Warrick or Washington?

Before training camp started, they hype was that Kelly Washington had not lived up to his potential and he was as good as gone. Now, he is starting to show some flashes of what he can do. If Warrick can not go physically to a point where he is the glimpse of a 2003 Warrick, then how do you release Washington and keep Warrick. I can not see them carrying both so who stays? I hate to say it but it is all about "what have you done for me lately" and P-Dub is struggling to get back on the horse. I guess it is a nice problem to have.

I'd tweak the system and find a way to cut Kevin Walter. No kidding, I'd keep Washington and half of Peter Warrick over that guy.

i agree, even though he's had a good preseason i'm not convinced that he could contribute that much on a regular basis during the season.

no matter what i trust that marvin will make the right decision.

IN MARVIN WE TRUST! :player:

to each his won but to let Walter go and keep an inconsistent receiver ( Washington) and a player that's probably seen his better days ( Warrick ) would be insane....are you insane Hair on Fire? Are they coming to take you away aha?

what the hell has walter done besides have a few good PRESEASON games?

washington may have been a letdown thus far but i think he will contribute a lot this year.

warrick's a gamebreaker if he's healthy.

nice to see someone who hasn't startin swingin from walter's nuts all of a sudden. all assuming warrick's healthy, he is a playmaker, kelley washington has a lot of upside, and walter is a special teamer that made a sweet TD catch in a preseason game over non-starters. he hasn't done near enough to warrant p.t. over washington or warrick. he's a good special teamer and should only make the team if broussard, t. perry or russell dissappoints.

between warrick or washington, i'd take a healthy warrick.

Why would the Bengals ever be faced with this choice this year? Why?

If anyone would rather have Broussard or Russell over Warrick or Washington, they're smoking crack. Warrick's going to be healthy eventually in all likelihood, I don't care if it's next week or week 4 during the season. There's 16 games to play.

Walters has already made the roster IMO, and if he keeps catching everything thrown his way and making tough catches, he'll see time on Sundays again too.

I would have to go with Warrick getting cut. Washington has really impressed me over spring ball, and what Ive seen so far in preseason. That catch he made in the Washington game was just downright wicked. Walter has shown a lot this preseason. He has soft hands, and does a good job at catching the ball in traffic. Not only that, but he offers an extra hand in special teams.

I am afraid to say Warrick probably isnt going to see enuf playing time to make the team.  It's not about "if he is healthy" because he isnt.

Doesnt it seem odd how hes already down with another injury? The man hasnt really played in a year, he goes in for a couple of snaps and goes down again? Not to mention how hesitant the team was to let him play...

I don't really like Washington (I don't hate him though) and I love PDub, but I don't see PDub ever coming back to 100% plus he is in the last year of his contract and Washington still has potential and is good for the occassional TD grab so I would have to go with Washington. If we cut PDub I will still root for him no matter what team he is on and I would love to see him finally play to his potential and make the probowl. If we cut him I hope he lands with the Eagles because they wont be battling us for a playoff spot, he would play for a great team with a great QB, and it would hurt Owens.

Is there even a chance at this point that Washington gets cut? Warrick, maybe. I'd say they'll keep warrick or russell for kick returns, but maybe not both.

CJ, Houshmandzedah, Washington and Henry are locks I'd say. If Warrick makes the team then pick one of Russell, Walter, and Tab assuming Marvin does keep only 6. If Warrick gets cut, then Russell makes the team and it's down to Walter vs. Tab. If that happens, then Tab gets PS and Walter makes the team.

I have to echo others, Walter seems like a great guy but every year somebody lights up the third-stringers in preseason, this is his year for it. Do not be fooled!

Can we practice-squad him? I know they want to PS Perry too if they can, don't know if they want 2/8 spots to be receivers.

Warrick has to go. He can't play, and if his knee, as Lapham stated a year ago this time, is indeed degenerative, he's DONE.

Some nutjob asked what Walter has done to make the squad other than play really well against backups. I ask what has Pdub done, other than ride a bike and sit in a hot tub?

Walter makes the team because of his special teams play. And because he is a solid backup who provided depth, but mostly plays special teams.

As for Washington, he sticks because MOST wide receivers take 3 years to develop. It's his year.

Warrick is a veteran, you know what he can do when healthy. It's up for the team to decide if he's healthy enough. If so, keep him. If not, punt him.

The Bengals have too many good WRs to keep around some guy who's OK against 3rd teamers and contributes some on special teams. He doesn't have the ability to toast anybody. I don't think the decision about Warrick comes down to how good Walter is, because IF (big if, I realize) he's healthy, Warrick is much better than Walter. The Warrick decision comes down to Warrick.

So if the Bengals keep Warrick, you get to decide between Cliff Russell, Tab Perry, and Walter, pick 1. If they get rid of Warrick, you get to pick 2, but one of them probably needs to be Cliff Russell since he returns kicks. As I said before, I think it's Russell or Warrick, and Perry or Walter.
