TippCityRick Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 He's not a big enough red zone target. Also, while he blocks DBs very well downfield, I don't like his chances against a DE or LB when he's giving up 50-100 lbs - he only weighs 218. Not going to happen. He'd get killed.A reverse pancake waiting to happen!! Quote
Jonboat Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 As Bobcat mentioned, I think CH will start if KW hasn't practiced. He wont play even if he has looked good in the preseason & is healthy. CH has been just as impressive. I don't think ML will change his no practice/no play rule for one player, I don't think it would send a good message to the other players. I think the CH pushing KW has been great it looked to me KW stepped up his game during the preseason now we'll see what happens when the lights come on! I really like Walter but when Washingtons healthy he's #5. I think we'll see him in 4 receiver sets & probably on some 3rd downs this week but when Washington is healthy I think we'll just see him on some 3rd downs & maybe give somebody a rest for a play or 2. GO BENGALS!!! Jonboat Quote

Wraith Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 It looks like Chad has taken C. Henry under his wing, I saw the two of them together at Kenwood Mall last Saturday, it looks like they were both shopping at Macy's. If Chris catches Chad's work ethic and love of the game then I think he will be a starter soon (situations depending whether a slot receiver or another deep threat gets called "starter") Quote

Don't think for a moment Mike Brown doesn't see what he is doing off the field to help his team get better. Quote

The money we didn't throw at Corey Simon will be perfect to give Chad some extra money that he deserves. Hopefully we can pay Willie as well.Chad has been doing everything this offseason to get the Bengals more publicity, and all of that, along with his obvious talent, should not go unnoticed. Quote
bengalbutch Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 The same was said of Kelly Washington, and he hasn't panned out as of yet. I love Henry's potential, but I want to see him get plenty of play time to prove it. He's going to have to flash some pretty good hands and show excellent route running to ever snag that number 2 spot. You can't compare Chris to Kelley. Henry is a freak of nature, who can't show his stuff from the sidelines. I don't remember Randy Moss having to much trouble as a rookie 69 catches 1313 yds and 17 tds. Henry has the same kind of talent. Quote
bengalbutch Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 That's the advantage he has over Henry right now cuz Henry's still a bit shy when it comes to knockin' headsWhat are you talking about ? He has been one of the biggest hitters all preseason. Did you not read the stories from Georgetown ? Quote
Number88 Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 Henry has a ton of physical ability. But I already saw him mouthing the Colts bench when we were drubbing their second team.I think Marvin will get him under control, but remember his history before you get too excited. On the other hand, if he can get his head on straight, what a package! The man is fast, he's big, he has hands. Oops. I'm going against my own advice. Quote

BengalPappaw Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 I don't know why I continue to be surprised by the culture and cleverness of the folks on Bengalszone. Thanks folks for the entertainment! Quote

Reverse pancake with marble turnips on top .....I'm thinking Walter thought he was at the Waffle House counter on a 3 a.m. after Kelvin Hayden about knocked his head off over the middle vs. Indy.Poor fella's chin strap was up over his mouth like a dust mask and his helmet all askew on his head as they walked him off the field.No. Walter will not play TE and will have a hard time playing any slot if he can't cover himself over the middle better. About as big of an improvement as Housh had last year over 2002 was how to not only brace himself for the hit over the middle but to actually dish it out in the process like he did last week when Marlin Jackson more or less bounced off him on the hit. (and Marlin had tatooed some folks this pre-season).Alas, the downside of cutting P-Dub is his ability out of the slot, but Henry looks like he'll be on the 45-man active roster and should get snaps w/ Housh in the slot and if K-Dub is out vs. Clowns (would be a good time for Henry to get them). walshfan Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 maybe i missed something but saying Kevin Walter is not big enough in the redzone seems absurd to me.. the man is 6'3 and weighs around 220...How can that not be what a team dreams about in the redzone??? Quote

He's certainly big enough to play WR in the redzone, and can block DB well... LB's and DE's... no chance. Quote

That's tiny for a TE, which is what was being suggested. As someone mentioned, he got laid out during the Colts game - and a TE needs to be able to hold onto a ball in the end zone after getting licked by a LB. He would need to put on 30-40 lbs to play TE. TippCityRick Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 bengalbutch Posted on Sep 7 2005, 05:45 PM That's the advantage he has over Henry right now cuz Henry's still a bit shy when it comes to knockin' headsWhat are you talking about ? He has been one of the biggest hitters all preseason. Did you not read the stories from Georgetown ? All I know is what I saw in preseason. He was constantly running behind his blocking assignment cuz he'd missed it. Not unusual for a rookie. Remember it was a couple of years before Warrick got it and Chad still doesn't have it. The reports from Georgetown not withstanding, I need to see him get in the way of the outside LB on the power right play we run so effectively before I know he can knock heads.they were talking about him being big enough to play TE. He's certainly big enough to play WR in the redzone, and can block DB well... LB's and DE's... no chance.I disagree on the LB front. Will he knock them on their asses, no. But he will get in the way and disrupt their pursuit. That's all you can ask from any wr in the running game. Quote

Stripes Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 I love how our expectations have so quickly hit the sky for a third round draft pick rookie. Our 2005 draft is shaping up to be incredible! How often does a wideout picked in the third round even come close to getting on the field so quickly? Especially with all the other talented receivers he'd have to beat out?I love it! :player: Quote
walshfan Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 I would agree that Henry would see limited duty if KDub was healthy but this seems to be a case of "here's your opportunity"....I think Carson will focus on CJ and TJ exclusively with Perry and Schobel getting some touches ...Henry could be the hidden factor on some playes on third and long or redzone... In any case the kid has got to feel good about the chance he may recieve againsst the Browns... Quote
JPW Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 Is Kevin Walter back to being %100 healthy ? Quote
KiLBurn Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 Walter was not listed on the injury report. I am guessing that means he is recovered.BTW, It would not bother me, in the least, to see Henry opposite of CJ. Can't double team both these guys at once.Edited: Forgot the all important not. Quote
