Stripes
Yes, I have been very impressed with Tab Perry. I was one to pimp Russell during the offseason, and so far, I have been proven wrong. Perry follows his blocks very well, and is much more physical than most returners tend to be. bengalindian
Yeah, I was just looking at stats, and Tab is top 10 in return avg. That's pretty darn impressive.
BengalPappaw
Yes -- I'm extremely HAPPY with Tab Perry.I hope he can continue to contribute on special teams AND eventually fit in the offense. He is a big, strong receiver who, in college, was able to get big yards after the catch.

membengal
I also had good feelings about Tab. And, yes, still happy.I like how he accepts contact on the kickoff returns and still gets extra yardage. Very impressed so far. He is smooth. ahanes
This guy is just what Marvin Lewis is looking for out of a #5 receiver. His biggest impact is on special teams and that's what Marvin is wanting. No doubt Kelly Washington has more talent than Perry, but he doesn't do anything on special teams so Perry gets the nod. If Perry keeps working hard, maybe Lewis will give him a shot on offense as the season progresses. But for a 6th round pick...the return on investment has been EXCELLENT*

He's been learning well - I remember the Cleveland game, he was running a bit too straight-up and got jacked up. Been keeping his pads nice and low since.Wouldn't mind seeing him get a chance to catch a few.

It seems on punt coverage, Perry, Myles, and Walter are always the first to the ball, and he has been making his tackles. The same goes for kickoff coverage. His presence has further opened up the opportunity for the others to make plays, and it is showing on the field. It seems like more than half of our kickoff tackles are made inside the 20 yard line. Credit to Shayne Graham as well, as his kickoffs this year have looked awesome.

I am also suprised at how good Tab is on kick coverages as well as returns - solid role player, can't have enough of those.
HairOnFire
To be honest I'm still trying to figure Tab Perry out. His returns are always solid, but he never seems to be going full speed or making any hard cuts. Just gliding along...reading his blockers...slipping this way or that. I swear on his longest return he looked like a guy out walking his dog. Can he keep producing like that? That said, like others I've been extremely impressed with his kick coverage skills. He's as physical as he is fast and he never seems to get fooled.
AMC
Tab seems to be doing a great job as the outside gunner on special teams, and his returns will continue to get better....would like to see him progress as a WR, but Walter is definitely ahead of him...Interestingly, it is because of Walter's increased role as #4 WR, that Tab is getting the gunner opportunities on coverage...Tab is where Walter was a couple years ago, but Tab has the added return capabilities....To be honest I'm still trying to figure Tab Perry out. Stripes
I noticed TJ looked like that too when he returned kicks....like they were never going full speed....maybe its an optical illusion!?!?! Perry and Housh could be the returner equivalents to Rudi Johnson as a running back. If they move at full speed, then they have no time to wait for holes to develop, because the blockers don't have enough time to make them. I suppose that is speaking the obvious, but unless you have Dante Hall speed and can just flat out burn the entire coverage unit at once, you need to slow it down until the lanes open and then burst through the hole. Add that to his physicality, and we have ourselves an excellent kick returner.
