Oh and here to save him the trouble:

HairOnFire: But wait! a year and a half ago, I think, although not backed up by facts or common sense, DontPushMe said once that Perry wasnt a good pick! So this post is irrelevent!

There, i took care of that for you, now try making a response on something that has happened in the past year. Or is that too hard for you? A bit over your head?

I seriously want people to have a real conversation with me about this. Perry has looked better than Rudi this year, period. He has the ability to make a play when the blocking breaks down (see the 7 yard gain made out of what would of been a 2 yard loss for Rudi, the one where Palmer threw a block). He has inside strength, and can take a pounding over a season. Hes a threat out of the backfeild on every play (See any rudi johnson screen pass). Plus it appeared last night down the stretch, the bengals went to Perry more than Rudi. Or maybe it just looked that way because Perry was making plays whenever he touched the ball.

Also I'd like to point out that while I disagreed with the call, i think it should of been a qb sneak, but our "power" runningback rudi johnson couldnt use his power to gain 2 feet when the team needed him most on 4th and <1.

Perry > Rudi... U mad?

EDIT: Oh yeah, one more generic post to handle for you guys:

"DPM just hates rudi johnson!"

 I think hes a solid RB, but I want more for our team, I want something like what the Jags had at RB last night. I think Perry can be that, and I know Rudi can not. RJ would be good for a ball control offense with a top 5 defense, hes not the right player for our team though.

I am missing the part here where you acknowledge that Perry's failure to block cost the team the game.

*That said, he had a very good game before that. But don't ignore what is a critical part of being on the field and act like it did not happen. If Perry is not steamrolled, the Bengals may have won that game.

I = Not Mad

Favorite Bengal of all time = James Brooks

Chris Perry > or = James Brooks

At worst, Perry should split carries with Rudi. The reason the Bengals dragged their feet before signing Rudi long term is they suspected Perry could be a top 10 type running back. Personally, I am thinking top 5 potential.

I know, I know. I too have just committed Bengal blasphemy...

And your popint is....? That a bunch of other homers are all over perry's jock? And that means what? And that makes sense how?

I'm not so quick to jump on Perry for the missed block or Rudi for failing <again> to convert a 1 yrd play. There were many errors and none of the good/great plays made by any single player mean s**tE when the result is an L.

Yes, it was poor execution but I am more mystified by the playcalling.

I think the playcalling cost us the game.

Rudi makes Perry more effective. Perry makes Rudi more effective.

This is called balance. Something that teams strive for. Somehting that keeps the D guessing and harmonizes the rest of the offense.

Loved the Perry catch on third down in the first half. That seems to be his place at the moment on this team. The missed block at the end was pathetic (So were all the missed tackles through the game). In regards to Perry though, people were quick to say Rudi is no Dillon, well Perry is no Rudi. Perry will not lead this team as an everydown back. When he shows he can pound it in between the tackles, I'll listen. Until then, get off of the mans dick... Oh yeah and where exactly was Perry the first 4 games ?? Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he's playing and healthy, but quit with all the praise of someone doing a less than mediocre job on the field. Starter ?? I think NOT... Agree, stupid thread...

WHODEY !!!

I seriously want people to have a real conversation with me about this.

Why would they? You're the one who sacrificed your own credibility over this issue. You're the one who admitted he repeatedly baited people over this issue. You're the one who lied about what others were supposed to have said. And you're the one who both claimed the Bengals would have been better off skipping the Perry pick while simultaneously claiming you backed the selection. So knowing that you've already had it both ways...why not have a conversation with yourself where you argue both sides and then claim you were right all along?

BTW, last night Perry managed to break a tackle using power on a rushing attempt for the 1st time this season. Props. That said, his miserable pass blocking during a blitz pickup resulted in Palmer's late fumble...costing them a chance to win. So maybe you should start your conversation with yourself there.

Just like Bettis and Parker (or Staley last year), they both have their roles.

Perry does deserve the ball more often and probably will get it more often as the season goes on like last night. I really think they need to go with the hot hand more.

That said they went 4-0 with Rudi and there's something to be said about ball control and keeping the other team's offense off of the field.

Rudi is what he is, and so is Perry, use them appropriately is all I say. It's nice to have both and I hope they increase Perry's workload because he deserves it.

Perry is a stud in one of the throws to him I saw him and was like its going to perry and it did :P I'd like to see more of him in 1st half when were racking up points in the 1st half then finish off with rudi once we have a nice comfey lead... nothing agaist rudi but perry is just better passing weapon :op

Keep in mind, Perry is just now getting into football shape. No excuse for the missed block though. I'm sure ML will not let him forget it anytime soon. For now, I'm just enjoying having them both in stripes. Besides, we have better things to worry about. Like preparing for Charlie Batch...

Chris Perry is greater than or equal to James Brooks??? What a disgrace.
