I've only seen the bits and pieces shown on the NFL Network but one thing got my attention. With ten minutes left in the 3rd quarter most of the Bengals defense looked absolutely gassed. Shirts out, hands on their hips, struggling for breath. Notable exceptions: O'Dell Thurman and Elton Patterson.

Maybe Martin's rethinking that one-fewer-week of camp now. I think this breaking practice up that all of the players are raving about because they are fresh for the night practice is coming at the expense of the good 'ole wear em down two-a-days. Unfortunately, conditioning is a long build-up process. Better start those wind sprints on Sunday.

Maybe the LeBeau-lighter-training-camp theory didn't work out...? Then again, we kinda wondered about that, didn't we? At least this is the first preseason game, not the first real one...there's still time.

On a brighter note, it sounds like Stacy Andrews is holding his own.

I hope I'm wrong about the conditioning. I'll know more after seeing the whole game, but it got my attention because they had just come out of halftime and the Patriots were still working on their first 2nd half drive.

Made me wonder if the reluctance to work 'em hard due to the heat was an issue.

I hope they put Krenzel in. I want to see how he stacks up to Bramlet.

D overview...

4 sacks...look good on pass rush. Run-d is hot or cold. Stopped for loss, or nice gain.

Odell loooks like a beast. need to throttle him back a bit.

Geathers has a sack..

Me, too. He didn't look too promising in chicago last year, but he was a rookie. I'd like to see how far he's come along.

don't u mean 8 total defensive players who can play?

Awfully early to be reaching for any panic buttons. Mistakes get made, mistakes get corrected. Part of the process.
