There was nothing new in the article, but I was amused by the "Who wins the AFCN" poll results.

For the record I voted for the Steelers.

When I voted the poll results quickly popped up and I learned that 80% of the responses predicted the Bengals would win.

I was both shocked and pleased by this news.

Then I read that the Steelers got the remaining 20% of the vote.

Yup, the Ravens and Browns were shut out completely.

Last, I saw where only 5 votes had been cast in the poll.

So unless my math is flawed I'm quite literally the only person who responded that voted for the Steelers.

Once again I am my own tribe.

Biggest offseason move: The risky move is switching from defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier, an attack-style coach, to a Chuck Bresnahan. The move was met with some raised eyebrows inside the team's facility.

I thought this was a strange comment.

Rookie to watch: Pollack was the team's first-round pick, but the guy we love is Thurman. He had first-round ability, but off-field concerns drove down his stock. Watch how good he is as a rookie.

I completely agree with this.

Of course, he's been pooping on the Bengals ever since he jumped on the bandwagon before the 2002 season and things went way south. <_<

But he's right that we have to get some D somewhere if we're to have any hope...still, I think he overrates both Pitt and Baltimore. We'll see.

Wait - somebody jumped on the Bengals bandwagon during the LeBlow era? Wow.

This guy also says that the Ravens could be good if Boller starts playing like a first rounder and completes over 60% of his passes. In other words, keep dreaming. Maybe Billick never should have taken Boller in the first, since no one else would have? Hmmm...

Yessiree! The year was 2002. Limbaugh was getting kicked off espn, Tim Couch was getting named starter (again) in Cleveland, Dick LeBeau was dressed like Superman and lip-synching songs in training camp...and "Wrong Again" Prisco said the Bengals were a legitimate playoff team...

First of all... F Prisco. This guy does not have the sense od gave little ants. The comments on Boller read like a fortune cookie..."Possibly Impossible".

To give him credit for stating that Odell will be good is like saying a hot stove will burn your freaking hand. Thanks Capt obvious <azzhat>!!!

This has to be the most painful time of year. The pundits pundify, the players pseudo-play, and the fans make themselves crazy counting down the days till the regular season.

To Prisco's comment about Cincy missing the playoffs I'd have to say four words:

Palmer, Chad, Rudi & Perry.

Ew, I hate the poll on the front page too:

Who is the best WR in the NFL?

Randy Moss

Hines Ward

Marvin Harrison

Terrell Owens

There's better

Terry Holt

"Terry"? And where's #85?

Prisco may or may not be a moron... I've never taken note of anything he has written... including this article, so I can't give an opinion one way or another. But ranking the Bengals #3 in the division seems very predictable.

It seems to me like everyone at ESPN is in love with the Ravens, and think they are a sexy pick to compete for the superbowl, because truly, with his weapons, all Boller must do is not throw interceptions (fat chance).

With the Steelers coming off a 15-1 year with the best defense in football, and a power running game, it is no surprise to me that most people don't expect the Bengals to make a big push this year.

Whether they do or not is completely up to the unproven defense, and that unproven defense is no reason at all for an unbiased observer to want to pick the Bengals on top of what would seem to most as superior teams.

We see the glaring flaws in Baltimore, which most of the world seems to blissfuly ignore, and a very quick to point out the seemingly fluky season of a rookie QB in Pitt... but the fact remains that commentators giving us love over either of these teams still comes at quite a surprise to me.

I believe we could be superior to Baltimore, and are on a fairly even plain with Pittsburgh, but we'll have to prove it on the field to before the Prisco's of the world take note.

Why get all hacked off at a guy who doesn't predict the Bengals going to the playoffs? Really do you blame him?

His point was that while everyone's watching Pollack, Thurman is the guy who will have a better year. Sure that's somewhat obvious to us, but remember he's writing to a national audience, not Bengal homers.

Just not sure what some of you guys expected him to say.

Although Palmer isn't getting much respect from any writers this year I think.

Palmer really hasn't proven that much yet either. I believe he'll be good, but he does have only 14 games of real action under his belt, and to question Rothleisburger (i know he looked bad in the playoffs), but not to question Palmer would be a mistake. Palmer consistently (this year and last year) underthrows Chad. sometimes, Palmer misreads defenses and he rarely strays from an intended route to check down or misses this throw. I think for a non homer,

(i would normally consider myself a homer), third is reasonable pick in the division. The offense has fewer question marks than the defense, but i fear there are question marks nonetheless.

I'm glad he said it. In fact I wish he'd say it more often. It'll be that much sweeter when everyone see's just how credible this bozo is when the Bengals do make the Playoffs!

The bigIF in all of this is can the Bengals find a way to beat the Steelers and the Ravens? They lost 3 of the 4 last year and nearly lost 2 to Cleveland. They were behind late in the big 100+ point shootout vs Clev. Until O'Neal (?)interception return for a TD sealed the deal. If we can win 4 of 6 Division games, then we make the playoffs for sure.

He didn't put Derrick Mason and Reuben Droughns as significant additions for the Ravens and Browns, respectively.  Hmmm.

Mason's not bad, but the track record on teams picking up ex-Denver running backs like Droughns isn't good (see Gary, Olandis for starters). It's a system that works because of things like cut-blocking and has more to do with the line than anything. Portis has been OK with Wash because he's a legit back on his own, but Denver isn't lucky when every 6th round back they plug in rushes for 1400 yards. It's a system, and the Browns fell for it.

Last year, I recall someone predicting the Steelers would win the AFCN.

HE was basically the lone dissenter, as they were just coming off a 6-10 season and no one thought they would bounce back so soon, much less be able to overthrow the Ravens.

What a call.

I'd like to see that guy's prediction this year....too bad I can't remember his name...
