I wasn't thrilled with our preseason performance, but that doesn't change my regular season prediction. I said 9-7 before the preseason games and I'm sticking with that.

9-7 overall, 3-3 division ... which would put us in the playoffs in the NFC, but in the AFC ... who knows.

And Week #1 @ Cleveland is a MUST win game.

9 or 10, but still miss the playoffs due to a tie-breaker (better win @ jax!)

we start at 5-5 but we get hot down the stretch win our last 6 games

win our first playoff game then we get knocked out

Yikes, I hope not. I'd rather have a fast start with a slow finish to get me a playoff birth. But then again, I don't get to pick do I? ^_^

No, no. Fast start, sluggish middle games, pick it back up carrying momentum into the playoffs. Ol'mo has a lot to do with how far you go in the playoffs. If you have a win streak of 3-4 games going into the playoffs, this can carry you to the Super Bowl. If you struggle during those same games, 1-3 or 2-2, you may find yourself watching the playoffs from home. Must finish fast as well as start fast. ;)

I just cant see a wild card in our divsion it sucks but its true. We have to win the north this year or not make it.

I think the AFC East gets 1 wild card and 1 more is up for grabs. I'd give it to Pitt or Baltimore right now.

9-7, no playoffs but first winning season since 1990.

Odell and Chenry voted to all rookie teams.

The Bengals are so close to getting it hitting on all cylinders that if they finish the year at 7-9 as opposed to say 11-5 the difference could be as small as 20 or so points. I think 11-5 is very possible B)

hmmm... going into the playoffs hot running on all clyinders or going into the playoffa cold and struggling i wonder what i would rather have

this one is a real brain teaser

Well yeah sure, but the teams that get to the playoffs on the strength of playing mediocre football until getting hot in December rarely go deep into the playoffs. I'd rather have the good period come early, just to solidify the playoff spot. A good team wouldn't let a slow finish affect it's performance in a playoff game.

This is a valid point, sir. Usually, if you're fighting for a spot in the playoffs all throughout December, that means that usually your team will run out of gas. Hence, usually a team that is able to play the last game (or two) without playing their first stringers has the advantage, hands down.

For example, when was the last time a wild card team won the Super Bowl??

2000 Baltimore Ravens. I think.

I had been thinking 10-6 most of the off-season, so I guess I will stick with that.

I will feel a lot better about that if they can get off 1-0 though...
