USMC203 Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 When Coach Marvin was ask about Andrews taking snaps at DT he just dismissed it saying he just wants everyone to be able to do it for back up. If that is the case then why has no one seen other backups doing it?? Does our Football God have a answer for stopping the run and is he going to do it Sunday? Someone give me a little help and love here for this. Quote
Stripes Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 I think perhaps Marvin has forced himself to accept that maybe the defensive line can be blamed for some of the run stopping deficiencies. Because we don't have very many options on the defensive line, outside of the starters, Shaun Smith, and Matthias Askew, he's just throwing our own Tony Siragusa out there during practice to see what happens. NYBengalfan Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 I think that DT would be a good position for Stacy Andrews, He would be great at filling up the hole in the middle. Quote
ShulaSteakhouse Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 Andrews is nothing more than a possible last ditch back-up in case of injury and desperate situations.they have since decided to move on and keep him at OT.Don't read into it more so than what it is.If they really wanted a 2nd or 3rd string DT they could get a better one off of a practice squad or in the draft next year. derekshank Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 I don't think he has the killer-instinct necessary for the position. You can't just stand there. The job is more than just filling space, or the guy on Big Orange's avatar would be the best NT in the history of the league. Quote
HairOnFire Posted November 17, 2005 Report Posted November 17, 2005 Put me in the camp that thinks many of you are reading too much into this. Marvin has repeatedly stated his admiration for the way the Patriots use their most unique athletes in unconventional ways. This includes having players ready to provide depth at positions other than their own and as role players who can contribute in special situations. Frankly, it wouldn't surprise me to see Andrews line up in the backfield some game since there have been about a half dozen different players who have gotten snaps at FB or HB already this season.
