oldschooler Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 It wasn`t Tomlinson, Dillon, Alexander, Bettis or James...It was none other than Rudi Jonhson ! No player broke more tackles last season than Johnson, who had 54, or had more yards after contact than Johnson's 860. http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=14973Rudi is a machine ! And doesn`t get the love he deserves !So let`s hear how he sucks and all of the other BS now.
jditty47 Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 A. alot of carriesB. he should have tripled thatC. i hope he breaks everything he did last year this year, then ill give him props.D. lets go perry!E. yes im gonna root for rudi but i will cus at the tv when he does one of his pattented runs where he thinks hes elusive and gets hit behind the line for a 4 yard loss.
Wraith Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 Are you talking about Rudi or Dillon, Dillon was the one who always seemed to dance at the line of scrimmage. Rudi IMHO hits the hole hard on virtually every run.
redsfan2 Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 I like Rudi ... and I have to admit that I wouldn't have guessed him as the answer to that question.
alense Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 It's hard to say anything bad about this guy when you look at his work ethic. It seems like every time I see him on the sidelines he is on the bike keeping those legs warm. He earned his new contract with last year's performance and I'm glad he's our #1 guy.
Stripes Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 He'll be even better with Perry backing him up. If Perry can have consistent succes and stay healthy, then Rudi may be in for a huge year. His yards per carry are bounds to go up. Won't it be great to have slightly lesser versions of Corey Dillon and Brian Westbrook on the same team? This offense has the potential to be absolutely nuts. AUGH is it Sunday yet?!?!?!

His O-Line was banged up.And he still lead the NFL in broken tackles and yardsafter contact...
alense Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 Good stats oldschooler. It makes me feel even better about our guy.
jditty47 Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 he has some great stats but he also has some bad tendencies he needs to get rid of to become a great back is all im sayin...

walshfan Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 Rudi Johnson is one of the better running backs in the league....How can you discount over 1400 yards and a 4.0 average??Is he elusive ? no ...does he have great hands? no...does he wear down an opponent? yes ( he averages 5.5 yrds a pop in the fourth quarter).. He's no Tomlinson or Alexander but he is still a fine back and with the addition of Perry the tandem will be one of the best in the NFL imo....
kingwilly Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 I agree that Rudi's tendency to stutter and lose yards can be annoying. Sounds like a coaching problem, though. My only concern is that all the contact and need to break tackles will eventually wear down the rudi. At least Perry is healthy now and can prolong the time that rudi can be effective.
John Stofa Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 E. yes im gonna root for rudi but i will cus at the tv when he does one of his pattented runs where he thinks hes elusive and gets hit behind the line for a 4 yard loss. When Rudi gets hit 4 yards behind the line of scrimmage it's because the OL broke down and there was a defender or two in the backfield the moment the ball was handed off. You can't blame the running back in that situation.
redsfan2 Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 he has some great stats but he also has some bad tendencies he needs to get rid of to become a great back is all im sayin... Guys ( like you ) that have been around for a while have heard me say this before ...but here goes again. It clicked when you said bad tendencies. He ( Rudi ) drives me right up a wall when he runs to where the hole is Supposed to be and then stands there running in place till somebody tackles him. If the hole is there ... fine he pops through it ( pretty fast at that ) and gains yards ....... But when its not ..... it doesn't seem to register and he stands there like he's waiting for an elevator. For Gods Sake do ...... something ....... cut back ... go the other way ...... anything. I'm done now.

And actually it was 181 yards...but Rudi didn`thave a 2 time Super Bowl MVP as his QB and he also wasn`t playing on a team that was as good asthe one Dillon was playing on...Oh and I guess you`ll take those MORE fumbles with less carries too...
walshfan Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 I hope this isn't the start of a pissing match between Rudi and Cory lovers.. haven't we just about exhausted that debate???Cory isn't a Bengal anymore ... Rudi is our featured back.....I don't care if Cory rushed for 1500 yards this year.. he's not on our team!!!!As for Rudi and his deficientcies.. yeah he's got some....If he didn't he would rush for 2000 yards now wouldn't he... Ill settle for a back that can gain 1400 without complaining too much..

John Stofa Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 I've only been on the internet a couple months, but that's long enough to know that DPM just plain doesn't like Rudi Johnson. And I guess he's not the only one. Well, I just don't get it. In less than two seasons as a starter he has run for almost 2500 yards. He almost reached 1000 yards as a part-time starter, then set the franchise single season rushing record in his first year as a fulltime starter. When we were three or four games into the 2003 season and Rudi had yet to start a game in the NFL, who would have guessed from that point he'd pile up almost 2500 career rushing yards by the end of the 2004 season? NO ONE, that's who. He made us forget about Corey Dillon before Corey had even left. I just don't get the Rudi critics. I love Chris Perry too, but why does it have to be one or the other? Why can't we just wish for a two-headed beast in the backfield? That's the way I'm thinking.
