kingwilly
The intro on ESPn starts with "Two Championship caliber teams...", and ends with a severe rout of Baltimore in their own house. I saw only one team of "Championship caliber" out there. What a happy moment. The Ratbirds looked like hell and I'm glad. Ogden looked slow and old, J. Lewis went for fiddlestix and Boller looked like Akili out there, finally going down in a painful sack. Their D seems off and Indy just worked them. Peyton is a pure stud. Indy's D looked downright good. What it means to us Bengals fans: The Ravens are a bad team we should beat twice. Indy has everything from last year PLUS a D.F Baltimore. Stripes
I've thought the Ravens to be overrated for a while. I don't think the new additions on offense will make any difference with Kyle Boller or Anthony Wright throwing them the ball. The Colts exposed some weaknesses of the 46 defense, with Marvin Harrison getting open deep multiple times, as well as Reggie Wayne. Our offense matches up well with their defense (if that's possible), and I'm confident we'd see positive results.
The_Next_Big_Thing
I'm more worried about the Ravens getting it together with Anthony Wright at QB than I was Kyle "Don't Boo Me" Boller.BOOOOOOller sucks, but at least Wright won't LOSE games for them. LABengalsFan09
Boller injured = better team....what a bummer...Where was Chester Taylor? I don't remember seeing him once? But let's reserve some of these judgements for a while, they were playing "the Colts, allow to say that one more time. The IndianAPOlis Colts." Man I hate Billick....Oh yeah I almost forgot, hey Boller! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :player: :player: :player: :player: :player:
skyline
I didn't think Boller was overly terrible last night.
BengalszoneBilly
Indy has everything from last year PLUS a D. I might hold off on that statement until they play an offense a little higher quality than the Boller led Ravens. I thought Wright was more effective, so here's to hoping Boller a has quick recovery! schweinhart
Obviously too early to say the rout is a knife in the heart of the Ratbird season. But it'll make some heads get scratched.Manning took a while to get adjusted to the Ratbird D scheme but once he did, he looked great. That tape will be textbook on how to break their scheme, but 24 points could be about as many as any team scores on them all year.Even as bad as the Ratbird offense looks right now, it's pretty apparent that the Colts have found themselves a defense. Corey Simon is a huge upgrade for them up front.

Stripes
The Colts defense is pretty similar that of the Bengals, with a better defensive line and lesser linebackers. I think they'll still struggle versus the run, but the pass defense should improve some. They also get a lot of takeaways.

Except Cincy. We'll ring up more points on that over-rated dafense. Palmer has got their number! (He's also got Clevelands number, Denvers number,... ) Damn! We might have to chip in and buy that boy a bigger NFL teams address/phone book. He's filling the one he's presently got pretty rapidly! CBin2k7
I agree, I think the Bengals are similar to the Colts in that they match up very well against Baltimore's D. You have got to have the ability to spread them out with 4 quality WR's who can catch the ball and use your RB's effectively in the pass game. If you can get them in the nickel and dime packages, that D is not as effective. Ed Reed makes a lot of plays but he takes some chances that can be exploited, Demps is a liabilty in coverage, Deion and Dale Carter are not what they used to be. If Carson doesn't throw the ball away the Bengals will beat Baltimore 2 times this year.

jbx182
i still think the ratbird defense will only give up 12-14 ppg this year. a few fluke offensive scores and b-more will win plenty of games. remember, the colts sport the best off in the league. a lesser team will turn the ball over a few times and keep the birds in it. Don't you remember the Chiefs going into Baltimore last season on a Sunday night game, in front of the whole NFL nation of fans, with Ray Lewis screaming into the camera "NOT IN OUR HOUSE BABY!! NO WAY. UH-UH! NOT TONIGHT, NOT EVER!!!" only to have Kansas City run roughshod over them all night long!?! It wasn't even close, but their defense is still great!! My ass. People have been blowing that smoke up their ass so long that other teams simply mentally accept it and lose because of it. Palmer shook that message of s**t outta his gourd in the second half of last seasons finale with them in Baltimore. I doubt he permit it to by his leave a second time. They don't suck defensively, but the cracks are beginning to show. Also this ain't 2000 anymore. They're years older and steps slower. If their performance Sunday was as good as they got, in their park, in the televised season opener no less...then what's left to rally around?Oh. Kyle. I forgot! Break out the rally monkeys and let the spanking begin!

Don't think the Jagwires will count But if the Colts D do hold them to, say, 14 pts this week, it'll only boost their confidence. Simon will have another week to improve his conditioning and Mike Doss should be back. How their D does should have a substantial impact on the AFC, obviously. If the Colts got a D, they way up their shot at the Super Bowl. That's what the Corey Simon signing was all about, after all.

Damn, Mr. Broome, your sig just poked me in the eye The Bengals definitely got the guns to shoot it out w/ the Ratbirds D. The variable this year is the 46 D that the Ravens showed a lot vs. Colts. It effed w/ Peyton's head, which was a big contributor to the low 1st half pt output by the Colts. The Ratbird multiple looks and free for all to the QB will have some teams moving backwards on offense, but the Bengals do have the options to beat it if they draw it up right. Sportsdoc
Kyke Boller is and will continue to be a bust. He is neither accurate, nor has good intangibles, and together those are fatal flaws as a QB. We can hope we see him and not A Wright.
