DesperateDerelict
He's gonna have to earn my respect on the field by making plays ......I loved the guy before this after not wanting him pre draft.... now I feel like a 20 year old College girl taking the walk of shame out of the Frat House on a Sunday Morning with my panties in my purse, and semen stuck in my hair.I'm afraid I've swallowed penicillin several times because of that girl. the obvious question: what did she swallow? alleycat
crunette:"He stayed physically active and studied his playbook and fresh film of the TEAM'S TRAINING CAMP PRACTICES. He made flashcards from the playbook and was quizzed by his wife."So he was getting film from camp, eh? Gee, no wonder the Bengals did most of the giving. They couldn't even hold back from preparing him while he was absent. I'm happy to hear it for two reasons: One, he won't be totally unfamiliar with what's going on. Two, it shows just how important Marvin and Co. thinks this guy is and what an impact they think he will make that they were coaching him (and therefore willing to undermine their leverage) while he was holdng out.Maybe this is standard form with hold-outs, but it does give the whole process a certain "all-for-nothing-but-posturing sort of feel."Another thought: Maybe his incentive triggers are stratospheric to reach 13 million, but it shows a real willingness by the front office to pay for success. His guaranteed money might be in the slot between Johnson and James, but his full potential is way ahead. Can't really accuse the Browns of being cheap here, IMO. Semper_Fi_Dawg
Mark Curnutte just told 1360homer that Pollack better get ready to be ridden on by the coaches harder than Odell has been. "Yes drill sergeant sir!"Semper Fi should feel free to chime in along with Hunley and Marvin should he feel so inclined :player: :player: :player: :player: :player: I leave the house for a couple of hours and this is what happens. Came back and was lying on the couch and sulking when I saw the scroll across the bottom of the screen say DP has signed. Instantly screamed, jumped up, stopped by the frig. for a cold one just in case it was true, slapped my son away from the computer and this is what I find. (top pops on cold Miller Lite). Whole house in a celebration except the one on the computer, but he will as soon as he regains consciousnessMy Chime.O.K. son you got your money, now get your ass out there and earn it. . Wraith
I would love a DVD.It is amazing how many young ones we have floating around here. I honestly thought everyone had seen Animal House, to add to the must watch list, "It's a 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a packet of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses. Hit it." Another John Belushi classic and the best movie of all-time IMHO.

So shamelese we are.

Do you like the way Scraps rubs up against your leg? Aren't you Kareem Adbul-Jabbar? My dad says you suck.....Seriously though, I found this snippet of information in the back of the Bengals press release from the Patriots game under the title Important Dates. I believe that this might have contributed to the completion of Pollack's contract/signing."Aug 13-17: Deadline for club to provide written notice to certain unsigned players and the NFLPA of its intent to place them on the Exempt List if they fail to report no later than one day prior to the clubs second preseason game. But if it does, then he could lose what he was holding out for to begin with. Also I heard that the contract he signed was basically the same one on the table two weeks ago. I don't know how true that is but if so that pisses me off a little. I don't want to hear any excuses about Pollack "still learning the ropes" in week three or four. I am pretty sure that does not hold true to rookies who do not have contracts, only to players that are currently under a contract.
BengalPappaw
I'm just glad he SIGNED!!!! :player: Now we can start worrying about FOOTBALL -- and that is where this kid excels!! :player: IMO he will not suffer as much as from missing two weeks as some the players on our team. Pollack is a smart kid!!I love his attitude and can't wait to see him on the football field :player:
HairOnFire
Also I heard that the contract he signed was basically the same one on the table two weeks ago. I don't know how true that is but if so that pisses me off a little. They always say that and it's never true...unless you're willing to disregard important issues like the fight for realistic incentive triggers and the size of performance and roster bonuses that could be worth millions. Here's the rub. If Pollack performs as everyone hopes he'll likely hit the tougher incentive triggers and the fight will seem to have been over a little bit of nothing. But we'd all be happy under that scenario, right? The team, the player, and all of the fans of Bengala would raise their glasses in celebration. Where the fight pays off is when tougher incentive triggers denies the player riches they don't deserve. And on this point, think Akili. Because as big a mistake as that one was it could easily have been much worse.
