Humanzee 5000 Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 Man, I'm reading some of these posts and it's almost like people have completely forgot that we won our first game of the season and that that f**kin rools. Yeah yeah, we're not perfect, nor is any team in the NFL.I chalk it up to still being a little worried. Patriot fans don't pick apart their games as much because they won a superbowl and everyone is predicting a 3rd.I just hope everyone's enjoying a great day after a great win! Quote
ArmyBengal Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 Agree, chill out people, at least we started off against the Browns and gave our team a warm up... Can't complain about an opening day win on the road, regardless of who you play !!! The Browns usually play us tough and who here wants to complain about a division win ?? 1-0 for the season and in our Division !!!WHO-F**KING-DEY !!!P.S. I would like to encourage everyone to visit the General Discussion forum and look over the topic of Toilet Paper. I guarantee a good read !!! Quote

The_Next_Big_Thing Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 I don't think ANYONE is freaking out, just trying to take the win with a grain of salt. Yes, we beat Cleveland. WE SHOULD BEAT CLEVELAND.Next week is a real test. Quote

WE SHOULD BEAT CLEVELAND.Next week is a real test. Yes, Denver beat MIAMI. They SHOULD beat MIAMI.Yes, St. Louis beat SAN FRANCISCO. They SHOULD beat SAN FRANCISCO.What's that? What? Those two teams did NOT win road games to open the NFL season over perceived inferior opponents? What? For f**kssake people, any road win is a good win. Any road win to open the season is just a little better, especially considering how jacked up the hosts are. Any road win over a division opponent to start a season is even that much better. Quote
HoosierCat Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 The bottom line:AFCN standings after Week 1:CINCINNATI BENGALS 1-0 (1-0 DIVISION)Pittsburgh Steelers 1-0 (0-0 division)Baltimore Ravens 0-1 (0-0 division)Cleveland Browns 0-1 (0-1 division):player: Quote
kingwilly Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 Besides us winning today and being 1-0, key to Joisey's post is this:Baltimore Ravens 0-1 (0-0 division)They looked like really really bad team.. boller looked like Akili...BAD. Ogden was beat early and often and J. Lewis ran like he was still a bit sore from his "friends" in cell block D. Even Ray Ray seemed to disappear. How's that 4-6 working for you?Baltimore will not win 6 games. Quote
Stripes Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 Baltimore will not win 6 games. Woah! That's quite a bold prediction, though I must disagree. That defense can win games on pure talent. The offense should be able to keep them in it. I think they'll at least make it to 8-8. Quote
HairOnFire Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 You'll get used to it.Muthaf**ker's spaz out on the regular around here. I think we've become a fugtarded fan base. Seriously, over a decade of constant losing has taught us to belittle whatever success the team has so we won't be let down the following week, many of us obsess over stats because that used to be the only fun we could have, and every good player the Bengals have seems to have a couple of fans lobbying for the role of official designated player hater. It's no longer a matter of want. It's become a matter of pure need. We need to sniff the playoffs again. Quote
walzav29 Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 I'm relieved, but I was definitely spooked. WHen your favorite team has a winning record, it makes every game better. I was watching the Colt's rooting for them because the Ravens are in their division. This was quite a start. I wish the Vikings won though, they will fight hard to not go 0-2. If we win next week. Watch out. We're on a Steeler collision course. Quote

It's no longer a matter of want. It's become a matter of pure need. We need to sniff the playoffs again. Could not agree more. Here are a few of my thoughts that are lingering as I observe the collective panty-bunching of the fans of a team that won by two touchdowns on the road...1. 10-10, Cleveland with all the momentum, crowd in full roar, Bengals backed up, a three and out would give the Browns the ball and time to score again before halftime, and what does Carson Palmer do? He leads the team on a 90-yard TD drive to stick an initial dagger into Cleveland's hopes. Huge drive. Two smart first downs for breathing room, then the huge 2nd and 25 completion to Houshmanzadah. Really REALLY good offenses have drives like that. Huge.2. 17-10, looking to put foot on throat, and Palmer checks out of a run into the pass to J. Johnson that put the Bengals up two TDs. That was a hugely veteran move from a quarterback that gave us a LOT to get excited about yesterday. Yes, the INT in the endzone was particularly dumb, but it was nowhere near a killer. In fact, it was a wonderful opportunity to learn. Palmer's numbers were spectacular, and provide a window into just how magnificently he managed that game. Outstanding.3. Palmer's confidence and development at qb means that every receiver on every pattern is a danger for opposing defenses. Look no further than Indy for what happens when a qb and an offense make that kind of leap.4. The D was outstanding yesterday. There are a lot of people moaning over the pass D, but, from watching it, Dilfer was completing short passes to guys pretty covered. The Bengals then did, by and large, a nice job dropping Browns players with vicious authoritative hits at the first opportunity. Yes, there is plenty to work on, but there is no need to respond to a solid win on the road (again, check with the distraught fans in Denver and St. Louis for the alternative) by acting like a dog who is kicked every chance it gets.Good win. 1-0. 1-0 in the division. With ease. Good to see. Quote
