I say sign him for 3-5 million...we need a veteran force on the D-line...think how it might open up our ends...I can tell you that Jumpy would probably be happy.

John Riggins and Adam Shine on Sirius talked with his agent for about 30 minutes today. He said that Indy, Seattle and Cincy were the top three leaders in the Simon sweepstakes. He said they should have a eal done by Tuesday.

Bring on Corey, we've got the cap space!

I don't think we have the room to sign him. Remeber we still have to account for inccentives this year and Palmer's incentives could sky rocket. Remember he turned down 5 million a year to play for the Ravens so its going to take at least 5.5 million a year and that isnt worth it. I do think that someone will cough up that much money for him too. I would be extremely shocked if we signed him. I think you guys should be prepared to see him in an orange jump suit. . . . uh I mean in black and purple because I think he got his best offer from the Ravens and I don't think we will beat it.

The Ravens don't sign Simon for anything near 5.5 mill. He'll be lucky to sign anything with them around 4-4.5 with lots of backloaded money he may never see. Could still happen, but right now the Ravens are playing the waiting game.

Heard in the Ravens front office "and now we play the waiting game................ah, screw this, let's play Hungry Hungry Hippoes!"

For non Simpsons fans this makes no sense.

$10 mill SB and $15 salary over 5 yrs. Cap wise in 2005 it'd be about $4.5 mill.

If they have to top the Ratbirds above $5 mill per year, sweeten it.

The cap space is reported at over $6 mill and more space can be gleaned by cutting Reggie Kelly and a few RFAs. They could even keep Thornton and still sign Simon.

Do it. Play to win.

Per Schefter on nfl.com the Ravens have already thrown in the towel and admitted they can't afford his asking price...FWIW...

The Colts' interest is intriguing on many fronts. Indianapolis head coach Tony Dungy would be able to deploy Simon in much the same way he used Warren Sapp in Tampa Bay. But the question becomes whether the cap-strapped Colts can afford Simon, who rejected a $12 million signing bonus from the Ravens during the offseason.

Simon is seeking enough money that the Ravens, who once really wanted Simon, admitted they will be unable to pay him what he wants now. And so Simon, who was released by the team, is seeking the best offer and best situation before deciding where to play.
