LesterLyles
Well, guys, I have obviously had my heart torn out given the status of my team particularly my QB situation (pennington done for the year, Fiedler out 6 weeks). As you know, I am New Yorker but my wife is from Cincy so I truly pull for the Bengals (and Reds a bit as well). As my season crumbles, I am going to try and stay interested in football by supportng my wife and her Cincy Bengals. I have been very impressed so far and I think the future is very bright. But as a fan that has had his heart ripped out a few times (vinny injury in '99, Chad in '03 and now), my advice to you and to any team for that matter is enjoy tyhe wins while they come. I don't have to tell you guys about struggle so I am probably singing to choir here. But seriously, have a great time this year w/ this very exciting team Things happen in the NFL week to week and year to year so just have fun while you can!! The Jets are playing for Matt Leinart right now!!!
HoosierCat
Pennington just seems cursed. And what a crappy break for Fiedler, too. Rumor has it they are looking at bringing back Vinny...yikes.But anyhow, welcome aboard the bandwagon. I know several Jets fans who are climbing aboard. The more the merrier! jbengals1
well that was rude the guy welcomes you aboard, and you jump on him for it - i guess you must have JETlag
HoosierCat
Oh, that's OK, jb. I expect Lester's a tad out-of-sorts what with the Jets' prospects being reduced to the proverbial wing-and-a-prayer by week 3. I mean, that's a pretty familiar feeling for us Bengals fans, ain't it?I do agree that the Vinny rumor is far-fetched...OTOH so far the Jets have reportedly worked out Jonathan Quinn, medicine woman, and Jesse "The Bachelor" Palmer. Frankly, I'd rather have the geriatric Testeverde...or just throw Bollinger in the fire and see what happens...before I'd sign either of those two. Stripes
Welcome aboard, Lester. Always glad to have a another fan supporting the team. In return, I shall pull for the Jets this year and next!Who-Dey! J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets!

Hey, they toolk the Jags to OT with a Qb who couldn't theo for more than 10 yds so I think they can win some games this year...but I don't see anything better than 8-8. The very sad thing today is that Pennington's career is probably over. Very sad!
HoosierCat
Well, look at it this way...at least you have the Ravens up next...and they don't have a QB either...so you're even! Go J-E-T-S!
Stripes
Yeah that's a great point... I think y'all still might manage to win in Baltimore without Pennington or Fiedler... Imagine how the vultures would be screeching over Billick's head!0-3 Ravens? Make it happen Gang Green!
turningpoint
Love to see the jets get Lienart anything but the ravens or browns getting him. He'd really make the franchise into a true superbowl contender instead of just a playoff contender.Would take probably 1 or 2 years though before he's well at carson palmer like competence. BengalsMan3203
I mean the Jets could go with someone like Jeff George, Chad Hutchinson, or Tim Couch. Maybe even Mr. Smith......Just saying...
ahanes
Maybe the Jets will try to swing a trade for Kitna?? Hmmmmm. But you're right in that a team's fortunes can change quickly. If Palmer went down (god forbid!), my outlook for the Bengals' season would be drastically different. Welcome to the bandwagon though...seats are filling up quickly.*

Stripes
They already grabbed Vinny Testeverde, and I think he was their best option.
LesterLyles
They already grabbed Vinny Testeverde, and I think he was their best option.Well, they need 2 qbs at this point so I guess Vinny makes sense as one of them, simply b/c of his familiarity. Still, if he plays for any other reason than an emergency, I will be upset. As for Kitna, he would be a nice option for NY but Cincy would have to be stupid to give him up. back-up QB is so important. I mean if Carson goes down for a few weeks, how good do you feel w/ Kitna? pretty good. I felt that way w./ Fiedler to until he went down. Cicny would probably demand very high compensation and no offense but I wouldn't want the Jets to give anything too high up.
The_Next_Big_Thing
I heard Baltimore might consider trading Kyle Boller and Anthony Wright for a nice Jersey style Sub Sandwich!
BengalByTheBay
Hey LL -- thanks for the nice words. To the board, this guy's been around for awhile -- he's a Jets fan but is very familiar with the Bengals as well. I wouldn't call him a bandwagon jumper because I doubt he'd be doing backflips if the Jets suck and the Bengals win the Superbowl. I, for one, know how it feels to see your season circling the drain. Sorry for the past couple of weeks -- brutal. Too bad you're not in the NFC North -- you'd still be the favorite.
BleedinGreenNC
Whats up all! Im here to again say great job so far this season! As for the Jets, what more can i say, this is the curse of Namath.
Columbusbengal
<As my season crumbles, I am going to try and stay interested in football by supportng my wife and her Cincy Bengals. >Sorry to hear about Pennington and there is still room on the Bengal bandwagon for anyone and everyone! Whenever anyone suggests letting Kitna leave (either to get another draft pick or to save money), I cringe. The number one thing the Bengals have over any other team is a backup QB who can lead the team to victory (not victories as dominating as Carson, but victory all the same). Injuries strike suddenly and they can definitely be devastating. It's particularly bad to lose both your starting and primary backup QBs. Ouch! Anyway, I prefer Leinart go to an NFC team, but the Jets would certainly be preferable to anyone in our division!

LesterLyles
Thx for the kind words guys. Just found out Fiedler out for the year as well. Unfriggin believable! You are right, even if the Bengals win, it won't be the same. Not even close to be honest (I have an unhealthy passion for ganggreen, lol). But given the last 15 years and the good football fans that are there, this will really be exciting (like last years Monday night but on a bigger scale). Very excited for my wife's family who are season ticket holders. Bengals nation deserves a playoff run!
derekshank
Well, obviously the Redskins don't want to trade Ramsey with Brunell at the helm. The Titans have one of the most injury prone QB's in teh league in McNair, so I understand them not wanting to trade Volek. The Kitna thing would make the most sense for them, he's the best of the three, and depending on how he feels about being a backup for the rest of his career, this could be his last year here.I doubt the Bengals will part with him though, because if Palmer would go down for even a couple of games, we would be stuck with Krenzel, and that's a worse situation than Bolinger...Also, the needs the Bengals have, Safety and DT, the Jets have no wiggle room in, so they are not likely to give us anything of value for this year. Just draft picks. If it's not broke, don't fix it. I feel sorry for Pennington and the Jets, but Kitna is ours for now. We should try to keep winning now since we're hot. MacD BengalFan
Talk about a team that went from playoff contenders to just hoping to finish 8-8, the Jets are it. How much more punishment can the team take losing both QB's within a few weeks. That is harsh. Hang in there Lester. Keep up your support of your wife's beloved Bengals and I am sure you will be rewarded generously.
