The_Next_Big_Thing
Trey Wingo and Eric Allen agree. They LOVE THE BENGALS DEFENSE!
The_Next_Big_Thing
"They can't keep this pace of 16 turnovers in 3 games up, " Trey Wingo"Why not, they are that good!" interrupts Eric Allen.Mike Ditka credits good safety play by KK and Madieu as the reason our corners are all having such success.Ditka - They have all the weapons on offense. Wingo - Say what you want about who they've played, this defense is good. They shut down the vikes, and the only team in the league to allow fewer points so far this year is Indy (segue to freaking talking good about the Colts). Stripes
It's great to see the defense getting some credit for what it has done so far. They're on a record setting pace, and to hear the ESPN guys give them props feels damn good.
HoosierCat
OTOH, those looking for doubters can still find them..take Shannon Sharpe on nfl.com, who grudgingly allows that the bengals are for real, but wants to see them "play a close game" before granting them his seal of approval.Guess ya missed that game in Baltimore last year, eh, Shannon? Idiot.Meanwhile...we're undefeated for September. Bring on October!
membengal
Memo to Shannon Sharpe:We are sorry, we did not get the memo we had to prove ourselves by giving teams a chance to steal wins late.Signed,The 2005 Bengals
turningpoint
I AGREE totally with shannon sharpe I want to see us play a close game, see how our team can take on pressure and anxiety. Wins like that truely build character and do show us in better limelight being a team that wins close games vs good oppenents, cause these teams would probably be considered good oppenents if we weren't dominating them. The_Next_Big_Thing
I AGREE totally with shannon sharpe I want to see us play a close game, see how our team can take on pressure and anxiety. Not me. I want to see us continue to get up on teams early, beat them soundly, and win games. I want to see teams walking away from the games dejected, unable to get anything done against us. When we go up against Pittsburgh, Indy, etc. and do the same thing, then the idiots who weren't smart enough to jump on the bandwagon when Marvin pulled it into town in the first place will have no choice but to shut up and say gee, I should have believed! derekshank
Yes, among the doubters is John Clayton (i.e. the professor). He was big on the Bengals this off-season, but last night on the radio, he said our victory over the Bears was "okay". So, everyone is talking all week long about the Bears defense and running game, and how this will be our first true test. We go out there and mop the floor with them, and the conclusion is "Well, the Bears are not very good. The Bengals haven't been tested yet."Fine. Let's say that the teams we have beat are really just that bad. Can we take into account that the Bengals are beating these teams with the largest margin of victory in the entire NFL? We are scoring 20 more points than we are giving up. A +20 point differential? That's ridiculous. Give credit where it's due.On the positive side... Ditka has us ranked at #2 in his power rankings. RedsFan75
And if those teams are 'that bad' why did the Vikes annilate their opponent, this week, and Cleveland held Indy to 13 and took apart Green Bay, and Chicago was 'good' until this week? Face the Bengals will get no respect until they pull a Patriots and win a couple Superbowls.

bengalindian
Yeah. All of a sudden, the crappy Vikings are good, and Culpepper returned to form, but they sucked when they played the Bengals. And the Bears put up 38 points last week against a semi-decent Detroit team. Everybody last week was all, "The Bears could win this division at 8-8" but this week it's they're not that good and don't have an offense. Whatever. Let them find excuses. They'll bite every word. I LOVE THESE SMILIES.
ArmyBengal
How is it at the beginning of the season, people on this forum were stating how much they wanted to see the Bengals start out fast and really put it on teams, but now they want to see close games to make them a worthy team ?? How is it when team do well, they are going to the playoffs, but after getting their asses handed to them by the Bengals, they were never that good ?? Whatever happened to a "W" is a "W" ?? People just need to relax, be happy we are where we wanted to be at 3-0 at this point, and realize by having a lighter schedule up front does nothing but give our younger players more time to learn not only the pace of the game, but the schemes as well. Remember how Carson came on later last year ?? Think about how much stronger our D will be as we progress... Would you have rather had P-Burg, Indy, and Baltimore as our first three and start out 1-2 ?? I think that would have only put us back in the same hole that we have become accustomed to. Jesus people, just be happy and see what we do to the Texans this weekend... WHODEY !!!

I can't find them, and would be interested in checking them out. Thanks if ya can get it. Sorry, I didn't read it on the internet. I saw the last few minutes of the show "Monday Quarterback" and he had them ranked #2 after the Colts. I think Allen had them #4. Ditka is turning into a real Bengals homer though. He's always talked out against showboating, but he says he loves the way Chad does it. I heard him on the radio the other night say he's never seen anything like what Chad is doing right now. "He calls opposing CB's out by name, and then beats them." It was beyond him how talented CJ is. It's nice to get some love from Ditka. I like him. kingwilly
You are right. Ditka does not go tossing around comliments very easily. In fact, he rarely has much good to say about anyone.
