argue with a lot there, BJ.

My impressions from watching the game were mostly on offense...Carson may have ice water in his veins but he still locks on to receivers and throws into coverage too often for my blood. Particularly when he's looking for Chad. He had plenty of time generally tonight and still made some questionable throws.I wish we had a decent TE he could dump off to sometimes.

Chris Perry looked pretty good tonight. Rudi was a monster; wish they'd used him a few times more.

Agreed Smith looked good; I thought the d-line played well overall. Too bad we couldn't make them pay for that 4th and 1. Run D was solid.

James doesn't have the wheels to hang with a guy like Wayne.

Zone coverage has holes that are too big. I saw more Colts receivers open in the middle of four guys than I liked.

Henry still needs to catch balls thst hit his hands. He's literally hit or miss.

Other thoughts welcome...

Couldn't Agree more with your observations. I loved the game from begin to end and did any one see the hit Shane Graham throw on the last ONSIDE kick?

As Madden would say "Boom!"

The O-line play was more than impressive. It was beyond words amazing.

Chris Perry, even though he's from Michigan, is badass.

The Colts' D is overrated.

I said it a few days ago that Levi should make the Pro Bowl if he plays well today. He played better than any of us thought possible.

85.

Peyton Manning is the best QB I've ever seen. EVER.

I love the Ravens....for now.

I must have missed it. Was it good enough to make ESPNs "Jacked Up" reel?

Pollack palyed a great game, i know he had a couple tackles for losses.

James may have been a burnt a bunch, but hey when your running some disguise BS they were running were giving wayne a half a step, just retarded.

A couple time i wish the secondary gambled and tried to cut off some routes and pick off the football.

James got his hand on like 3 balls and didn;t pick them off today, in the past he does.

Greg Blue is the next Reggie myles nothing more nothing less, so please don't draft him.

No1 noticed, but Reggie Myles sat out of the game.... at least i didn't see him on special teams.

On that 4th and one Levi missed a block that would of spung perry just enough for the 1st down IMO. that was levis only mistake all game, man played like an allpro.

bengals defense had 9 plays that went for losses or no goin....really good, but just pathetic on everything else.

the amount of time manning completed a pass on 3rd and 10+ was just pathetic....put 9 guys in coverage if you have 2.

on 4th/3rd and one, we not once handed it off to rudi to run up the middle which in this game maybe we should have.

Perry is the real deal at Rb, I haven;t seen burst of speed out of the backfield like that in a while....if he had the ball 10 more times he would of eventually busted one for a 50+yd td, i think the safeties were playing so far back cause of our passing attack, and having the lead.

It's just too bad, if we got the lead in that 2nd half, i think we would just ran the ball 20x in a row and would of smacked them right on the mouth everytime.

Chad played the best game of his career, my god he was making catches no1 could make, but him.

Justin smith is a pimp we need to offer him a decent contract now, he can play football, he may not get 10+ sacks a year, but he has 5x the heart of half our defensive players.

We should of matched KK up on clark, last i checked he came to cincinnati as a corner, and owned plaxico burris back in the day, IMO he could of blanketed Clark...

We could of just put oharetard back there scanning the D looking for the open man.

i forget what they did on 4th down, but if marvin was thinking he should of called a TO, cause IMO Dungy would of kicked the fg, or could of gotten more beef up on the line.

Don't stop with just the line BJ. Considering the defense it went against, it was the best offensive display by ANY Bengals team I've ever seen, and I've seen 'em all since '69! Even the record game versus the Browns last season cannot touch it.

Justin Smith played great today... he was the only DL that looked like he was truly giving 100 %, and he got some great pressures. Now if we could only replace the other 3 DL who might as well have been cardboard cut outs...

Justin was one of the few bright spots defensively for Cincy. Great effort to put pressure on Manning. Now Robinson I had high hopes for. It looks like I can take those hopes in one hand and s**t in the other, and we all know which will fill up first.

I think this off-season it might be time to make the switch to a 3-4. The team will be stacked at LB with 5 potential starters and great talent at that time.... couple that with the fact that the DL will still be below par without any run stuffers and it only makes sense. I think you're talking crazy now, but after the weak ass display by our defense against the Colts, especially on third downs, I'm willing to try anything!

Ohalete and Keanu could not start for USC or Miami. Or hell for most of the BCS eligible teams. These are not NFL quality safety’s....One should still be a substitute teacher, and the other one should be a 2nd stringer in Arizona.

Excuse me, but I live in Arizona, and the best either would do here is 3rd string/practice squad.

Tab Perry is a top 5 KR in the Game. Great Returns. We should let him do Punts as well.

We should do everything possible to get him playing time period. He is dangerous with the rock under his arm!

We'll just call this one the "Good Lord Willing" scenario.

meh bolly i disagree with your sig, i still wont believe the bengals have that bad of D, same with the colts.

were one of maybe 4 teams with a probowl qb, wr and rb.....same with the colts, except for right now 2 of there 3 are better, and they have a better 2nd wr by leaps and bounds..no offense to tj, but wayne will own him any day.

In fact the colts may have the best offense of all time.

so to say our D sucks just aint fair, look what we were up aginst, 2 1 st ballot hall of famers, and maybe 1 more in edge james.

I really liked how they used Dallas Clark, but that's their offensive scheme as well....kinda wish the Bengals had a weapon like that at TE...BUT on the list of immediate needs it's far down the list....

I don't know if it is a win... but you're right. After like his 4th catch for long yardage, I said to my wife "I Miss Madieu".

Perry running between the tackles was very promising... but I'll need to see him do it again before I'm sold on him doing it more than once or twice a game. I love him as a pass catching RB... but there is no doubt that Rudi is the man. His second TD run was something that Perry will never be able to do... and we need a physical RB who thrives on 2nd efforts like that.

On switching to the 3-4. You watch all our games on when the other teams runs the ball all of our LB's have trouble shedding blocks. I think this is why marvin says the running problems aren't all on the Dline. They(Dline) are supposed to hold their point of attack(which they struggle at) and it's the LB that's supposed to make the tackle, but they routinely get stuck in traffic and can't shed blocks very well. Don't know if the 3-4 would help wiht that.

Feel good moral victories aside, I just want to beat a good team for God's sakes.

This team isn't as good as their record, due to their defense. And unfortunately the Bengals' won't go anywhere this year unless their defense gets lucky or comes up with freak big plays like they did earlier in the year.

This Bengals' team reminds me of the Colts 2 years ago.

I'd say more like the Colts of last year. They went 12-4... They only played 7 games against teams with winning records(3 of them were 9-7 teams), and lost 3 of those games... (and also lost to the 7-9 Cheifs).

We beat the Bears, but lost the the Jags, Steelers, and Colts. We still have a chance to make up for it by winning against the Steelers and Cheifs... but there is no denying that we have an easy schedule... as did the Colts last year. They benefited from the easy schedule... and now everyone believes they are a great team.

Next year, there will be more believers in us... but we do need to win a few more games against winning teams... something I believe we are more than likely to do.

Linebackers are getting blocked because the tackles arent clogging anything up.. there usually on their ass looking up at the sky after a play...pitiful ..

Hell. I'm not the only one saying it! They're saying it all over the news, sports shows, and internet! Explain how does giving up 5 individual +10 yard 3rd down conversions to the Colts DOESN'T suck!

It's all about getting pressure with the fron 4. That's why the Pat's beat the when Seymour was in there, and why Jax always gives them a hard time. You get everyone else defending the pass. Until the Bengals upgrade their D-line than they'll have to play perfect shootouts with them.

When it's all said and done, Manning might break every record there is. His ability to change things at the line is amazing.

Ohalete needs to get back to sound fundamentals such as keeping his pads low and driving through a ballcarrier rather than playing patty-cake trying to strip the ball.

Hopefully this is a confidence boost for the team. They have the ability to be that good. They went toe-to-toe with the best team in the league and had a chance late in the game. They should know that they can move the ball on anyone, including the Steelers and the Ravens.

BTW, Reggie Myles left the field right before half-time. Something about his collarbone/shoulder area.

Run the ball straight ahead on the short yardage stuff.

Try the deep ball to Chad once or twice in the second half.

It is so obvious what a capable tight end can do for a team. The jury is still out on Pollack but Heath Miller sure would look good in stripes.

People are failing to mention that the reason Chris Farley has to send LB's on the blitz is because 3 of our 4 DL can't get a pass rush to save their life....

Justin Smith brought the Budweiser Spirit.... but Geathers, and our Awful DT duo might as well just start jumping up to tip the ball when they say Hike... because they sure as hell aren't going to get near the QB.... I don't know how many piss poor games our DL needs to have until people start to look at the big f**king glaring weakness which is our DT's..... they aren't Stout hole cloggers sure.... if they aren't going to do that then they should be penetrating fire gappers.... but they aren't that either.... they are in the never never land of not being good pass rushers or run stoppers....

And a Defense is only as strong as it's middle Core (DT,DT,MLB, SS, FS) And lets just say we have Odell and 4 guys that would be backups at USC in those spots.

First off, the Bengals offense will not be elite until it has a tight end that is worth his salt. OR WE GET A COORDINATOR WHO KNOWS HOW TO USE ONE.

The tight end will never be used by Bratkowski. I thought the first play might be a good omen, but the ball didn't seem to go to a TE the rest of the game.

As it's been mentioned several times, that sweep on fourth and one had to be the 'bone head play of the game". What was Brat thinking? The success up the gut was there EVERY SINGLE TIME. Why not kick a field goal so a TD would win it?

I was thoroughly disgusted watching this game.

I suspect the Steelers will take it to the colts. Unless Maddox is the QB, then the steelers will be lucky to score.

The Indi defense is almost as bad as Cincinnati's. And the colts will not win the super bowl.

The refereeing was inconsistent at best. <_< I don't mind bad calls, as long as they call it both ways. Indi got a few of what I like to call "Michael Jordans". Calls for who he is not what was done. Maybe in a few years Palmer will get a few of those. :o
