The Big Orange Posted August 2, 2005 Report Posted August 2, 2005 I'd take Kevin Jones and maybe even Julies Jones over RJ anyday. That ain't sayin' much...you'd take a pork roast over Rudi.I love Rudi. I don't want anybody but him. Anyone else would be a huge step back. He fits perfectly into our offense...he does his job...he's good to be around. My kids love Rudi. If they see a tiger striped material at Walmart they say..."Look, that's what Rudi wears".You're all alone, Pushy. No one is comming over to the communist party...your president will only get one vote. And you're in the dark. I'll pray for you Darth Vader. Quote

I don't want anybody but him. Anyone else would be a huge step back. He fits perfectly into our offense...he does his job...he's good to be around. So, LaDanian Tomlinson would be a huge step back from Rudi Johnson? And no, I wouldnt take any player over RJ, but i would take a good 15 or 16 over him. And he doesnt fit perfectly into our offense, in fact I'd say its the contrary, Bratkowski runs more of a spread offense, focus on the passing game and 3-4 WR sets. A slow power runner with no receiving skills doesnt fit into that. Rudi Johnson would be a 'perfect' fit on a team like the Steelers, Ravens, Dolphins, or Cowboys.ONCE AGAIN though, I do not consider RJ to be a terrible player, I think hes a good stop-gap starter untill our Franchise RB is ready to go. Hes somewhere in the middle of the pack as far as starting RBs go, and will be good enough untill we have something better and more complete to take this offense to the next level Quote
ArmyBengal Posted August 2, 2005 Report Posted August 2, 2005 Jesus, I come to you today to ask you to direct these misguided individuals who constantly bicker over who the better RB on this team is. (Oh yeah it's not Perry right now if you needed help) Please Lord I also ask you show them the way to see clearly and objectively. (Perry hasn't done anything yet) I ask all of this to bring peace and brotherly love to this board of Bengals fans.Oh yeah, your secret is safe with me about liking Rudi best !!! WHODEY !!! Quote

The Big Orange Posted August 2, 2005 Report Posted August 2, 2005 I think most of us have our player on the team which we don't particularly care for. For me it's Kelley (Barbie's little sister) Washington. The difference is that most of us don't fight tooth and nail that our least favorite guy sucks. We don't stand up for guys who have left the team and dissed us on the way out, nor do we use their pic in an opposing teams uniform as an avatar.Their are a lot of things in this world I don't understand...I personally think spankings hurt, but there are a lot of people who get off on that. You fall into this criteria of people that enjoy things which seem distasteful at best to me.The beautiful thing is that there is room for you at our table. So if you're game for an occassional tongue lashing from Hair, Joisey and the gang...great. You probably decorate your place in Chia pets...I just don't get it. Quote

All threads are Rudi/Perry threads, grasshopper. Even those about the Reds, or NASCAR or George W. Bush. Inside of all threads, a glorious Rudi/Perry debate awaits kindling, like the fire awaits within the log. Meditate on this, and you will understand.Oommmmmmm.... Quote

Ickey44 Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 Actually, if Perry shows he can be a starter, I see Rudi as trade bate. Rudi's going into his fifth year, Perry's going into his second. Everyone knows the younger at RB, the betterDude, where exactly did you read that I think he's not worthy to be a Bengal? I stated what I though would happen if Perry showed he could be a starter. Read the post before you go off on a needless tangent.I understand, but I guess I just get upset when people just disregard Rudi breaking DILLON'S record and all last year, after doing what he did in '03, what more do people want? Also how do you figure Perry will even get the chance to be a starter? I just don't see how that will be remotely possible when they just signed Rudi to a big contract - makes no sense at all, Perry can't stay healthy on top of the fact he won't get nearly enough carries and showed us nothing in preseason and early last year at all. Also about being younger, apparently "just to get younger" at RB - try telling that to Curtis Martin, Marshall Faulk, Jerome Bettis, Corey Dillon, Emmitt Smith, et al...., (not so much last year for Bettis and Smith but many years prior when they were still considered "old vets.")Rudi is right up there in that class now, you don't just trade a guy like that for a guy like Perry.Marvin drafted Perry because he believes in quality depth at every position - guys with high ceilings who are worth higher draft picks who can step-in and take over potentially without sacrificing your whole season over one player when they get hurt. That's his way of managing a roster properly.Perry wasn't drafted to replace Rudi - I just don't see why people can't get that through their heads! Actually, I think Perry was drafted incase they couldn't get a long term contract with Rudi.Perry might not get a chance to show his stuff. I just threw that out there cause some other people had brought it up - apparently in a different thread, cause I thought this was the thread I read it in - and I wanted to put my two cents in. My ideal scenerio for both these backs is that we end up with a tandem like Woods and Brooks of the '88 Superbowl team. That would be great. Don't get the wrong idea, I don't Rudi going anywhere. It was just an opinion. Quote
DontPushMe Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 Kitna has been impressed by rookie wide receiver Chris Henry and running back Chris Perry, a guy that reminds him of a back from his days in Seattle. “Ricky Watters,” Kitna said. “A lot of motion, but great hands, good explosion.” For the first time in nearly nine months, Perry practiced on back-to-back days Monday and Tuesday as he comes back from a deep abdominal muscle pull, and he drew the biggest oohs-and-aahs from the crowd. Quote
HairOnFire Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 I wonder if the oohs-and-aahs were in response to Perry throwing his helmet to the ground after it appeared he had dinged his groin again. That said, props to the kid for getting up and resuming play. Quote
HoosierCat Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 Per Curnutte's latest podcast on the bengals blog this morning, Perry was practicing again this a.m. So at the risk of returning this thread to its original topic, it looks like Perry is coming along. Which is good news no matter how you feel about, him, Rudi or Dillon. Quote

Which is good news no matter how you feel about, him, Rudi or Dillon. Definitely, I can wait to see how well Perry plays, no matter what role that may be. I can forsee some nice third down plays out of him. Even with last years injury, I support him being picked in the '04 draft and I think he'll prove it this year, as a backup. Quote

On Lance's observations the other day, he noted Rudi and Tony Stewart were setting up wide (receiver position) and Perry was the RB. I'd love to see how that works out. Quote
DontPushMe Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 I wonder if the oohs-and-aahs were in response to Perry throwing his helmet to the ground after it appeared he had dinged his groin again. Or maybe they happened when he jogged faster than a sprinting Rudi Johnson? Or caught a pass? Or evaded a tackler? I think you are the only "bengal fan" who would get excited when you see a player on your team get injured. Quote
