bengalskyspy Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Has anyone seen or heard of other teams' cuts that might create some players that could help us? Quote
walshfan Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 I think Robert McCune LB Louisville cut by Washington might be worth taking a look at .. Quote
JPW Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Maybe a pass catching TE like Trent Smith from the Ravens or Paul Irons from the Browns ?Then again probably not, Marvin Lewis is reportedly very happy with what we already have.I just hope that he is right ... Quote
Stripes Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Shazor. Shazor is available?! Well great, I hope we grab him. Doubt it'll happen, but I'd love that pickup Quote
JPW Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 I think Robert McCune LB Louisville cut by Washington might be worth taking a look at ..Robert McCune was cut ?Liked him a lot in the draft, he is like 250 and ran about a 4.5 and looks like a freaking beast, but he is 26 years old and has played very little Football because of the time he spent in the Army.........................................>By the way Andre Frazier the LB from UC was also cut by Pittsburgh today. JPW Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Shazor.Yea, Shazor and Anttaj Hawthorne, both whom were at one time projected to be 1st round picks, not only went undrafted but now have been cut, by the teams that signed them as UFAs. Quote

Raiders picked Hawthorne in the 6th. I suspect they'll try to re-sign him to their PS if he clears. Don't see us picking him up. Quote

kurgan74 Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Rodney Bailey could fill in nicely for Clemons. Anttaj Hawthorne would also be worth a look. I am still a little nervous about the run D. Quote

AMC Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 the question is are any of them an upgrade??? if we pick anyone up WE gotta cut somebody to make room.... Quote
AMC Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 quite a few ex-Bengals being cut by other teams, including Tony Williams by JAX. that's too bad there...the only one i see on the list was TE Teyo Johnson was released by OAK....he may be worth a look at upgrade.... Quote
BlainThePain Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Attiyah Ellison was a 3rd round pick this year. I would definantly like to see us pick him up. Quote
schweinhart Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Attiyah Ellison was a 3rd round pick this year. I would definantly like to see us pick him up. Ellison in a hearbeat. But I doubt he he's still available when the Bengals can claim. He looked like he was set for the DT rotation at Carolina.McCune would be a good fit at SSLB. But he's already like 26 yrs old and has recurring ligament problems in one of his knees.Other than those 2, maybe Wesley Britt at LT. Levi looked like he's got a knee issue. Steinbach looked decent at LT vs. Colts and Stacy the Giant could proly do it, though.TE wise, maybe Sean Berton or Will Heller, but not likely. Quote
Dadraftnick Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 up for thFirst or all I was shocked that the Bengals cut Elvis Patterson I thought he had a good pre season but so did Fanene.I hope we pick hime taxi squad. Two vets stand out Hugh Douglas and John Parella both can still play but I doubt Marvin would use a roster spot on someone with a few years left to play. DT-Anttaj Hawthorne -I wanted the Bengals to draft him some experts had him going in the 1st round before he tested positive for Marry Jane best year had 75 tkls 20 tkles for loss 6 sacks 6-4 321 5.27 40yrd dash S-Hamza Abdullah-rated the # 6 SS has played both S positions 70 tkls 8 pass pass break ups 1 sack DE-Issac Hilton-6-4 267 4.59 very strong did 31 reps of 225 at the combine best season 78 tkls 31 tkls for loss 13 sacks.18 qb hurrieshas blocked a kick. schweinhart Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 Ellison and McCune both cleared waivers and were signed to their teams practice squad. Some TEs got gobbled up:Trent Smith -49ersSean Berton-GiantsWill Heller-Fins Quote
volcom69 Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 Everybody talks about a big run stuffer how about Gilbert Brown hes not on a team and hes a big guy to put in the middle. He could spilt time with Thorton on running downs. Quote
HoosierCat Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 L'il aside from Hobson today...One they just brought in to work out is defensive tackle Cletidus Hunt, a six-year veteran cut by the Packers, but the club made no announcement of signings Monday. Quote
